Dave, I found just what you are looking for ! Surfing around thru e-bay last nite, nothing else to do, there was a listing for an old Minute Man Missle site out in the Dakotas. Can't remember where but it looked like a real big place. [(-D]
PennCentral, I remember those kinds of days, when I was with the B&O in Cincy I would sometimes catch the L&N transfer. It was maybe a trip of 15 miles but trying to cross the river into Ky and back would take anywhere from ten to twelve hours. From your posting it sounds like you are working what we called the Xtra-Board, on eight off eight unless you caught a road job. Used to get pretty punchy after a while, never knew the day or date. ChiefEagles No were not allowed to sleep,,,,,But,,,,,it happens alot,,And a locomotive seat will for me in a 2 hour nap put both legs totally asleep so I have to rotate about every hour. Engines with the desk top type controlls are just about impossable to sleep on,,,,But The engines that come down from Canada have cots that pull down!!!! NICE

So you can take turns sleeping, engineer 1 hour, conductor 1 hour, as long as both don't doze off sounds like a plan. I always thought it would be cool to see the scenery but I think engineers don't really care about scenery as they are watching signals and monitoring radio traffic. Probably not as glamorous as I thought when was a kid.

FJandG, Actually I do watch the scenery, alot, We run over the {what I'm told} second longest bridge in the United States At over 200 + feet high and almost a 1/4 mile It's quite a thrill when you round the turn with a thick fog and can't see the BRIDGE!!!!! You live by faith real good!!! and I probly shouldn't tell this due to who else reads the thread,,,But,,, I and others have been known to stop on the middle of this bridge and fly a papper arirplane out the window of the engine,,,,,,,VERY Mature!

Larry, I just upgarded to Norton 2004. Gives you firewall, spam blocking [works great], add blocking and anti virus. $46 or $49 bucks downloaded from internet with 1 year's free re-downloading. It will block things like this AM and then you click on details and the map will show you where it is coming from [world wide] and then give you the details [name, address, IPL, phone number and email plus other stuff I do not know what it is]. Unbelievable.

Larry, I'm not a computer expert. I don't think a Trogan Horse is the same as a virus. No noticed viruses from CTT site. Road Runner blocks a lot but once in a while, Norton will catch one that Road Runner does not. Sounds like you got the "worm thing" that was being pased around. You need to also run updates from Windows too. Is et everything on auto updates so they are done automaticly and I get a notice they are done [in case of Norton] or I do them right then [in case of Windows]. Shame we have to run all of this protection to have a good network and computer. Good luck.

A good start to the morning, our server at work is down first thing. Very cool day in NE Ohio, temp of 66 with a high of only 68. I sure am glad it is Summer.

Looks like you folks on the east cost are going to be very wet.

Chief, I did get a little bit of that "house washing" you mentioned as Tropical Storm Bonnie came in last night. Most of the heavy stuff was far to the east of us, so we mostly had a lot of rain with very little wind. It did cause some flooding in low-lying areas and one bridge was washed out. My heart goes out to those that are in the path of the hurricaine coming toward the Florida Keys and heading north. I heard there is a possibility that the two systems could combine. (Remember what happened in the movie, "The Perfect Storm"? . . . )

BB is one of the main actors in the screenplay and novel (doing both). Although she doesn't have any speaking roles, she does have some barking lines.

What do you think producers are looking for in a movie?

Be honest, I'll take an inch of rain. Put out fertilizer [special kind and heavy] on the front lawn last week when they called for heavy rains. Got enough to just melt the fertilizer. Now got burnt lawn. Good rain would get it going back again. Mowed and it sprinkled on me and when I finished, it stopped and has not rained since. OH WELL, it done.
