Hello Everyone ! Sounds like BB was giving the fat rabbit its daily excercise. In a previous post Dave said that some People did not like BB's Howling, Well he should have told them that her howling sounds better than the sounds of Slim Whitman's old songs.( Especially at 16 rpm on a old turntable)[:)][;)] Then maybe they would have appreciated BB much better[8D] Looks like another April Fools Joke has been played on us with this weather. A week ago it was sunny & warm with blue skies. Now, it is cold and cloudy with snow[V] Hope Spring comes back soon. Take care everybody.........Keith P.S. Wow, what a beautiful day down in Dixie! [8D] Sunny, breezy and slightly cool - about 68 degrees. Yesterday and today were great after our monsoons and hailstorms of Thursday.

Stopped by Lowes after church to pick up a drill bit I needed and spent some time looking at the new laser levels on the market. The thing about them is you still have to rely on the little bubble in the glass to get the laser beam level! So much for technology. [:D]

Have a good day everybody!

You have got to love NE Ohio weather. Been Snowing all day. Some areas have over 15" and 6 to 8" more on the way for them. Over 30,000 without power.

Because we are close to the lake, I still have green grass showing, but just one mile south has 6" on the ground.

I'm sorry for your snow. It's freakin' cold here and the wind doesn't help. But the sun is shining and I took the family out for Chicago deep-dish pizza tonight just for the heck of it. Of course the teenager insisted on getting something different. Good thing MGD (beer) was $2 for 20 oz. Hope to clean some track tonight...

I sure appreciate Bob's reasoned approach to the forum postings...

[#ditto] to what the other Doug said but unfortunately there will be people who's only joy in life is trying to stir things up. To bad the lack of decorum and bad manners has spilled over from the politicians into the general populace. [2c]

"Lucy, I'm home." "Oh, hi Ricky." [:D] Read all the garbage tomorrow. Dr. John, Craftsman Club [membership free, see Craftsmanclub.com] has discount on Sears rotating lazer level. I have their earlier model [not the rotaing type] and I think I am going to buy the rotating one too. I use the earlier modle to lay off the concrete for the tool shed I added to the back of the garage. Now I need to use it to level some train layout tables. [;)] Off to bed. Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is covered with lots of Snow. Many areas have over 20” and my house still has green grass showing. You got to love that Lake Eire. Over 75,000 without power. As I drove across town to work, I could not believe the change.

Next will come the flooding and rain and 50 deg temps are next. What a great spring, last weekend it was 80 deg.

Pick of the Day

all be safe

Good Morning,

Another beautiful morning here but I can still hear the hum of the furnace BUT that's better than the hum of a snowblower. That snow just doesn't seem right, watched the highlights on the Today show and everyone just seemed to laugh it off--hopefully it will vanish quickly without floods.

Any of you headed to York this week? It's something I'd like to do someday but the distance factor just nearly eliminates the possibility.

Have a good week.

Good morning. A sunny cold day today. Nice for a walk at lunch now that the wind has died down. I noticed an old trolley track coming out of the asphalt in the middle of Madison St. today. Also saw a C&NW boxcar on the way in. Here's a trivia question: what's the oldest a car can be to be interchanged according to FRA rules? Answer below.

I spent a pleasant evening cleaning track - I timed myself - working with a cut-off square rag and a bottle of denatured rubbing alcohol and plenty of 'elbow grease', I could work myself around the layout in about 35 minutes. Cheated by not lifting the tunnels though. Finished with a satisfyingly black rag. Then ran some trains to see if it made a difference. One of my older 2-4-2 still starts with a hitch in it but then smooths out. It's the one pulling the Lionelosi Special. I bet I'm overloading this R transformer - I have all the accessories and both tracks connected to it - when I run a train on the main line, I have to keep it at full throttle to get it to go around when in the far reaches of the layout. I know I should run some wire and a lockon or two out thataway and it would probably fix it, or just unplug some accessories and see what happens. I also broke a clip on the trigger/ connector for my signal light, so now the wire flops out. Drat. I think I ordered them last time from Warren Trains or something like that. When I came upstairs, everyone was in bed!

Jon brings up a good question. Have any of you ever been to York - it sounds like Toy Train Heaven. I'll never go - too far away. What's it like? A flea market? A train show?
Trivia answer: fifty years is apparently the limit for running gear - so that would be 1955.

Guess flowers and garden made it. Now the warming starts. Can not believe that we did not get any rain in Roseyville. Big storm hit Charlotte Friday night. Busy as may start showers tomorrow. Will mow today. Off to St. Louis Thrusday AM. Retirement thing for my buddy at former work on Wed. Got to get flight booked to Chicago and driving to Dubugue on Memorial Day weekend. I see that Roger B and Dr. John kept those Yankees in line while I was away. [:D] Have a good one and God bless.

Good morning, everybody! Been running all morning - hospital visits, staff meeting, etc. Finally have a chance to catch my breath, get a cup of coffee, and check e-mail, etc.

Chief, thanks for the tip about the Craftsmanclub. If it's free I'm in!

All you guys in Ohio, keep the snow plows running and the salt on the roads!

A good day to you all!

With the cold, for us in GA, weather this weekend didn't do too much outdoors. The oldest grandaughter, 7, and I had an enjoyable couple of hours running the trains yesterday afternoon while the younger sisters napped. In addition to being the engineer on the CZ she was my breakman when we started to switch a coal car around and loading/unloading it. She also enjoyed the milk car now that she knows how to reload it and can reach it standing on a step stool.

It has been raining here all day. Big storms and tornado alerts right now, but most of it south of here.

Getting ready to go to York on Wed morning. There are about 5 of us coming from the Great State of Texas. Looking forward to poking around in tons of interesting train stuff. After York we are going to the RR museum of Penn Sunday and then to the B&O Museum on Monday before we leave Mon night back for Dallas.

Have a great day all!

It's hard to believe, NE Ohio is now at 55 deg with alot of melting snow. This morning some area had snow coming down so hard you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. There is still over 20,000 without power. At the peck of the strom, over 136,000 were without power.

Maybe we are done with snow for the year.

Tom,

Sorry to hear about all the snow. I am sure you guys would like to be done with it this year. My father planned an extended visit to Ohio for Christmas with his mother back in 1960 or so. The rest of us stayed home while he went via train from Houston to Akron. When he got there they had a huge blizzard. He came back to Houston, cutting his trip short as he had enough of it while growing up there.

Dave - congrats on getting the articles done. Hope they get chosen to publish.

Regards, Roy

Dougsnotagrump, that was pretty good cartoon. Keep them coming. Dr. John, only problem with Craftsman Club is you get to buy things 10% off of sale price and buy them about a week before they go on sale. Now I find myself buying things that I would normally not know were on sale. They got me hooked. [;)][xx(] Weedeated and mopwed this PM. Shot horse riders!!!! No but needed too. They came through over weekend and tried to set fire to some pinestraw and tried to do damage to area around pond. Tore down the sign at the spillway saying "NO HORSES PLEASE". Will be gone this weekend and that is their riding time. I'll be home Mother's Day weekend. I'll be waiting. Calling Frankie's Captain [neighbor and friend and fellow church member]. Frankie told me to tell him to send out an email for the Deputies to patrol the area and arrest everyone except Skeet and his brothers. No Buckeye???? Where is SkyRay??? [?] Have a good evening and God bless.

Waiting on the next round of bad weather to hit Alabama tonight or tomorrow. Better keep your eyes open Chief, it will probably head your way too.

All of this talk about snow reminds me of a trip to Ohio I made back in the spring of 1981. I was preaching at a small church in Akron for a few evening services. Snowed every day for a week - there must have been over a foot of snow on the ground!

Kind of a tough welcome for an ol' southern boy like me! I did enjoy my visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, though.

Dear Chief,
From now on please pay more attention in class. And another thing, get your butt out of bed on Saturday mornings from now on and don't give us any more excuses that you were at some BPS party till the wee hours of the morning. It is getting old. [:D] Needless, to say you will need to take your Saturday morning exam again.

Tim, thanks for the information about the Digital Dynamics installation of TMCC. In summary, the kit you purchased from Digital had color coded wires that simplified the installation while the kit that I purchased from Train America used only black wires and that complicated the installation. Hmmmm… I wonder which company I will use for my next upgrade to TMCC? [;)]

Doug, if you need a way around North Carolina, my buddies at the DOT can help us out. [:D] In fact, I would suggest Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Ocean Liner and South Carolina or West to San Francisco and then a tramp freighter to Savannah. I think you would enjoy either trip.

BTW, Memorial Day Weekend around Indianapolis gets a little on the nutty side. Do you go near Cincinnati? If so, Davis Trains is not too far out of the way via the Interstates.
