The temp. isn't too bad here this morning, 40, but they're talking 40 mph wind gusts.

On my "day of rest" work agenda I'm going over the daughter-in-law's and try to adjust their TV antenna, hope the wind dies down, oh well the eave is only about 10' high. I think the biggest problem with the reception is 3 microwave towers within line of site, maybe a mile away. Could also explain my interferrence at times, though they're not visible from where I am.

Tim, glad all went well with your son.

Looks nice, Jim. Better than the teens here in Chicago. Snowed yesterday but less than an inch - more due tonight. Glad to hear about Trevor. My 2 year old is driving me crazy to see the 'trains, trains, trains...' all the time. Guess I trained him too well.

Doug,

You may want to consider calling the DNR about your new resident, especially if it's a she as you will soon have more new residents. We live in the country and had a possum take up residence in a small shed IN an open garbage can, she then had a litter. We also had 105# German Shepherd and he stayed away from her, UGLY animal, through my persistence she and her family moved away permanently.

So many roads, so little time.

Well for all those in snow, snow, snow, here in TX we have sun, sun, sun! [8D] Here comes the sun - do do do do dum dum - here comes the sun - do do do do dum dum - It's all right! We'll try to send some your way!

Tim - great to hear all went well with Trevor! Not many things worse than putting your kid into a hospital. One of ours had the ear problem when younger and also got the tubes. It is important to do it as they have learned that early hearing impairment can lead to lots of learning problems later. Our daughter had a terrible time with sounding out words in elementary school. She may never spell correctly.

PETim - Welcome back!

Roy - The next time you are in Akron, we will have to have an OTTS (Ohio Toy Train Summit). Let us know when.

John - csxt30 - are you going to Stewarts tomorrow? If so are you going to bring your new MTH engine?

Good morning all, Trevor says thank you for all the well wishers. We are off to Legoland for my birthday today. We are going to see the new freedom tower in New Your part of Legoland. Should be awesome.

Buckeye, you are right on. Trains are cool, no matter what the size. But the 3 rail guys at the train museum are the most fun, and they love to play. Way Cool.

Take care all snowbirds.

Roy,

Are you up in the Panhandle area like near Amarillo. I love that area. Lots of wide open spaces, cattle and stuff and you can see storms coming from miles away. I went Santa Fe watching there back in 70s.

Roy, I was just in Akron yesterday for a meeting on the south side. Akron has become one the economic wonders of our time. Have you ever been to the hotel built in the grain silos near the Amtrak station?

I've been there three times. There are several railroading displays but I have never seen an HO layout anywhere in the building. There are some G Scale trains on the shelf, but they were not operating.

Staying in one of the round silo rooms is very interesting to say the least. Your depth perception get confused.

Roy, do you know about Glen's Trains in Akron? Tom is a regular customer.

Many years ago there was a large O Gauge layout on the second floor of the building with the restaurant in it at Quaker Square. It may have been an express building at one time but I don't know that for sure. Later the O Gauge layout was replaced with an G layout. Last time I saw the G layout my daughter was maybe eighteen months old. Today she's 29. Karen (wife) said we have some pictures around here somewhere. It was either 1972 or 1973 when one of the Cleveland TV stations ran a program called "Gandy Dancer in O-Gauge" which I believe was about this layout and the man responsible for building it. Wonder if it would be possible to get the program on tape or dvd?

Greg, when I was about 10 year old, (44 years ago) we were visiting an uncle and aunt near the Portage Lakes and they took us to a model railroad exhibit in a building somewhere near Akron. It had a great circus tent on the layout. Do you know what ever happened to that layout?

BTW, after a long week on the road, it is good to be home tonight in Buckeye Land [:)]where it is snowing. [:(] Obviously, my sins are many to have the white death decend upon me again and I don't even live in Cleveland. [:0]

Karen and I both remember that the O Gauge layout at Quaker square had a large section devoted to circus displays. We visited the O gauge layout only once or twice and that was in the early 1970's. When we went back and they had converted to the G guage layout, pieces of the original layout were mounted to the walls on the first floor. Haven't been to Quaker Square in years so I don't know if any of either layout is still there. Next time we go to Glen's might just go see what is still at Quaker Square.

The last time I was to Quaker Square was about 8 years ago. The O gauge layout was long gone. I meet one person who had part of it and was using it in his layout. There was an old passenger car next to the station what had part of a HO layout in it, but not complete and not open. There was also a restaurant there that had a lot of G scale trains on the wall and parts of dinning cars in the restaurant. I understand that is also gone.
