Mother and daughter Moose joined us for breakfast this morning.

The mother on the left and daughter ( a yearling) on the right. They were just doing a little browsing about 20 ft. off the back porch.

PIGSEYES I envy you I wish I could see that. All I see is Amish people in their buggies.
Just got done running trains for the evening all is well down in the yards. If anyone wants to read a great train story go to the thread of favorite railroads and read BUCKEYES post it is amazing.

Wow, it must be neat to see real live moose - all I got is a possum. Another dusting of snow last night but not much - it's stil cold. Have to take the 2 yr. old in the basement to run some trains...everyone's still asleep.

That's cool!

Nothing much to report here except for a funny looking neighbor hound joining BB for breakfast (last summer before the neighbor erected the electric fence to hold their hound in)

Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is white with about 4 inches of new show. I think we are going to break that record for most snow in one season this year. We are only a few inches away from it.

PI Tim – what a great shot. We have plenty of white tail deer around here, which being in the city suburb is sometimes surprising. If I don’t get the car washed soon, they will be coming up the drive to lick the salt off the side of it.

Laz – Where I used to live, was very close to the second largest Amish settlement in Ohio. I know what you mean. What a challenge to drive down the road at 60 mph and come over a hill to see a buggy at 3 mph.

Pick of the Day

Heading into the Weekend

LIVE from Roger's Corners, Ohio
It's SATURDAY MORNING

Since the Chief is watching I thought a joke that catches the spirt of the season would be in order. This is dedicated to Trevor, in Sunny California [:)]

The Lord spoke to Noah and said, "In six months I am going to make it rain until the whole world is covered with water and all the evil things are destroyed. But, I want to save a few good people and two of every living thing on the planet. I am ordering you to build an ark." And, in a flash of lightning, he delivered the specifications for the ark. "OK," Noah said, trembling with fear and fumbling with the blueprints, "I'm your man."
Six months passed, the sky began to cloud up, and the rain began to fall in torrents. The Lord looked down and saw Noah sitting in his yard, weeping, and there was no ark.

"Noah!" shouted the Lord, "Where is My ark?" A lightning bolt crashed into the ground right beside Noah.

"Lord, please forgive me!" begged Noah. "I did my best, but there were some big problems. First, I had to get a building permit for the ark's construction, but Your plans did not meet their code. So, I had to hire an engineer to redo the plans, only to get into a long argument with him about whether to include a sprinkler system.

"My neighbors objected, claiming that I was violating zoning ordinances by building the ark in my front yard, so I had to get a variance from the city planning board.

Then, I had a big problem getting enough wood for the ark, because there was a ban on cutting trees to save the spotted owl. I tried to convince the environmentalists and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that I needed the wood to save the owls, but they wouldn't let me catch them, so no owls.

"Next, I started gathering up the animals but got sued by an animal rights group that objected to me taking along only two of each kind.

"Just when the suit got dismissed, the EPA notified me that I couldn't complete the ark without filling out an environmental impact statement on Your proposed flood. They didn't take kindly to the idea that they had no jurisdiction over the Supreme Being. Then, the Corps of Engineers wanted a map of the proposed flood plan. I sent them a globe!

"Right now, I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Equal Opportunities Commission over how many minorities I'm supposed to hire. The IRS has seized all my assets claiming that I am trying to leave the country, and I just got a notice from the state that I owe some kind of use tax. Really, I don't think I can fini***he ark in less than five years."

With that, the sky cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow arched across the sky. Noah looked up and smiled. "You mean you are not going to destroy the world?" he asked hopefully.

"No," said the Lord. "The government already has."

LAZ mentioned my post about my favorite railroad. Unlike some of the whoppers that have been told on this forum, my story is true. My father died about 2 months before I was born, and my mom took me to see his parents in Baltimore, MD every summer via the NYC and the B&O. Looking back, I think my grandparents sent her some money so that we could ride in the sleeping car because we certainly didn't have a dime when I was a child. We lived in a two-bedroom house with my grandparents in a little town of West Lebanon, Indiana on the Wabash River. Another reason my O Gauge layout is named the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash.

I won't be posting too much in the next two weeks. I am going on a trip to California. I will be in San Francisco for the conference on city planning. I will try to get some photos to share of me riding the cable cars. Now I have goofed. The Chief will know I will be gone and here comes the Yankee Jokes. Hold on to your hat, Tom.

Speaking of Tom, isn't it great that the Buckeye Boys are getting together and talking trains. I now see that the California Camp may be doing the same thing with Turbo's trip to Balboa Park. I wonder if CTT ever imagined this would happen.

Tim, great moose photos, but they look weary of winter. I have seen moose in Canada and these animals are huge.

CXT, good idea about lunch if our Texas Friend, Roy shows up in Akron.

Roger made the comment that this posting gets about 10 looks for every post. No problem. It would be nice to have the lookers just say hello every once in awhile, especially when someone needs a little encouragement due to sickness.

Speaking of sickness, my first annual check up from surgery was yesterday. i passed with flying colors. Only a handful of people here on the forum have a clue about my past surgery. I used to weigh 326 pounds. I now weigh 223 pounds. My life has changed in ways that you can only imagine including more energy to work on my layout. [:)]

Take care and have a great weekend. [:D][:D]

BTW, did you notice I went a whole week without cracking on the Chief. I had to restrain myself.

Wow!

We actually have snow on the ground! And in March, none the less. There's practically none on the roads, but a good showing on the ground. No grass poking through, at least. Maybe this will be the last of the snow for Frankfort this winter(or spring, as it really is now).

What a waste of a perfectly good snowfall, though, to have it on the weekend and not during the week when it might have gotten us out of school(wishful thinking).

Hope that you all have a good day.

The ever watching eyes of the Chief have been watching. I was waiting for the Buckeye and his gang [OHIO] to start something. He will now pay. The reason we have Gov't problems is that folks in Ohio are worse than those in Florida. The folks in Florida did learn how to count. Those in Ohio had to stop after 20 [10 toes and 10 fingers]. Buckeye in California will be a real Beverly Hillbillies. Now all behave because I am watching. The white stuff on you Yanks is due to all of your poking fun at sweet tea and grits. [;)] Oh, BTW, Possum is what folks in Ohio refer to Thanksgiving turkey. Off to BPS for a long day. Jim, we will get things going for your new choo choo on Monday. Glad Trevor is OK. Pigseye Tim, glad you had a good trip. Roy, see if you can keep your fellow Texan [Jimbo] in line. LAZ, smile, summer will come soon. Scratch, you've got a little longer to wait for your thaw. Now, God bless all [including Yankees].

No the white stuff keeps the suthern riff raft out of the North and it is taking more snow this year than ever. It seems to be working since the Chief doesn't get to visit Wheeling. [:)] [(-D][(-D][(-D]

MORNING GIZ,
All quite here today.
Yuz GIZ with all the snow looks like SCRATCH broke the record for snow fall in MA.
The OHIO boys are right around the corner of breaking their amount. Woo what a winter and there still is 8 days left. I think the CHIEF is schemming on giving us another one on ST. PATTYS day.
TOM yea those buggies the Amish have do come up on you real fast and the result is quite a few accidents around here involving the things.
BUCKEYE congrats on losing all that weight. Keep up the good work. I guess when you lose all that weight you can get into places you couldn't get before. Shake up those valley girls out there in Ca. Have a good time.
Hope all is well and lets be safe out there.

Morning all!

Dave, I am in NE Texas, about an hour south of OK and 2 hours west of AK. Believe it or not, he panhandle area, Amarillo, is a 6 hour drive WNW from Dallas!

To all the Buckeyes - I have been to Quaker Square (did not stay there - my family is out in the Fairlawn area). Also enjoyed the Inventors museum and Brandywine Falls.

Next time I get up there - lunch is a definite. Thanks for the invite. The restaurant at Quaker Sq that is built out of old RR passenger cars is not too bad.

Buckeye - Be careful on your trip and have a good time. We'll look forward to your return. Scoma's in the old SF wharf area is always good. Also glad to hear your checkup went well!

BTW - make sure you go to the Cable car drive house museum. It is really cool!

Another beautiful day here - 80's, sunny [8D].

Another BTW - the lawnmowers are out in force here this weekend also - unfortunately no girls pushing them.

Happy St Pat's day! [^] (had to use the green guy!)
Roy

Regards, Roy

Hello All: Weather is much the same up here, March sure came in like a Lion & it looks like it plans on lingering around for a while. Cheif: I plan on going to National Sportsmanshow in Toronto & I see BPS is involved in a big way, if you happen to know anybody there I will pass on kind regards for you. Gotta love those Amish, almost ran a few over when I was in Strasburg & Lancaster a few years ago, We have the Mennonites up here. Gotta Respect them they certainly stick to their guns on how they live. The Moose were great, we do have some big ones up here, If you ever hit one while driving you probably won't be able to tell the story. Going after a nice set of MTH ABA C.N.F3 they are nice, although I am normally an admitted sniper, this time I am the High bidder right now. Everyone have a great weekend Looking forward to the Sunday pic's. Dave: My Abby is in Love with BB. Kind Regard's Steve

Redhawk, can not remeber who is doing Toronto BPS show this year. Maybe Derek Fritz. Maye next year I will request it. Seems all the ones I requested get canceled. [:(] The guy will be in the Bass Pro Shops, Marine Dept as Pro Mariner on-board charger Rep. Hey, I did not come in through the tunnel wher the NS dumps all of its coal and there is the huemongus coal pile being loaded into ships. This time I came and crossed the switching area where rows of emtpy hopper cars were sitting. Someone told me it was the old C&O or B&O yard where the coal was brought in by that railroad. I forgot to bring my camera. Next trip in May, I will bring the camera and try to get some pictures of the great coal piles and the big augers cutting into them and loading the ships. A real site to see. Be careful Buckeye. I would only be able to pick on Tom if something happened to you. [;)] Tom is too easy. [}:)] Off to the rom for microwave popcorn and Diet Pepsi and TV. Really good day today. Worked at the Gold Coast Museum's "Day out with Thomas" project, and entertained about twenty million kids and a few parents. If you guys promise not to tell, I'll let you in on a secret. That full size Thomas is a fake. A very real looking fake, but all the motivation today came from the other end of the consist where the was an ACL GP-7 hooked into the mix. I was guarding a "G" scale Thomas pulling Annie and Clarabelle, and every time the big Thomas left I smelled cordite. Asked one of the engineers about it, and he confided that it was because the smoke from Thomas came from a smoke grenade. I knew that smell was familiar!!

Thomas:

Another view:

That Number 153 in the background is a Pacific which hauled Hoover to Miami in 1928, and pulled the last train out of Key West before the 1935 Hurricane "when the train died at sea."

Another, very similar shot.

But it was a bunch of fun, and I get to do it again tomorrow. Some of them kids can carry out an attack on a train faster than the Pawnee. But I didn't lose a car all day.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is White again as more morning snow is coming down. We are only 2.6” away from the record and it may fall today!

Buckeye – Have you called the FBI for Chief. I didn’t think that Pepsi was part of their language.

Scrach – we set up many different scenes for photo takes. Way to many to count.

Buckeye – we need your help for St. Patty’s day. I’m not Irish.

all be safe
