Morning, all!

After a beautiful day yesterday, the clouds rolled back in, the rain fell and the temperature dropped! I guess it's not spring yet!

I have the final walk-through on the new railroad layout domicile (otherwise known to laypeople as a "house") this afternoon. Close on same tomorrow at 1:00 PM CST. First rails should go down at 1:05 PM. (In my dreams!) Actually, we move in Saturday.

Have a good day everyone!

Home again [thank God and Chevrolet, didn't fly this trip]. Dr. John, hope the new church is doing good. Glad to see you back. Buckeye was asking about you the other day. Figured the email address I had on you would not work now so did not try to contact you. Hope your profile has new one. These Yankees have been giving me a hard time. Espeically those from OHIO. Looks like two of them [the worse in the bunch] might get together this week. You get Buckeye and Tom together and you get a Bucking Tom. Whatever. It will be a mess. Got to get unpacked and stop coughing. This mess gets better and then worse. Right now it is worse. [cough cough]. Hope to run trains today too. They may have forgotten who I am and go running off the track.[;)] God bless all.

Hi Chief,

Yes, things are going well at the new church. We had a high attendance emphasis last Sunday with 1548 in Bible study. Each class set a goal and each class that reached their goal got to put a pie in my face. I ended up with 41 pies in the kisser! I still have whipped cream in my ear!

I still use the same e-mail address listed in my profile.

Hope you get over the cold or crud or whatever. It took me about four weeks to get over mine.

Another good day yesterday. Too tired to communicate when I got home last night. It was the last day of "Day Out With Thomas," and after the people left we had to police up the place because the museum is open regular hours today. I have found a place in their hiearchy, running the "G" scale Thomas and moving heavy crowd control barriers when the people leave.

Thomas, Annie, and Clarabelle passing the Rathaus on the west end of the layout

The western end without that pesky train covering everything up.

They didn't give me a whistle to blow, so I had to entertain the kids by having the engineer stop and back up for a beer at "Cafe Kemph."

Hello team!

Started out at 40 and headed towards 50's today. Gets colder tomorrow with some mention of rain. Temp dropped yesterday from 70 at midnight to 50's.

I spent the day yesterday mowing (weeds and leaves), bagging the debris, etc., to beat the bad weather.

Have a Boy Scout campout this coming weekend. First campout with the Scouts (up from the Cubs). Weather looks so far to be purfect camping weather. high 60's during the day and 40's at night.

PETim, for as many as I ate - I never acquired a taste for moon pies.

Skyray - Our club has worked 2 Thomas events here. They are great fun and the kids are great.

Dr. John - great to hear about the new church.

Have a great day all!
Roy

Morning all! Was in the neighborhood, so I thought I'd stop in - it has been awhile - since page 220 as a matter of fact. Been busy with being busy - something people who are retired can relate to![:)]

Here are some photo's from my Lionel Polar Express set - arrived last week and will soon be running on my trainroom shelf system. Enjoy![:)]

Evening all. Dr thinks Eagles flew. OH, spelled flue [even though I had the shot]. Will probably have to go in to her office tomorrow AM. Hey, that "wares me out" [southern language] so how does that help? She'll just say go home and stay in bed. Had mole shaved off of the back of my leg today. "We'll let you know something in a week or two." Gee thanks. [;)] Dr. John, we made our Pastor sing a solo in front of the whole church and he did not sing. That is the truth. Chief, The best part of taking a trip is always comimg home...[^]
Most of the paint and plaster work is done, one more room to do. I swear that I have spent so much time on that extension ladder that my feet will now fit a tree limb, I'll have to keep a sharp eye out to make sure I don't start growing feathers. [swg]
I'm still fighting with sinusitis, it don't do any good to go to the doc, they can't really do anything for it. [|(]

Welcome back Dr. John...Prattville, I think I've been through there. I think many years ago when they only had 3 stop lights. From the size of your church sounds like the town has grown. Good luck there and God Bless.......Tim

Wow, this brings back memories. It was March of 1962 that I went on my first Boy Scout campout. The high was in the 50's and the low was in the mid 20's and there was ice on the edge of the lake in the morning. Needless to say I loved it to the chagrin of my mother. When you are a Northern Boy Scout you learn to camp in the snow which I did several times. Remember to put a foam pad beneath you when you are sleeping on the ground or you will freeze all night. The great part of camping in the cold is no bugs!

Tom, sorry about the change in plans. [:(] I was looking forward to planning our next barrage against the Chief, but maybe it is better that we hang back somewhat since he is pretending to be sick again. Remember that time he faked the heart surgery so that he would get our sympathy? Well we aren't going to fall for that suthern misChief again!
I'm sure glad Dr. John is back so the Chief will be required to confess all of his sins against us poor frozen northern boys. [:D]

Chief you better take better care of yourself or Tom, LAZ and I are going to be heading south with some of our special medicines from the North and pour it down your throat. (Tom, do you know where we can buy Wild Turkey, cheap?) I don't want to hear about you wading in the pond or standing in the rain looking in Train Ladies store window. You take care of yourself.

Great photos siberianmo. I like the glass shelf. Did that come from some type of store?

Keith - Thanx for the comments. Yeah, I guess it does look like a museum; didn't start out that way. The trains in the display cases are "retired" and those that I can relate to from years and years ago. I grew up in the northeast and rode the Pennsy - NYCentral - New Haven and Boston & Maine over a span of several decades. So these passenger roads - and some freight - are now in the cases. Better than keeping them in cardboard boxes stored away where no one can enjoy 'em!

Appreciate the compliment. As the Polar Express shelf system gets closer to completion - I'll be sure to add some more pix ....... Since my layout is HO, and my guess is you guys are into the larger stuff (REAL trains! [:D]) I didn't feel that my pix should occupy your discussion group. Appreciate the comments! The display cases I have (6) came from Full View Display Company in Hightstown, NJ - www.fvdisplays.com. Each one is 24" x 48" - so if you put two of 'em end to end, you get a real nice display area.

By the way, I used to call Ohio "home" for about 25 years of my 32 year career in the military. Cincinnati!

Morning all, Chief - hope you sweat through this thing. Cold today (so what else is new). I remember winter camping as a Scout growing up in Connecticut. Nothing like that happens around here anymore... I was reading the March MR I got out of the library - did you see the 'Kitbash a Depot' contest ? There are several here who could win it!

Good morning! 47 degrees and windy in Prattville this AM. Tim, you're right - Prattville used to be a three-light burg until a few years ago. Between people moving out from Montgomery, the growth of Maxwell Air Force Base, and the new Hyundai plant, it has grown a LOT in the last few years.

I was a boy scout myself, but all of my camping was in Florida. We never worried about snow. We were too busy fighting off mosquitos the size of Rottweilers! Either that or bailing out our tents after a monsoon. The scout camp was next to the Florida East Coast Railroad, so I got to do some train watching as some elderly F units and newer GP-7s cruised down the mainline.

Good morning all, hope everyone is doing well.

Got up into the 70s yesterday, clear blue skys with a few puffy white clouds. Almost back to normal, other than the ground is soaked. Got some new engines on Sunday, but haven't had time to play.

Skyray awesome time, hope you had a blast this weekend.

Chief, see you were mean and sent rain to CA, so we returned it back. Get better.

Gotta get the kids ready for school, take care all.

First time at the coffee pot. I've been painting on the wall mural for my layout and if I may say so myself, I'm very pleased with the way the mural is turning out. Sky, distant mountains and nearby hils are done. Intermediate mountains yet to go. The article in CCT 12/04 pg 62 was my inspiration, and it has been fun and fairly easy. BTW I am in no way shape or form an artist, but following the instructions and and little reading on how to paint landscapes, it's turning out good.

Hello all!

Gotta love that post by Dave about humping!

And Dave - hope they have the anthrax under control. The news I saw said all mail to Pentagon is irradiated which apparently kills anthrax spores.

Chief - please get well soon!

I also remember some bizarre Scout campouts as a kid - snowed and this was an hour outside of Houston! I am also surprised our leader survived us!

YAnks sent some winter back to us - 30's this morning and 40's today with rain and drizzle. Ugh.

Robotics class starts up today for the Spring semester and competition, so I gotta leave to teach.

Have a great day all!

Roy
