I think you might be able to modify a 1:48 scale car by cannibalizing one of the 1:35 cars. I have heard of R/C being done as small as 1:87.....it was done with a Wiking or Herpa panel van, I guess because then van has a little more room for circuitry.

Thaks Dr. John for the inquiry. Tamiflu seems to be doing its thing. [:)] Ran trains and even took two NS Beeps apart and lubed the gears. Got them back together and gave them a test run. Sure glad Jimbo Duda told me how to get them apart. Used the carpet for a work bench and the poor overhead lighting. I had seen the three wire connectors under the printed cirucit board but thought they were "pressed" on. Got good light down in there and saw they were screws. Think I'll have boiled ham and squash for dinner. Must be getting well, finally hungry. [:D]

Hey Chief,

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I just bought what appears to be a 1/50 scale RC car at Walmart for about $10. It is a Jesse James (of West Coast Choppers fame - eg Monster Garage) and is a late 40's Ford Coupe hot rod. I was able to drive it around the layout, but it is geared for speed. I am going to take it apart some day to see if it can be regeared.

I also got a 1/48 or 1/50 59 Caddy and a Ford P/U (I think the P/U is similar to some found by Spanky a while back - a pull backward to wind up and let it go toy) for $1.97 each! BTW - the tags on some of these say 1/43, but no way. They are undersized for 1/43. They also had a Red Baron hot rod (remember that!), but it was a bit larger than 1/43 so I passed on it. Wi***hose folks in China would learn what 1/43, 1/48, and 1/50 scale measurements were. !/48 would be even better.

Cold here and heading into 30's tonight. Supposed to start warming on Friday.

Regards,
Roy

Good evening all, hope everyone is doing well.

Today was one of the most beautiful days ever. Now I am reminded again why we put up with CA garbage. 78 today, perfect. But the rain is coming starting friday.

This is train related [well, go around your elbow to get to your thumb]. I had to call US Airways to cancel my reservations to Columbus, Ohio due to the Wheeling Cabela's Show being canceled. Well, I could not do it on line so I called and after many prompts, I held for 35 minutes. Finally got a guy who canceled the reservations. Now the ticket is still open but I have to call back and go through prompts and get the re-issue desk to use it again. None of this can be done on line per the guy [rental car and hotel, I could] . As you all know, I have had horrible service from US Airways. Delayed flights, delays that resulted in rebooking on later flights with long waits, canceled flights at the last minute and very poor service. No wonder they are going broke. Now how does this relate to trains? The flight to and from Columbus was so I could raid the Buckeye layout and run his trains in southern style. [:D] Now I am not getting to go. [:(] All have a good night and God bless all. [:)]

It was pretty nice here today. I think it got up above freezing. [:)] Have I ever mentioned that I own stock in US Air. They help me keep the rif raf out of Ohio. Usually do a darn nice job of it. [:D]

Top 'o the mornin' to you, lads! [:D]

Tis a foin, foin day down in Prattville! (Okay, I'll lose the phony accent.)

Actually, it is cold and rainy this AM. Hope the weather clears by Saturday AM so I can move stuff from the apartment to the house. Weather report is promising.

Have a great day everyone! I'm off in search of a new refrigerator. ( I never knew that it is easier to buy a house than to buy a refrigerator. That is WAY too long of a story for this forum [xx(] ).

Happy St. Patricks Day to all the Irish, and wanna be Irish.

Hoping my dad cooks his famous Corn Beef and cabbage today, mouth is watering already.

Laz, since you are serving, do we have some green coffee this morning?

Hope everyone has a great day, it should hit 75 agan today, then rain and yuck tomorrow thru the weekend. Trimmed the edges yesterday, mowing today, so all is ready for rain.

Two relatives having surgery, 1 yesterday, 1 today. One more under observation.

My son's recovery has been awesome, he doesn't snore, and can hear extremely well. Like a whole new world for him.

Take care all,

More crappy weather down here...

http://www.weather.com/activities/travel/businesstraveler/weather/tenday.html?locid=78759

Too much green beer -
You'll pee like a steer
And today is St. Patty's Day!

So drink lots o' suds
With friends and with buds
CELEBRATE! What can I say?

But down here in Austin
(It's different than Boston)
I'll color my MILK 'til it's green...

I'll go cut some grass
And fall on my TexASS -
...and smile, if you know what I mean...(wink)
Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

Morning gang. HUMMM late. [:D] Went back to bed and snoozed a while. Especially since it is SNOHIOing here. Yes, them Yankees are still trying to take the south. We are winning as the temps are too high to stick. Does look pretty though. Get to stay inside and rest up. Might run some trains. TTim, glad Trevor is doing great.
Dr. John will recognize this one. An Ohio church for sure.
You Know Your Church Is An Ohio Church ..
1.If the finance committee refuses to provide funds for the purchase of a chandelier because none of the members knows how to play one.
2.If people ask, when they learn that Jesus fed the 5000, whether the two fish were bass or catfish, and what bait was used to catch 'em.
3. When the pastor says,"I'd like to ask Bubba to help take up the offering," five guys and two women stand up.
4. If opening day of deer season is recognized as an official church holiday.
5. If a member of the church requests to be buried in his 4-wheel-drive truck because "It ain't never been in a hole it couldn't get out of." (Love it!)
6. If the choir is known as the Hillbilly Hummers
7. If, in a congregation of 500 members, there are only seven last names in the church directory.
8. If Baptism is referred to as "branding".
9. If high notes on the organ set the dogs on the floor to howling.
10. If people think "rapture"is what you get when you lift something too heavy.
11. If the baptismal pool is a #2 galvanized washtub.
12. If the choir robes were donated by (and embroidered with the logo from) Billy Bob's Barbecue.
13. If the collection plates are really hub caps from a '56 Chevy.
14. If instead of a bell, you are called to service by a duck call.
15. If the minister and his wife drive matching pickup trucks.
16. If the communion wine is Boone's Farm "Tickled Pink".
17. If "Thou shalt not covet"applies to hunting dogs and boats, too.
18. If the final words of the benediction are, "Y'all come back now!! Ya Hear"

With that, I will say, God bless all. [;)]

Tom, got your tomato plants up and growing? your squash and cucumber plants up and growing? your garden tilled and ready? Its not spring. [;)] All my plants are up [in the greenhouse of course], my garden is tilled [has been] but not ready. Been too wet. When it dries out and I can get my rows and beds ready, it will be spring for me. Oh, and I start catching those crappies. [:D]

Good morning and official Happy St Patrick's day [^]

Beautiful day here, sunny, starting in the low 40's and headed for the 60's.

We know its spring here because the weeds are exploding.

TTim - glad to hear your son is doing so well!

Jim D - great poem.

Chief - the stated geographic region of that church looks suspicious. [;)]

Have a great day all!

Begosh and begorra, top 'o the day to ye all. The Chicago River is green and it's snowing... I remember the days I would celebrate all day in a pub. Ah weeel.... Great poem, Jim. I am going to the same church as you mentioned tonight, Chief. Going to try to raise $1.6 million to build out a rented warehouse for services... Is it really Spring today? It's snowed all day. I'm working with the middle boy on a diorama on the Wright Brothers flight for a science fair at church tomorrow night - we made a paper model and are hanging it from a latticework, with plenty of play-sand to make some dunes. He's writing up some cue cards. Have a good day!

Neat! You're right, Tom, the rise and set (can't see either for the clouds) show it's spring! We took a great 'Virtual Tour' of the Kitty Hawk monument - complete with Park Service ranger - in doing our research - I spent an evening 'locked in' at the Dayton airport back when Republic Air was still flying. I was bouncing my way across the country from NYC to LA. That must count for something. . .

Congrats to laz on his 502th post...

BTW,
Happy St. Patrick's Day

Now back to the bar and hopefully I don't need to put my glass down again to straighten out this silliness about NC knowing anything about flying a plane. Also, they didn't call our first railroad the Baltimore and North Carolina, it was called the Baltimore and Ohio because we could keep the train on the tracks.

Buckeye, you are wrong. I was the first to land on the moon. Famous transmission: "Tranquility Base to Houston, The EAGLE has landed." [:D] Buckeye, Bob Keller is working on your suggestion of a folder for good train ideas like Jimbo posted. Seems they also work like "giverment". Causes meetings and more meetings to get it done.
