Good morning all

Scratch have fun at the MC concert. Should be great.

You north easterners sure seems cold to me back there. SoCal would be paralyzed with your weather. Just be careful out there.

Tom how has Spanky been doing? Nice pic. That is how I run my trains, opposite directions. Don't know why just always have.

Alright with Chief gone, the first southern joke

How come in the south they are converting all their football fields to artificial turf ?

To keep the cheerleaders from grazin' at halftime.

Picked that up at cheerleader conference last trip.

Take care all

Tim (yes the souths cheerleaders do win all the events)

Redhawk,

That is tragic. My co sells public safety radio networks and we have many friends in the RCMP. Thanks for letting us know. I have forwarded the info to my CA counterpart.

Started out raining here, but is clearing and warming up finally.

Talked to my Aunt in Akron yesterday. They were gridlocked in snow. My cousin was stuck in Erie (traveling from Niagara back to Akron) due to the snow and ice.

Buckeye and Turbo1 - let's "git 'er done"...

For the Chief in his absence (from Jeff Foxworthy): You know you're a redneck when you have a home that is mobile and 6 cars in the yard that are not.

Tom - great photo today.

Have a great day all!

Good morning all,

I've been here - stting back in the corner with my back against the wall - listening. Seems to be a bit quiet today.

This was supposed to be "the day" for construction of my shelf railroad featuring the Lionel Polar Express that didn't arrive (as promised) yesterday. Well, now that I'm over my initial "snit," let's just say I've moved on to not holding any grudges - BUT - I'm as vindictive as hell!

So - Monday it will be here and I can get started. This project of mine is a new one for me in that I've never built a shelf railroad operation. It will be as basic as one can get - just a large oval of track situated 10" down from the ceiling. 'Round and 'round it will go - and when one of my five grandkids see's it (soon to be 6) he will take it over!

The controls will be put in a place convenient for little people to run the train. I'll safeguard against plunges to the floor by putting up a plexiglass shield. This should be a great time for all.

I may have mentioned this previously, but he's been "cultivated" and there's no doubt of his love for trains. He's been on Amtrak (twice) with me between Kirkwood and Jefferson City, MO and was in a trance for the trip. Just couldn't get him away from the window. The train crew got a kick out of him ...... so did my son and I!

Regarding the kidding around over which part of the country is better - I think I'll sit that one out! I have lived in New York - Connecticut - Massachusetts - Virginia - Alaska - California and Missouri. Ohio was my "home of record" for well over half of my 32 year career in the military. I have found some positives with each and every place I've been to - some better than others, of course, and some I'd rather not return to! So, whether you are north or south of Mason-Dixon, let me say that I prefer the cold climates. Alaska is just fine, with Canada right behind. (We are a Canadian-American twosome.)

Okay - enough. Gotta go. May or may not be "in" this weekend - so have a happy ......

.
Happy Railroading! Siberianmo

Finally, a beautiful day for my day off, bright and sunny and currently 59. Spent the morning running errands and just finished putting down 3 X 50lbs, bags of weed and feed on the front lawn. When I'm done on the forum I think I'll go spend some time working on the layout.

Dave, your photos came through as the infamous boxed red X on my computer, don't know if it's my problem or yours but I'd sure like to see what you posted.

Dave,

Your assumption is correct. Any photos you want to stay on the forum have to stay active on the hosting web site. The code you write here for the photos always directs to your photo hosting website whenever a post is opened by a forum user. Thus once you remove any photos from your photo host - they will disaapear from here. This keeps photos from chewing up CTTs bandwidth and storage.

BTW - you can also host photos from Comcast if you still have them as a service.

Forgot to mention I really like the "cake," especially the "Ding Dongs" at the top layer!

Good one Doug, Of course she will!

Roy,

Thanks,

That's why the X boxes. Man, I thought CTT was hosting. But I am. :-(

I'll have to figure out about Comcast, as if I don't I'll quickly run out of bandwidth on Village and Shutter.

And it is fixing to SNOW in southern California [were the bride and groom are the same sex] and Texas where one of the couple will be a bovine. I have found out that there are two types of Yankees. Nice southern ones from Lazland and D--n rude northern ones like in this place [includes those who migrate from VA into the Pentagon]. Then there is this guy at BPS that says he is a Rebel from the dairy area of Maryland. Now the most inbred Yankees are in WV but only because they moved from OHIO due to the poor living conditions in Ohio. This bad cold is really getting me down but still selling chargers. Hey, this place has train tracks and trains. Now that I have gotten to be rude to all my "friends", I can say God bless all. [:D] [you never know when and where the Chief will surface [;)][}:)]]

Can't find sweet ice tea here in Yankeeland. Seems all the restaurants have Pepsi products [born in NC] instead of Coke. [:D] Late working tonight. Had to take out one of the big wheels from Springfield headquarters BPS. Real nice guy. Originally from OK. Not a Yankee. Noticed the real bad guys went and hid as soon as I got on here. Just like a bunch of Yanks from Ohio. Rebels get on their butts and they turn and run. Good night and God bless. cough cough cough

LIVE, It's Saturday Morning

I am sick and tired of hearing about how dumb people
are in the South. I challenge any so-called smart
Yankees to take this exam required for graduation
from a well-known Suthern University in Rosyville, NC.
(Just remember, the Chief knows all of this stuff.)

1. Calculate the smallest limb diameter on a
persimmon tree that will support a 10 pound possum.

2. Which of these cars will rust out the quickest
when placed on blocks in your front yard?
(A) '65 Ford Fairlane
(B) '69 Chevrolet Chevelle, or
(C) '64 Pontiac GTO.

3. If your uncle builds a still which operates at a
capacity of 20 gallons of shine produced per hour,
how many car radiators are required to condense the
product?

4. A woodcutter has a chain saw which operates at
2700 RPM. The density of the pine trees in the plot
to be harvested is 470 per acre. The plot is 2.3
acres in size. The average tree diameter is 14
inches. How many Budweisers will be drunk before the
trees are cut down?

5. If every old refrigerator in the state vented a
charge of R-12 simultaneously, what would be the
percentage decrease in the ozone layer?

6. A front porch is constructed of 2x8 pine on
24-inch centers with a field rock foundation. The
span is 8 feet and the porch length is 16 feet. The
porch floor is 1-inch rough sawn pine. When the
porch collapses, how many hound dogs will be killed?

7. A man owns a Tennessee house and 3.7 acres of
land in a hollow with an average slope of 15%. The
man has five children. Can each of his grown
children place a mobile home on the man's land and
still have enough property for their electric
appliances to sit out front?

8. A 2-ton truck is overloaded and proceeding 900
yards down a steep slope on a secondary road at 45
MPH. The brakes fail. Given average traffic
conditions on secondary roads, what is the
probability that it will strike a vehicle with a
muffler?

9. A coal mine operates a NFPA Class 1, Division 2
Hazardous Area. The mine employs 120 miners per
shift. A gas warning is issued at the beginning of
the 3rd shift. How many cartons of unfiltered Camels
will be smoked during the shift?

10. At a reduction in the gene pool variability rate
of 7.5% per generation, how long will it take a town
which has been bypassed by the Interstate to breed a
country-western singer?

I betcha thought that there test was gonna be an
easy one, didn't ya? It's okay if'n ya didn't do
all that well. Just goes to show ya... they do
everything different in Rosyville, NC.

Buckeye that is great. I still am laughing.

Rain has returned tonight. Made sure the ditches are clear, so the backyard doesn't turn into a swamp again.

Gotta go to bed, you all take care now.
