Scratch, I remember living in South Bend, Indiana beneath the shawdow of the dome, where every day in January and February it seemed to snow. I assume your hobbies are snow shoveling and trains.

Since the Chief is in Memphis, we can tell Chief jokes this weekend. Do we have anyone on the forum from Memphis that can check to see if the Chief is behaving while in town?

Turbo, is there any danger from the dams in the area. In January, when Ohio had the flooding problems we had a small dam breach in NE Ohio.

morning all,

Ran the hound thru snow yesterday. BB the beagle sniffed out a rodent under the snow and tried to dig it out. Created a massive hole, but by then, the rodent must have taken off thru its tunnel. BB followed the scent and tried to dig several more holes where the exits are, but it was getting dark and cold and returned home where I spent 90 minutes airbrushing my backdrop (pictures posted on another post)

Roger, I burst out laughing too. Just a few flurries this morning - due to clear later - happily back at work - even with a mound of things to catch up on. Targeting this weeked when the baby is napping to try to build my tunnel. Sure seems quiet when Chief is traveling...

I can see it now, Duda with a snow blower doing all the ladies driveways. Maybe he can convert it for leaves and grass!

Good morning all. Doug, sounds like things have improved at your abode!

Tim, have you bought your Arizona or Nevada beach front yet?

Sunny and cool here, 50's today.

Went to train club meeting last night. Had a good turnout with several new member prospects. Two were there with their children and grandchildren letting them run trains. They had a great time.

Have a great day all!

FJ & G ! I think you should design a new toy train accessory featuring BB the Beagle! It can work like this: Picture a Dog house with a beagle in it that works like a Gateman who comes out everytime a Rabbit or Skunk passes by it complete with Beagle Bark sounds and a figure of BB coming out of the Doghouse to chase the varmits away![:)] For more fun there can be a Garage on the property with a Corvair in it ! The owner runs to the garage to help out BB only to find that the car will not start. A sound board with the sound of a Corvair attempting to start up should complete the action and fun of such an accessory ![;)][:D].........Keith

Buckeye,

Ditto on the LOL.

Torpedo,

That would be kinda neat. But what really is interesting is that I built an exit with ramps to the yard for BB the beagle inside the window. The ramps go thru 2 of the lower train shelves so in fact, my layout has a hound crossing. Might be unique?

When I fini***hose 2 sections I'll have to build removable sections. The only problem would be if she comes in from the yard, not realizing the sections are in place and gets run over by a train. :-) :-(

T G I F

My boss must have hated me today, my first meeting was at 7:30am, next one at 9:00am until 1:30pm, then one at 2:00 until 3:30 and then from 3:30 until 4:00pm. Hardly time for potty break. Boy am I glad that today is over.

This Dam was on the Chagrin River, which is only a couple of miles from my house. Good thing we are very high compared to the river.

Cnw1995 – Doug we love that song.

Well we have a few snow flakes coming down, might get an inch or two overnight.

All be safe

Good Morning America and other parts of the planet
Roy, some words of advice, go buy some flowers for you wife for chaperoning the dance. If you don't you might end up being the chaperon for the next big event and we both know that engineers and dances are like gasoline and water.

With the Chief in Memphis, we are missing his words of wisdom on the forum this weekend. As a tribute to our Chief, I have decided to post his past words of wisdom so that there is not a break in our education.

[:)] Remember, "ya'll" is singular, "all ya'll" is plural, and "all ya'll's"
is plural possessive.

[:)] Get used to hearing "You ain't from round here, are ya?"

[:)] You may hear a Southerner say "Ought!" to a dog or child. This is short
for "Ya'll ought not do that!" and is the equivalent of saying "No!"

[:)] Don't be worried at not understanding what people are saying. They
can't understand you either.

[:)] The first Southern expression to creep into a transplanted Yankee's
vocabulary is the adjective "big'ol," truck or "big'ol" boy. Most
Northerners begin their Southern-influenced dialect this way. All of
them are in denial about it.

[:)] The proper pronunciation you learned in school is no longer proper.

[:)] Be advised that "He needed kill'n" is a valid defense here.

[:)] If you hear a Southerner exclaim, "Hey, ya'll, watch this," stay out
of the way. These are likely to be the last words he'll ever say.

[:)] If there is the prediction of the slightest chance of even the smallest
accumulation of snow, your presence is required at the local grocery
store. It doesn't matter whether you need anything or not. You just have
to go there.

[:)] When you come upon a person driving 15 mph down the middle of the road,
remember that most folks learn to drive on a John Deere, and that is the
proper speed and position for that vehicle.

[:)] Do not be surprised to find that 10 year olds own their own shotguns, they
are proficient marksmen, and their mammas taught them how to aim.

[:)] In the South, we have found that the best way to grow a lush green lawn
is to pour gravel on it and call it a driveway.

[:)] If you do settle in the South and bear children, don't think we will
accept them as Southerners. After all, if the cat had kittens in the
oven, we wouldn't call 'em biscuits.

Over the last year, many of the regulars on the forum are using a small photo in their signiture line. I think many of you now have found out that the photo acts like a book mark and you can find your last post on a topic very quickly. [:D]

Great weekend coming up in Buckeye Land. There are train shows and the fishing has commenced. The Big Steelies will be running soon. Of course we are starting to get ready for the next big holiday, St. Patrick's Day. Tom, I'm expecting a great holiday display similiar to your Halloween trains.

Everyone have a great weekend and as the Chief would say to you this morning, God Bless

Morning all, my wife and daugther (seemingly healthy enough - cept for colds) are going off all day to a mom-daughter retreat at a local church - I'm with the boys - including the 2 yr old who decided to get up at 5 today. I think we'll go hang out at Home Depot later... ;) What great advice about the flowers. I've randomly bought homw flowers recently - and it is appreciated. Beautiful but cold day today - reminds me how long it's been since I've seen the sun. Whoops, 2 yr. old pulling something big out of the pantry - gotta go

Dave(FJ&G) Looks like you'll have to install Crossing Gates with flashing lights for BB the Beagle so that she will not get run over by a train from your layout or maybe you can rig up a Automatic Gateman with a lantern for BB as a precaution![:)][:)] If you do this maybe CTT can do a feature story about your layout with a Dog crossing incorporated into it[^] For BB the Rabbit chaser hound! ..............Keith

Buckeye, There is only one that you left out. No no don't blame yourself, being a yank you could'nt help it.
It is the phrase.." Bless Her Heart" and only natural born southerners like myself would know it
You can say anything about anyone , without hurting their feelings or insulting them as long as you end the sentence with ,Bless Her..or His Heart. Here's an example.
She is so bucktooth , she can eat corn through a picket fence...Bless Her Heart.
I'm sure you get the gist of this so you will be able to communicate with southeners better.

I have been down with the flu since Tuesday. High fever and major conjestion. Tonite is the first time I have been upright for any length of time. Feeling better since the fever broke this afternoon. Have'nt seen snow here in several weeks, It's killing the ski resorts. From talking with the old timers in the area, there has'nt been a winter like this since the mid 1960's.

Tim, I didn't think germs stood a chance against the clear mountain air in Idaho. Get well soon, buddy! I've heard that Bless His/Her Heart stuff before and it is true! They say that just on the other side of the Ohio River in Kentucky.

Isn't the flu just the most fun thing you ever have done? If you really are looking for fun, try kidney stones....big ones!
