Sounds like something I would hear in a club on the south side of Chicago...
The daughter is in the immediate care with the wife - dehydrated and with the flu and maybe mono - I'm holding down the fort.

Anyone ever seen the K-Line battery-powered train sets? - I think they were a SP GP9 or a Pennsy GP9, boxcar, tank and caboose. I was thinking of tracking one down and experimentng with some R/C aircraft batteries. Come to think of it I may not be doing anything when I get this hospital bill.... today is turning out like a country music song where everything's going wrong.

Doug,

Sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she gets much better soon. Flu and Mono is not a good combination. Hard to tell when she is recovering. All I remember of Mono while in college is sleeping for nearly 2 weeks straight. It was difficult to keep up with classes.

Doug M., hope they get OK fast. Then you will not have to spend the train $$$ too. No trees in the pond today. Perfect day but spent most of the day in greenhouse. Seed starting soil was all peat I think. Was so dry it would not soak up California's extra rain. [;)] Actually floated the little pots in a bucket of water and they would not soak it up then. Lots of trays of tomatoes, cucs, squash and peppers [hot, super hot and bell]. Was 3:00 when I got through. Too late to mess with pond [good thing I've learned, "it can be done tomorrow", meaning next week as I will be gone]. Got to pack. Skyray, will have to check on that show you are talking about. Might just sneak away from BPS and see. Later

Thanks to all for the well wishes, since the trench all seems well.

Hey Dougdegrump, glad you are ok, yes the weather is getting old. FAST. Don't know how those Seattle people put up with this. [8D]

Doug M, I suggessted one of those battery powered jobs to my neighbors and they have been very happy with it. They might even be moving into the hobby in the near future. [^]

Hey Doug and Turbo, hope things start to dry out for you guys. Would not even wi***hat on Yankees. [;)] Maybe it will not turn too dry now and things start to burn. I guess all that brown grass I saw in pastures [folks out there call it golden [;)]] when I was there, is green now. Cattle had cut trails to the water tanks. Good luck guys.

Doug, sounds like your duaghter has what my daughter-in-law had a couple of weeks ago, high fever etc., when she was able to get to the doctors he also ordered tests for mono and prescribed an antibiotic. Whether the anti. helped, or nature ran its course, she was better in about 5 days but still a bit run down for another week Hope she's up and about soon..

Chief, Do you order any of the "Heirloom" tomatoes, they are so much better than those geneticly altered things.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The wife is sleeping in the daughter's room tonight since she's worried 'bout her (and a pediatric nurse too) but she seems a bit better - I just have to keep the other kids, pets, etc out of their way - she does have some real serious antibiotic to take and like laz says to push fluids. I burnt the pork chops tonight. Whoops. That's why I'm tapping away on the laptop in bed - I am jealous of those of you who are gardening and working outside - even in the rain I guess - as the heater roars in the background ;) Have a good night! Man, I may get one of those battery kits to play with...

We may actually go a whole night without having floods. More rain coming, but if we can get a few days of sun, we should make it.

Will start benchwork again this week, hopefully garage layout will have all the benchwork done.

Got a buddy started on trains. He bought a HO set at hobby shop for $21. Now he stops at a garage sale and picked up a lionel O gauge layout for $30. It whistles lights and smokes. He is getting excited about trains.

Hope everyone is doing well, and have a great day tomorrow.

Doug in SD stay off the 163 til the trees quit falling. Three days in a row, too much

Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is quite for now. Temp at 25, and maybe snow on the way, depends on which weatherman you listen to as to how much.

Hope the rain stops for Sunny Cal folks.

Cnw1995 –Doug, try to keep the family healthy, it’s good that you are helping out so much.

Chief – have a safe trip[:)]

Freight train ahead of our VRE train this morning killed a trespasser. Our train stopped in Alexandria and they let us ride Metro free to the Pentagon so that the body can be removed from the tracks.

Snowing out.

Good morning coffee clubbers, it is a beautiful CA sunny day so far. The sun is out and non clouds in sight. Maybe we can start to dry out.

Chief, have a safe trip.

Spanky, no signs of parrots since the rain started.

Laz, good idea, but I would rather drink a mud slide. Ummmm Kaluha.

John, how are things up in the great white north ?

Doug, hope everyone is getting better, and that the White Sox have a good season, they deserve one after all these years. Wilber Wood was always my fav. ever since he started both games of double header.

Roy and Jim, according to the news, are rain is now in Texas, how is it treating you guys?

Take care all

Hello All!

Tim, we have had a nice 1.75 inches in north Texas the last two days. We needed it as it had been getting dry here. Hope you guys get some relief out there.

Doug - glad to hear your daughter is getting better. Again, all my best for her speedy recovery.

Chief - take care and have a safe trip!

Tom, that is a really good picture - good composition, angle, action, etc!

Snow belters - stay warm!

Have a great day all!
Roy

I just got back from Huntington, WV. Snow all the way home through the hills of southern Ohio. For you folks that are not familiar with this area, the Ohio River is the focal point for everything. Big coal trains from southern WV follow the rivers to the major cities in the north such as Detroit.

Doug, sick kids is not a fun experience. Sick wife is worse.

Those California landslides are very serious. When I hear our geologists at work talk, the developers will build anything anywhere.

Well, the past two days have been just like the lyrics to my new favorite country song by the groups Lonestar (easy there, Jim)... And I paraphrase...

Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the fifteenth time
Breakfast six, naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr. Mom

Football, soccer and ballet
Squeeze in Scouts and PTA
And there's that shopping list she left
That's seven pages long
How much smoke can one stove make
The kids won't eat my charcoal cake
It's more than any maid can take
Being Mr. Mom

Almost a whole day of sunshine. We got 0.01" of rain today, wonder how they measured that. Everyone is digging out and smiling with the sunshine.

Roy, you and Jim can have it. We need to dry out, but yet another one coming in this wekend. Our lakes are starting to fill up, but so is everything else.

Hope you snow birds stay warm, lets be careful out there.

It's in the lower 40's so far this morning, sky's brightened up enough to see that its a cloudy day out there. Still wet out from yesterday, looks like another Friday off without getting early spring lawn work started. Guess I'll get going on making that pot of jambmlaya I promised the grandaughters I'd have for supper tonight.

If I can figure out how to set the Mrs.'s digital camera for an extended timed exposure I have a night photo of the layout I want to try for posting. Otherwise, I'll take it with the trusty 35mm and have the roll developed onto a disc..

Doug, that song Mr. Mom, says it all. The first time I heard it I burst out laughing, it reminded me of sitting for the girls before I went back to work part time.

Have a good day all.
