Has anyone seen Doug lately? I read a post where he was teaching a computer class one night and posting on the fourm at the same time.

Hello everyone, I see no harm being done by this thread and there is a lot of train discussion here. I can't imagine that it would get stopped. Hope not anyways. If it did get stopped, I have a forum on my site that no one uses, you all would be welcome to have the coffee pot there. But I do think that this is a better place for it. Hope everyone has had a good day.

Heat wave continues 52 today

Great pics Chris, keep em coming.

Chief, You may need to go to the Sheriffs office and get an eviction notice. Have your son serve it on himself, and that would get the train room cleaned out. See there guys all you have to do is think like a southerner. I dont have any trouble doing that. Maybe thats because I was born in Alabama where everyone has the same DNA.

Left Bank Tim...Layout looking good.. Is that Dept 56 houses? If so I may have something for you.

Got the coal loader and ramp controls hooked up today. Also 2 gargraves uncouplers/unloaders. Got 2 more switches and about 40 more feet of track to put down and the second level will be complete.Had a good experience with Gargraves, check my post on Gargraves

Enough for now................Tim

I knew there was something good about PETIm. A Southerner. [:D] Man, the indigestion has gotten better. Wow, that was no fun. Went to recliner and watched a bunch of Sopranos. Best thing I took was Alka Seltzer. My Dad's cure for everything. Cold, sore throat, indigestion or hang nail. Good night and God bless.

Chief - I am in major Sopranos withdrawal. Have you heard anything as to when the fifth season will be released on dvd? It is way past due.

Alka Seltzer - remember alka seltzer in the glass tube with the styrafoam tablet at each end? That had a serious cost of packaging

Good evening all, hope everyone is doing well.

Parrot update, they are the other side of town, by my parents house. Seems they don't stay in the same part long.

The winds were 20 to 30 mph today, and some gusts up to 50. It still is 61 tonight at 10pm my time. Warm.

PEtim, sounds like a major heat wave for you. Maybe cause of the beer fish. Love catching them. [:D] About half of my buildings are dept 56. Let me know.

Chief, get better, prayers for better health are sent.

Laz, Tom, Buckeye, I have screw gun, will travel. We can rebuild the south 1 train table at a time. [:o)] [:o)] [:o)] [:o)]

Nice pics Chris.

Take care all,

Tim

Good Morning,

We are in the midst of a tropical heat wave, supposed to hit 60 today. Time to pump up the bike tires and work the knees today. There's a fun bike ride tomorrow called BRR (Bike Ride To Rippey) and I think we are going to go, it's only 24 miles round trip and it will be highly attended as the weather is so good right now. Had a good friend go last year and it was just bitter and snowy, his left crank arm broke and he rode all the way back to Des Moines with just his right shoe clipped in, he's an excellent athlete and was well lubricated.

The boss told me last night we need about 70 yards of material for the skirting and she's ready to start. Maybe I should have considered N scale!

Everyone enjoy your weekend!
Jon

Here I am, Buckeye! Thanks for missing me. I just checked in on the forum while the class was working on an assignment. Supposed to warm up to 47 today - whoo hoo. I saw a great color picture in an old Trains magazine of one of the C&O 'yellow belly' steam engines the other day - what a magnificent beast - I'm sure someone has produced this in our scale - was it MTH? I also ran across some old boxcars on a severed siding behind a fish warehouse in the western suburbs the other day- there's a blueish one lettered for NYC, an old Tropicana reefer and a couple I couldn't make out without trespassing. I'll bet they've been there for a long time. I'll try to post some pictures.

I just saw Spankybird's photo of the day - It sure looks like the C&O

Good Morning all, hope everyone is warming up.

We had such a good response to the canned CA sun. See you all are warming up. Lots of cans, order more, start spring early.

Road Trip, we can all stop by Larrys in Nevada, and see if we can win enough to fix a lot of tables. Have screw gun, will travel !!

Take care and have a fantastic, CA sunny day. [8D][8D][8D][8D]

CAB1 came today so I could do Lionel TMCC lashups. Busy day on the railroad.

A Lionel SD80 MAC/MTH DASH 8 dummy/Lionel SD80 MAC lashed together and then two MTH SD90's pulling their own trains. All being run by remotes. And someone claimed that a KW will not run several engines. 8 motors on one KW plus lights and accessories. [;)]

Yes, I can run the rear one in reverse and turn headlights off. I have lots of pictures of real NS diesels with three lashed together and all facing forward. I ran them all ways [dummy in front, dummy behind, reverse and etc.]. The only thing I so not like about the TMCC lashups is the back engine has to be selected to make the back coupler work. I can do it easily but MTH lashups alloys the back engine's rear most [depending on the direction it is facing] coupler to work by hitting the rear coupler button. I do notice I can control TMCC speeds better with the CAB1by "feathering" the throttle knob. Does not jerk as bad slowing from high speeds as with the MTH remote.

You can la***hem so the R opens on the rear unit and the F opens on the front! Also, for the lights too.

He's my attempt at linking to some old boxcars pictures I mentioned above - These were taken by another visitor. Instead of posting the picture, and finding it's too big or clogs your browser - I'll put up the links - except for the the NYC boxcar which is the coolest.

Thanks Chris. If I had read the instructions first, I could have gotten it. Had back engine setup as middle engine. Got it and works great. Back coupler works and lights work right too.

Chief, if I have told you once I have told you a hundred times, Shimano is the way to go for reels. Please pay better attention the next time you take my fishing class. BTW, I think you still owe me money from the last class.

Shimano - Daiwa - CAB-1...even the TexASS kiddoes know which one NOT to use to catch fish. Can't you just see Chiefie at the BPS demonstrating his newest "reel" to the uninformed? Lazzie - after he leaves your area you'll understand why the OHIO and TEXASS Troopers have an APB in effect at all border crossings! God help you...
Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

Chief,
Change your batteries. When the batteries start to die, the throttle is the first thing to go. I found this out the hard way the first time I used TMCC and tried to power the CAB-1 with spent digital camera batteries.

By the way, I would highly suggest that you use fresh name brand batteries, i.e. Duracells or Energizers. In my experience, lesser expensive batteries don't provide enough "ooomph" to get very far away from the command base, last very long in the CAB-1, or power a Railsounds shut-down sequence. My CAB-1 currently has 4 Energizer AAs, and my engines all have Energizer 9 volts for the times when I turn them off without doing a CAB-1 power down.

Hello all, make a cherry smoothie for me please,

Did I miss something or did Duda get a new hat ??? Just when I was getting used to the old one. Him not the hat. [:o)] Some Texass humor.

Chief, you got to have a terrific day it looks like. How do they say it. The worst day playing trains is better than the best day working.

Buckeye, I thought we were suppossed to use a rope and a stick. NO wonder I can't catch anything but a cold.

Doug, cool cars, thanks for sharing the links and pic.

Chris, I gotta know, do you have the model version of the engine in your pic ???

Take care guys, have a great evening.

Ben, they are new Energizers and it will reach downstairs where the DCS remote will not. Plaster walls and they have metal in them as well as BX cable. It still will not wind in my fishing line. [;)] fun. Use CAB1 for the lashup adn use the DCS remote to move them around separate of the lashup. couple them back up and hit the CAB1 and off we go in lashup. FUN Going rabbit hunting tomorrow AM with Frankie and his Deputy buddies so may not visit coffee pot until tomorrow PM.
