Windy and turnning

                                 C

                        O

                                     D

                                           !!!!!!!!

Watered greenhouse and then got up leaves.  Used JD to aerate and to spread out lime and fertilizer on front lawn.   Love those "pull behinds".   Then got old push lawn mower out of storage.  Been 5 years since cranked.  Changed oil, cleaned it up, removed plug, sprayed Slick 50 One Lube in sparkplug hole, pulled rope 4 times, put sparkplug back in, put in new gasoline and pulled rope.  Fired on first pull.  Smoked until One Lube was burned out.  Runs great.  This is a one in a life time mower.  Pam bought it from Roses for $99 in 1986 the summer we moved here.  28 inch cut.  Replaced axles and wheels.  Replaced blades.  Replaced sparkplug.  Replaced pull rope.  Push cut this big yard [before Pam started flower beds] for years [Frankie and I together].  3HP Briggs engine.  Kept it serviced with oil changes and aircleaner.  Dad finally gave me his old Murray rider and it rattled and smoked  for several years as he had worn it out.  Finally got new big Murray [42 inch rider with bagging unit] when Roses went under [got it at half price].  Mowed and sucked leaves for 8 years.  Got JD in 2004 and gave Frankie Murray.  Still going strong for him.  23 years old and this old push mower is headed to the lake house to trim the ditch bank that is too steep for JD and too long to weedeat.  Only a Post War Lionel electric train runs longer.

Bed time.  Got Town retreat in our new building so it is really our yearly workshop.  Mainly budget shortfall [not bad].  Then leave at 2 to go to 3 PM meeting with two Congressmen on Stimulus Package.  Then hope to head to the lake with new furniture and come back Sat afternoon.  Good night.

PS: You know that Buckeye is a fine fellow for a Yankee and especially being from up North in Ohio.

Doug - did they break the wax ring seal on the toilet?  Maybe only need to replace that and then repaint?  Good luck!

Went to work today and made it through to the end, just feel tired.  I can breathe a lot better too, so I think it did not go to "pewmonia" level, thank God.  I've had that before, years ago.  They offered OT for Saturday, but I turned 'em down Shock  Need to rest up.

Tardis is ready - yay!

I think you guys coming over is a great idea.  I bet we could really knock out a bunch of layout in 2 days.  More than I can do by myself, that's for sure!

Whew. Forum does not like me tonight - or this version of javascript. Sorry, Sir James, it is Murphy's Law again. I got a claim number here but I'm sure the insurance co.'ll mess with this.

Good Evening

I hate plumbing. Thanks guys, my wife informed me we have a dripping faucet in the big bathroom. I think I will blame Doug M. for this one. Everything was going so well too. The old days we screwed in a new washer and it was done. Now we need a cartride kit to fix a drip, the water kind, nobody on here. Cold windy day at 23 degrees and big snow forcast for Sat. It was an indoor day for sure. I messed with trains some but no big deals today.

Banilla and rootbeer are waiting.  S.J.

Wes Whitmore

Thanks for the complements guys!

Does that mean we are invited over to the new digs?  We promise to take our empties with us when we go and speak in Northern accents so your new neighbors won't gossip about the "new people."

I don't know my stoves, but it has a country flame badge on it...It's close to this one.   Probably not the quality you are referring to, but still looks like a nice unit.  Price was a little shocking...this one isn't as nice anymore, or course.  It does come ready to light though...I questioned that.

88 - As to your wooden trestle, go for it.  Look at some of the old WESTERN MARYLAND bridges, especially in NW Baltimore County.  Even though my layout is set in the 70's, I settled on some steam era structures simply based upon astetics.

If you would get your carcass over here to take a look at progress we could have an engineering discussion about it!

Wes,
Place looks awesome. If I may make a suggestion... that insert is a Regency unit, one of the best on the market. IF you were to have it installed in your upstairs fireplace you could reduce your heating bills quite a bit. My parents put one in their fireplace about 5 years ago and they burn wood in it just about every day... result... 1/3 - 1/2 the old heating bill and that is with the recent rate hikes. We have a wood burning fireplace in our house and Susan and I are getting an insert put in as soon as we have the $$$ saved up, most likely this Fall. The brass trim on your unit can be polished to really shine.

If you are concerned about Jack you could easily build a 'play pen' to go around the insert so he wouldn't be able to get to the unit.

If you decide to get rid of it, let me know... I have access to a pickup truck and I'm sure we could work something out!

Edit
Upon further review - that is a free standing wood burning stove... no way to 'insert' it into a fireplace... Sad

Ok, so I knew I missed something important....Greg, hang in there, a job is like a relationship, if she says she wasn't right for you, yada, yada, yada, she is probably right.  You deserve better and you will get it.  Will continue praying for you.  As I have said before P.U.S.H. (pray until something happens).

Doug, hope things are not too bad on the repair front.  At least it is something you found before the whole thing came down into the room.

As I logged on tonight, I read a story that caught my attention on Yahoo.  Jon had spoken earlier about inner city kids, and this follows suit.  http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=914609  I think you will appreciate having read this story.

We are just finishing our last heart for the day...I hope.  Been real busy lately, so it makes the arrival of our new guy a lot more welcome.  Now, if we can just get him to a point that he can take call....I will be very happy.

God Bless,
Dennis

Daughter comes home from school. Wanders into the room in which I've been working all day "Dad, what are those big stains on the ceiling?" Water. Probably from the toilet incident of earlier in the week... so I call the insurance co. . .. (I have Homer Simpson's voice in my head saying 'That's gonna cost ya")

 Good afternoon,

Too much to read it all, but I did catch that Wes has bought a new house trainroom and that Don is thinking of leaving the land of pleasant living for more reasonable taxes.   Don, we have some very reasonable priced houses in this area, close to York, and with high speed internet to run your business.  Did I mention that it is close to York?  Congratulations to Wes and family.

Hope everyone is well.

Wes, congrats on the house.

Jim, been praying for both kids, one relationship and a job interview/healing.

Don, convince the boy to come out this way and the rest will fall into place.

Busy day today, hope to catch up on the pot later.

Dennis

Just in from watering the greenhouse.  Wet as it was 88 in there.  90 and fan comes on.   Not good for health when you are getting over the "pewmonia".  Need to order one for the boat house at the lake.  Will see what the price is.  May just use a good attic exhaust fan and fix and air intake closable in winter.  Now to go out and get up leaves.  Lucy and Burg were out for the whole time.  That means I can go in and out of gate without closing it.  OOps, PD car just turned around and floored it with siren.  Later

 After Noon All:

Just received a box with 5 Lionel NASCAR items won on ebay. Well packed and in excellent condition. All from one seller, My Favorite Spot in Denton TX. Five separate auctions, but they volunteered to ship in on box to save on shipping.

I did notice the box was shipped from Bockmann Industries with My Favorite Spot's name and address on it. Do you suppose it was a Drop Ship deal? Items look new.

I love Toy Trains show on RFD-TV today at 4:00 EST if they don't preempt it with a cattle auction.

I need to cut back on my visits to the Coffee Pot. Falling behind in train layout work. Hard to do though, I think it is addictive. Is there a train runners anonymous? Blush

I held off posting anything regarding the job interview I had on Tuesday morning (8:00 - 10:45 / five different people) until I heard from the company.  I don't need to wait any longer.  I received an email message and part of it quoted below.

"While your credentials were impressive, we have decided to pursue other candidates, which possess skills and experience that are more suitable for this position."

Oh well, nothing else much to report.

Good afternoon from sunny and cold (28°F) Southern Ohio

Man it was snowing like crazy on the way home, so stopped at the store and got some Sam A, then the ACE hardware for some repair parts then to bed.  A few hour nap and coffee, lots of it.  Bride has a painting project for me.  Like 100 little crosses to paint white.

Well it is official.  I may of just worked my last nightshift.  I will shadow the new supervisor next week on dayshift and if he does not go crazy, he will take over my shift and I will transitation to straight dayshift.  I have mixed feelings about the move.  I have a real good crew, but straight days will work better with my deacon ministry.

Wes- Try an add in the paper saying FREE you remove.  Many years I would have bit at something like that, or a Kurt says, a sledge, and a loud BOOOONG! And it is in pieces.  Nice place!

Chuck – good to hear from you

Laz – A man after my own heart, tear apart office equipment for salvage parts!

To all – Thanks for the continued prayers

May God bless

Jim

Mornin' All.

Wes, Sweet Digs Dude ! Thumbs Up  I would never make it as a decorater, I LIKE all the wood on those interior walls. I even like that old "wood burner" in the basement. Fire that puppy up, turn on the trains some good bluegrass music and a good rocking chair, what more could one want or need. Cowboy *

Well, the "intelegencia" in Sacramento have agreed on a budget. Gas taxes aren't going up but that's about the only one that isn't. AngryGrumpy But of course the "Sacred Cow" of no off-shore gas/oil drilling can't even be talked about, billions of $ just sitting. Disapprove

Buckeye, You do realize that the governor of Illinois lives in a really big house.

Edit_ Forgot a crucial point about fireplace, rocker, etc. Somebody for "refreshment and/or replenishment" runs !    Blush
