Hi guys,
This edition has grown very large very quickly so I'm locking it. Can someone please start a new edition and link back to this one?
Thanks, and have a great weekend,Erik
RockIsland52 Buckeye Riveter Powell, OHIO.....A very rich, snobby, affluent, politcal, gated community just east of Dublin, Ohio. Now everytime I visit Wes, I will need to wear a coat and tie.......... There are 2 Powell Ohios, but this certainly clarifies things. Thanks, Buckeye. I should have known. Wes is in the snobby one. Must start polishing my work boots, the ones with the holes the dog chewed in them, so I can quietly fit in. Do they shoot at cars with MA plates in Snohio? Hope Laz reads this stuff on Powell. I don't think they allow Ole Mils inside the city limits. Jack

Jack.....I want you and the rest of the gang to see a typical house in Powell, Ohio, so here is the url: http://www.realestatedublin.com/MyHomeDtl.asp?lstPages=1&HomeID=835322
Please notice that Wes will have enough room to park his cars. Now let's all sing, "Movin on up."

Afternoon all. Well, the 'water restoration' guys just left after being here all day. They took the drywall off the dining room ceiling, sealed the room and are running the worlds loudest dehumidifier. There's four more blowers and dehumidifiers upstairs where the bathroom and half of two bedrooms are stripped down too. The bride will love the dehumid drain tube snaking across half the house to her kitchen sink. And they're running this for the weekend. Well, it sure could be worse - mucho snow supposed to be here overnight - bllue skies and cold now. Basement looks like the best quietest part of the house... LOL

Buckeye asked -Has anyone seen my rare "I Love Ohio" boxcar lately?
I heard somewhere that Roseyville NC incinerated it, probably to destroy the evidence.

It's time for a cold one. I have been outside working all day. It was a beautiful day in Ohio. Temperature 20 degrees, windchill 5 degrees. Unfortunately, it didn't snow, but maybe it will tomorrow to make it a perfect weekend.
Has anyone seen my rare "I Love Ohio" boxcar lately?
GregM, it's about 5 minutes away...
I would love to have a vertical panel saw...
MAPQUEST shows Powell to be very close to Worthington area. Do I have the right place? If so, when wife and I move in with daughter and SIL (lets hope this doesn't happen) will be real close and could help with layout also.
BTW, looking for any tools for that "shop?" Might be able to help out there too.
Wes.....790 miles and 13 hours, plus the time delays at the secure border crossings entering Ohio. I wonder how many days I would have to stay over to adequately rest the horses, provided they COULD run at 60mph.
It's going to be after easter...or even July 4th. We won't be in the house until late May. I have to make the house presentable!
2 1/2 hrs away. Very do-able. After Easter would be best as my schedule is filling fast.
Jim
kpolak Wes: Great idea about the road trip! I'm a short 2-hours 54-minutes away!

Good Morning All:
We had a 5% CD mature yesterday, so need to go to town the first of the week to take out another. The problem is, the best rate now is 2.75% for a 10 months CD and at a different bank. What a bummer. Almost not worth the effort (almost). I wish I could find a good short term (less than 5 Yrs.) investment that payed better. Old lawn mowers maybe?
I thought about toy trains, but don't know enough about the market to predict a reasonable short term gain buying and selling. Any ideas?
Thanks
Have a good NASCAR weekend!
lionroar88 laz 57 HI GYZ, 17 and windy cold here in MILLERSBURG, PA. To get to 37? TRAIN SHOW IN ALLENTOWN, tomorrow. Bunch of us going tomorrow. Can't wait. BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!! Stay frosty, laz57 Wish I could make it up to Allentown tomorrow Laz! Have to stay back and get some mountain building done. I got the last section of edging put up last night and then I realized I have to recut one section due to a layout modification, and may have to remove the section I installed last night so I can bump out that edge as well. Will decide that tonight when I get back into the train room. The AC6000 clears the edge by about 1/8 inch, I would be OK, but I would feel comfortable with an additional 1/2 clearance... Although I may go a full inch to 1.5 inches (what I had to do on the other side).

BRENT,
My Lionel BB only clears my back wall by about a half inch. I'm ok with that more would be better. When I first ran it was at a crawl and holding my breath to see if it didn't hit anything. Allentown is always a good show.
Morning!
Sir James: I received my post card for the GV show...At least I think it's to me....It's my address, but the name is Guenevere and Garrett? LOL! I left a message on another post to meet up with TrainDaddy2, at the show. He has a table.
We are still using our Snapper push mower we received with our house! Purchase receipt says 1987, so I guess it's officially an antique! I still have the same blades, I sharpen twice a year (just beginning to show the wear notches in the ends) and change oil annually.

Good morning
Well faucet repair started as expected, screw holding knob was rusted. My trusty Dremel cut a slot in it and then got it out. Fixed faucet with used parts so don't know how long it will last, seems ok. I checked when I was finished and that was the only knob with a rusty screw. They now have a dab of grease on them.
Sunny this morning w/hi of 28. Dire predictions for tomorrow though, snow, lots of snow. Charlie is coming bye tonite to play with trains, since hes coming here, guess I will play too. Happy Friday...S.J.

cnw1995 Daughter comes home from school. Wanders into the room in which I've been working all day "Dad, what are those big stains on the ceiling?" Water. Probably from the toilet incident of earlier in the week... so I call the insurance co. . .. (I have Homer Simpson's voice in my head saying 'That's gonna cost ya")

DougM and SirJames......when my main sewer pipe in the basement got clogged a few months back, sewage was exiting the building very slowly. Plumber's final diagnosis......."something went down there that didn't belong".....he asked if there were kids or women using the toilets upstairs. Duh, you think?! Said his first guess was a small object got flushed like a small toy or a q-tip, second guess was a tampon that got wedged. Asked him if he wanted to share that tidbit with wifey, but he respectfully declined with a wry grin on his face.
Initially, when the offending toilet was backing up on the first floor, nothing I could do would clear the obstruction. Next morning when wifey took a shower on the second floor (toilet still clogged), the water level in the first floor toilet started rising and water seeped out from under the toilet base (not over the top) and onto the floor.
After the obstruction was cleared, I asked the plumber why the seal was leaking on the offending toilet and if it needed replacement. He said the seal wasn't leaking, was fine, and that the toilet was seated properly and snugly. Said the back pressure from the water not exiting the house was the culprit behind the seapage.
I thought the toilet seal does just that, seal every which way. I don't understand this stuff. When he finished his snaking in the basement, the toilet worked fine and the seapage had stopped, completely. I sincerely doubt the plumber, who was in no particular hurry that day, would have passed up the opportunity to replace the seal, just to be safe, since he would have gotten paid to do it anyway, and it's an easy and fast job.
Does what the plumber said make any sense?
I've got a 20 year old American Standard faucet (base, head, and hose) in the kitchen sink, and they sent out no charge replacement part when I developed a leak and dripping from the head that wouldn't go away. AS Customer Service said "We mean it when we say this is the last faucet you will ever need to buy." Didn't even have to pay for shipping. Another time, head became internally clogged from (inaccessible, and CLR didn't work) water deposits accumulating in the handle, resulting in low water pressure out of the nozzle head. AS replaced that one too, twice. The exact replacement they sent (and I installed) was correct, but after installation wifey decided she didn't want the cream colored one, she now wanted the chrome one. American Standard sent out another, n/c, and told me to keep the other new one as a backup.
I shoulda been a plumber. The bills I have gotten from them over the years indicate that they make more than rocket scientists.
Sturgeon-Phish Wes – When you get the new place, plan the layout, pick a time, buy the lumber, and a bunch of us show up with tools and we could get the bench work done in a day. From past experience, don’t bring out the food or beer till the work is done.
Jim, I would more than take you up on your offer! I will have a full shop in that 3rd car bay with most of the big tools that we are going to need (Its been a dream to find a 3 car garage for this purpose), so all you would have to do is show up and start building. We can use the back steps...I have a rough idea of what I want already. I'm sure it will change when you guys tell me my plan needs revamped...all kidding aside, it would be a great way to get together with the CTT crew.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 26 degrees. Going up to 32 today with no snow.
Today is a busy day. I have some things to do around the house. Later, I will relax in the train room. I need to do some dusting again.
It seems that gas prices have gone up again. Right now @ $1.89 a gallon. Food prices have gone up too. Wonder why? Coffee is at $8.12 a can. Milk at $3.23 a gallon.
Dining car was here and the usual breakfast was Cheerios.
Buckeye....TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.

Good Morning from beautiful sunny (25°F) Southern Ohio
Off today. Bride left a honey-do list, not too bad, laundry and clean-up. Bride wants a new faucet in the kitchen. The old one has actually gone through 3 or 4 rebuilds and it drips when you put the lever in the straight down position. Well it stops dripping if you put the lever at about 7 o’clock instead of straight down. I’ll price faucets; it may change her mind into accepting as is.

DougM - Toilet leakage can be nasty. Do you have swirled ceilings, drywall or plaster? Once dry, real dry, binz will seal it with several coats. Prime and let it set to see if it bleeds through before finishing. Most of the time I end up re-painting the whole ceiling when I used to do that work.
Chief – The old mowers are great! I just bought two years ago my second push mower after 31 years. First mower is at daughter’s place running. Patch plates all over it.
Buckeye – TGIF!! That will mean more now I am off shift work. Before all it meant was the front office was empty and fewer engineers around wanting more data or to tweak tests.
May God bless
Good Morning,
Getting a little cooler after warming up for almost two weeks, supposed to go down into the 50's overnight again. Still trying to get over my long lingering cold.
Like Chief I am trying to fix my riding lawn mower, rear tire and the battery need replacing.
Chief, you mentioned something about D___ Yankees, wasn't Ray Walston in that movie made in the 60's or 70's? It was a movie about an older baseball star.
Have to run to store this morning, need more OTC cold medicine.

Mormim' moyz. Oh, lemme take my scarf off. Mornin' boys. Sunny and a fridgid 23 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Four day weekend is HERE! Gonna look at some WV listings.
Chief - Wellll... Guess that's everything we ever needed to know about your lawn mower. Thanks.
dwiemer - Lemme know if you need another signature for TCA.
GregM - I can't imagine.....
dbaker - Did I understand you right? CA taxes you extra for leaving? FOLKS, do you feel a REVOLT coming? You SHOULD!
Good early morning from a colder deep South. Sky is clear/blue, but the dog's outside water bowl is frozen over....what's with that? At least it will be in the 60s this afternoon. Just watched DVRed episode of "I Love Toy Trains" on Lionel. Was more of a history of program. I would love to aquire a detailed Hudson, but since it wouldn't navigate my pike, it'd just be a show piece.
Allentown, wish I could make it, but it seems I will be making the Mother of all Train Shows in April I used to go to Allentown many moons ago in competition shooting. I told Fife once about competing in the police shoot. we would make it a yearly treck, but He told me they no longer do it.
I hope to get to some layout work this weekend. Since the nice folks in the carpentry shop at the hospital cut the Lexan for me, I have no excuses for not getting to work on the control panel....except the growing list of honey dos from SWMBO.
Hope everyone has a blessed weekend.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in 20s. Drive to work much easier and faster today. Got to play some indoor soccer again last night. After the others left, I did weights. I was talking to someone working out next to me saying I was tired, but I was soccer tired, and that was the best kind of tired. Really did not do much else last night. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast. The beacon is lit for the Tardis if Brutus feels up to getting it out. I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Edited the original post below so you would not be disappointed. I never say anything bad about the NY Yankees. Just you Jam Dankees. Colder this AM. Ready to go to all day meetings. Well, free breakfast and lunch. Guess I will hit the road to the lake house late this afternoon. All have a great day and even those in Ohizo.
