Hi GYZ,

Did a paint job on the ribbon around new layout and added clear acrylic plastic so trains won't fall off.  Also went for the customary FRIDAY EVE  WING and YUENGs, down at WAYNEs.

JACK, Snowblower is a 9.9 HP Briggs and Straton engine they say it 250 cc.  Handwarmers are in handle, just a coil and all to activation is just a switch.  I didn't use it for it was too warm at 28.

Stay Frosty,

What a beautiful day in Buckeyeland!

Had a great adventure today.  Road was blocked on the way home so I turned off to a side road that headed straight uphill.  Lo and behold there is a tiny little car spinning its wheels and can not get up the hill.  Next I passed a new Buick, again spinning its wheels and sliding backwards.  SUV can climb hills in the snow.  What a great day!

Train News....Trains Magazine has a great article about AMTRAK and how Congress tries to run it.

Glad to see that Chuck has power.  The ice in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky have brought down the power lines.   With global cooling on its way, you Sutherners better learn how to run a snowmobile.  Laugh

Gas is at $1.67 just down the street.

Did you hear about the Michigan basketball player giving the elbow to the Ohio State player last night?  Blue is in bad shape again.

Doug....I bet the voters and the media really look at your candidates for governor more throughly at the next election, which is a good thing.

Well, time for bed.  Spent a good bit of tonight playing "Lego Batman" with son while wife had daughter at ballet.  Also made some dinner and then wife wanted me to download a bunch of songs for the iPods.  You can share files, but it is tedious as you have to copy to disk, then upload from disk.

In a fair amount of pain tonight as my rib is hurting.  You can palpate the difference between sides.  Broken one sticks out about 1/2" from the rest.

Seems I won another auction tonight for a NYC pacemaker boxcar.  If I mention it to bride...."looks like a lot of the others you have".  Oh well, bet none of you have heard that one.  On Facebook, I have come across a number of folks I have not seen in well over 20 years.  These computers really make the world a lot smaller.

Have a Blessed night.

WELCOME TO RT'S BAKERY

Evening all hows it going. Got my Nascar Train set in this afternoon I still have the Jimmie Johnson boxcar coming and the Dale earnhardt jr Train set (after I pay for the jr it will come its on hold right now lol) But  that completes it as stated above.

Not to much happening feeling better this evening I was justa little stiff and sore this am so just took it easy today and soaked a couple of times. Feel fine now.

53 now was up to 58 today but dropping to 37 tonight not to bad I guess.

Wife already coming up with ways to use money from tax return's I agree acually its how much I over paid. when I was single I had it figured out about right to where I got back less than $5.00 each year from about 22 to 29 but then I got married and never really figured out how many I should claim durning the year to get close like that again.

Well will talk to you all later

RT, Your  stragedy on the income tax situation is 100% right on!  If you're getting a small refund, or paying a small amount, then you're doing it correctly. Good Job!!!

Doug, I  voted three times for the Chief, I'd be more than happy to do the same for you. No payoff in confederate money anymore though. I had a heck of a time getting Habbeb at the party store to take it.

Good night all.  Had a lazy day.  Now up tomorrow AM early to make an 8 AM meeting in another town.  Another pretty day is on for tomorrow.  Need to lime the pond.  See some mosy stuff forming around the edges.  OH, I'm sorry.  The Yanks can't see their pond edges due to the ICE.  I saw weather forecast for the next 7 days.  Looks like Ohizo may get some warming before being hit again.  Ioway will stay COLD.  We could have some snow flurries by Tuesday afternoon.  Guess I had better get my snow blower going. Whistling  OH, you do blow snow with a leaf blower, don't you? Laugh  Did get to scan my new Trains magazine tonight.  Had Southern fried chicken, collards and mashed potaotes with gravy for dinner.  Watched Criminal Minds while eating popcorn.

Off to bed. Zzz

 Good night Chief.

We had a beautiful, but cold day today.  It did melt some of the remaining ice even thought it stayed well below freezing all day.  The ice sliding off of the Museum high roof onto the library roof sounded like thunder.  Picked up some supplies at the LHS for the grandsons HO layout on the way home.

Running late, was talking on the phone with my Mom for an hour and a half.  Lots of family news and about friends.  Talked about this stimulus deal.  Everybody has been telling me they want to send us some kind of one-time check, but she said no it's a tax rate cut.  About then the news came on and said we might see like $10 or 25 per paycheck or something under this current plan?  Oh well - guess I won't be buying any trains with a big stimulus check this year.  I just can't keep up with all these changes, every day it's a different story, lol!

Tardis is ready and open to all, just turn on a beacon or the porch light Laugh  Banilla, cake and other goodies are usually on hand.  Train room on the 3rd floor, tv/home theater area on the 2nd floor, Don's Dance Dance Club on the 1st floor, but you have to know a guy Wink

Mornin' Folks.

For the "Super Sunday Grub" I usually try to fit a "munchies/food menu" around the teams playing. My first thought was Primanti Bros style sandwiches but wasn't sure about having to shampoo the entire house after the game. Clown Settling on a pot of chili with all the goodies so they can have chili  or nachos or chili dogs/burgers, maybe some Buffalo Shrimp and veggie appetizers then finish it off with pie & ice cream. Dinner

DougDG......based on the amount of "natural" gas that will be generated with that menu, you had better not allow cigar smoking in the house during the game.  That menu would be right up my alley.  Yummy!

BRUTUS,

I'm with you those rotten teachersWinkShock!  They are never happy.  Always complaining.

laz57

You can say that again LAZ.

Chilly here this AM about 20 may go to mid 30's.  Hopefully some ice/snow will melt.  Supposed to warm up by Monday to the 40's and then another rain/snow event Monday night into Tuesday.  Way to early for the "guess-casters" to be close, the "guess-cast" could change 10 times between now and Monday.

Heading to our annual Super Bowl gathering on Sunday. Lots of good food and good friends.

Got to get going.  No delay today, starting on time, won't know how to act.  Going back to Dr today for check-up on asthma symptoms. Seemed a bit better last night, can now breathe more deeply without feeling tightness. Haven't used the inhaler since dinner time last night.  Good sign,  I hope...

Take care,

Mitch

Different strokes for different folks, as they say. I always figured if you payed a little tax or got back a little tax you were letting the Gov't use a lot of your money the rest of the year (interest free loan).

RT - you have great taste in rolling stock (NASCAR). Only a couple weeks before the fun begins! I predict the M&M boy will lead the chart by week two.

Today's ANIMALS AND THE RAILS

The Santa Fe once had two black sheep what lived at the loading pens where white sheep were herded into stock cars. The black sheep learned to lead the white ones into a car and then hop out, just before the doors slammed shut. Because they were black there was no danger they would get mixed up with the others and sent to market by mistake. After each loading job, the trainmen rewarded their helpers with there favorite treat - a chunk of chewing tobacco.

Morning all.  Just checking in.  Looks like some more cold temps up north.  Hope it stays up that way.  Not that I wish bad thing on y'all, just don't want it here.  Brutus, they can keep my $25.  If that is supposed to be a stimulus, it ain't much.  Actually, if this "stimulus" actually worked, they would do it all the time.  More likely, just more wealth distribution.  The money in the bank is now worth about 30% LESS than it was a year ago.

Oh well, May God Bless each of you,

dennis

HI GYZ,

A little snow shower this morning at a nice 27 degrees.  To get colder tomorrow and then bracing for another snow event on Tuesday?

Going down to BARRYs today to check out what came in?  I also won a set of BN bathtub gondolas form him off ebay, so I'll pick them up too.

Stay FROSTY,

Good morning all,

It is cold in SE Indiana again.  Roads were clear and I did not have to drive so it is a good day so far.  More "stuff" got dumped on me at work.  I will never catch up at this rate.  Grrrr!   I just did wieghts and juggling at the YMCA last night.  I was talking to one of the employees who heard it was going to close early Wednesday night on the TV as they did not even bother to call her.  Nice!  Wife and I watched some "Antiques Roadshow" and they had a Beggs live steamer from the 1800s on the show.  The set was estimated to be $5,000 to $7,000.  Read some of the new Trains magazine as well.  Should be a quiet weekend for once.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all. Cold! But sunny. Think I'm getting a cold. Still no call about the governor's job. Buckeye, the former incumbent was shredded in the media in the last election but it didn't matter to the electorate - his opponent unfortunately shared the same last name as the previous governor - who of course had also been indicted and jailed. Sigh. Fortunately, there are only 16 days, 3 hours and 34 minutes until White Sox pitchers and catchers have to report... I screwed up wiring again somehow some little blocks for the engine house. Will try again this weekend.  I like the slogan - trolleys for everyone!

Morning, Eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast, I'm full. Nothing new weather wise, same ole thing. I didn't know saying I filed my taxes would start a debate on how I should handle my affairs but I will read on. Thats what a forum is for.

Question?- Will all these households serving superbowl food have to report to the goverment how much natural gas was  allowed to escape into  the air like the pig farmers do? Talk about people with nothing to do, doesn't make the hot coffee on the lap list but just about as stupid. Its friday, enjoy.....S.J.

We're running the fireplace, so it should be calculated as a negative value, as it increases combustion.  Funnny, if you're not 'one of the boys' over there you get roasted.  Just saw a recent post.

Evening all

It has been a busy day.  I have been putting the finishing touches on Sunday's homily, and we to church and cleared sidwalks for about three hours.

Our youngest daughter was laid off this morning.  She works in human resources for a smallish firm.  The company has lost a few contracts but our daughter was caught off guard just the same.  Her boss was crying as he laid her off.  I tried to encourage her but she is taking it rough.  She had really invested herself into being a good employee.  She is tough, and resourceful, so she will come through it, in time.

Received some more metal men for the layout.  They are not as realistic as Astrocraft, but they are really neat I think.  I hope to get some pictures for SPF, maybe people with Kurt's boxcar?

Got to go.  May God bless

Jim

Unpacked my PWC GG1 for the 3rd time today, took the body off and oiled everywhere the instuctions said to put oil. Ran it for about five minutes forward and then reverse. Took off my CCII NYC Empire State Express Hudson and the poor GG1 couldn't move the train at all!!! It finally moved when I got down to four 21" passenger cars. It is a beautiful locomotive, the paint job and striping appear to be flawless. Did any of you who bought the set notice the list of features in the instruction manual. There is a little strip of white paper tape covering "directional lighting". I'm wondering if I can jury rig the lights like I did my GP-7 back in the late 50's bu runnning the wire from the bulb to the appropriate motor brush so that the light in the trailing direction still lights but is dimmer than the forward light. I may wait until the warranty expires before I try that. As Rich reported, temperature in the high 20's tonight, low 30's tomorrow night, a slight warm up and then freezing temperaturse at might again in the middle of the week. At least we don't have snow and ice!

Evening All -

Jim, sorry to hear about your daughter's job, but unfortunately she's in a lot of good company.  Hopefully,it wont be too long before the situation improves.

Had a big day today.  Landed a huge order for the upcoming Oscar's performance.  Hopefully will be able to get all the items rounded up next week!

Then got a great offer from my fil tonight.  He offered me his table saw, bench belt sander, jig saw, band saw and a wood turret lathe.  Now the biggest problem is of course, where do I put it????  Sure wish we had a basement!  So think I will check out these portable storage sheds, I have the perfect place in the backyard for one, I think I can put in a 6x8 structure with no problem.  Of course would bring the unit outside to use it, but it would be real convient for the train room also.  Maybe, just maybe may end up with one this weekend.

Doug, I couldn't believe how much similiarity there with Thomas and friends.  I would swear I could see Donald and Douglas, the Terrible Trucks, and a couple other characters in the video.  I actually thought it was one of the better ones I've seen, and learned quite a bit as well.

Can't believe all the news reports, that lady that had the 8 kids is really close by.  The hospital is only about 5 miles from here, and her town is probably 15.  I'm sure that is going to be a real messy story before its all over.  The hospital is Kaiser, and she wasn't a member or anything, and just appeared at  their door and couldn't be refused.

Then found out the legislature's new tax bills that are being "negotiated" will represent a $1,400 annual tax increase for taxpayers!  Can't believe they're raising taxes when the feds are trying to create stimulis packages.  Anyone for a shell game???

Looking forward to a quiet weekend at home.  Hope everyone's favorite team wins on Sunday.  Later.

Thanks for the kind words for my daughter.  So many people are out of work, I pray for all who are struggling.

Don- Great news on the tools!  The shed idea would work.  Before I had my garage I had my Shopsmith in a 10 x 10 shed and ran an extension cord out to it.

Got some pics for SPF, homily done and preping for a furneral Saturday morning.

Good night and God bless

Jim
