Jim, prayers for your daughter, hope she finds a new job soon!

Don - excellent deal!  One of my woodworking magazines had an article about a guy who built a really cool workshop in one of those sheds, had all the tools too, but everything was modified or rolled out for use in the area in front of the shed etc.  This was a couple years ago, so that magazine is probably long gone, but if I find it I'll scan the article and email it.  Wow, that is really a bad idea.  Raising taxes in the middle of a recession - yikes!  Also - Great deal on the Oscars!

Doug - sorry about your son, hope Rockstar gets through this with just a little therapy or something!

Dennis - I think they mean that to be like $1000 total reduction in your taxes for the year, assuming my Mom is right and it's not a one time check.  But, local news did report last night that you could expect to see like $15 to $25 per paycheck.  Hey, they are trying to keep illegals from getting access to these dollars too.  They didn't want to give us a big check because then some would just put it in savings or pay off credit cards, so I guess with a series of small payments that people will just spend it as they go.  Will they do this again next year, too?

Hmmmm, a little bird told me that a big Nascar Collector is going to have a birthday on Sunday?  Wonder what he'll get for his Birthday?  Maybe he'll bake a Nascar Cake too?  Laugh

Whoops - hit enter!  Okay, Tardis is on the way, so turn on the porch lights or a beacon Wink

Chief needs to give us his nightly blessing, the bedbugs must be running rampant by now!

HI GYZ,

10 here this morning and still crunchy sno-hi-o.  Suppose to get walloped with big sno=hi-o on Mondat into tuesday?  Stay tuned?

JIM, sorry for your daughters loss of job.  Something will open up.

BRUTUS, I thought I heard the TARDIS last nite but was running trains and the roar of the rails I couldn't tell.

Went down to BARRYs last nite to pick up my BN bathtub gondolas I had won from him and then scored a NYC diecast caboose, breakup from set, for 65 bucks and a MTH Rolling Rock operating car for 62 bucks.  The Rolling Rock car is cool.  The door opens, lite comes on , smoke starts to spew out like frostiness when cold hits warm.  Then the guy swings out and unloads a case o beer, pretty neat.

Oh ran trains last nite for 2hrs. NO PILE UPs.

Stay FROSTY,

Morning all.  Had Great Niece's 3rd birthday party lasyt night at MIL's.  Then came home and hit the bed.  Have had sinus headache all week.  Up early this AM to give wife a break from early rising.  Cooked her breakfast after "tending" to the kids [Burg and Lucy].  Watched the Return of Frank James on AMC.  One good quote in there by the newspaper editor and his lawyer.  "You Yankee skum." Whistling  Got down to the mid 20's last night.  Sunny and in the low 40's today.  Windy and 60 tomorrow.  Might get some flurries by Monday night.  No one answered my earlier question.  You do use your leaf blower as a snow blower don't you? ConfusedLaugh  Will drop by Miss Edna's while going to Wendell to get lime.  Mossy mess is growing in the shallows of the pond.  May spread some around the edges.  Then stack it up for dumping bags in the pond by boat later on a warmer day.  Hope to go to the lake house for tonight and tomorrow.

Jim, I think daughter can take pride her knowing she will get a excellent reference from her former boss.

Well, according to Doug M, it is RT's birthday [post yesterday].  Happy B-Day

Later.

PS: fifey, did I luck out.  Will be in LA [not the city but the state] Feb 13 thru 15.

Good Morning from sunny Southern Ohio

Very beautiful outside, cold but beautiful.  Going to be a busy day so it will be evening before I can post again.

Fife - Thanks for the Valentines heads up

Don - Jim F's post reminded me of something I've done for my stationary tools.  I made a plstform that looks like furniture dolleys for each tool.  I got the ones with the lockable wheels on one end to hold it in place when moved.

Thanks again all for your comments for my daughter.  I will tell her of your compassion for her situation

May God bless

Jim

Happy B-Day Happy Birthday RTHappy B-Day

Jim - Sorry to hear about your daughter's job loss. Hope things will pick up soon but the news seems to get worse and worse everyday. Local department store BonTon announced layoff of about 1100 folks yesterday.

Busy day today. Had scrapple and eggs for breakfast.  BIL, SIL and two tweens are coming for lunch today. They are snow tubing at a nearby ski area this AM.  Have lots today before they arrive around 12:00.  Better get my act in gear.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning

Ten degrees this morning, overcast and going to the middle twentys. No big plans for today except some trains to run later. There were no pileups last nite so I'm good to go. My wife will watch her Red Wings this afternoon so maybe I will just play golf w/PS2. Menu for today,  roasted potatoes and chicken with Open Pit on top.

Have a safe day....S.J.

In the court scene, they sure sat the justice system behind a number of years. Talk about bias, even though it was a movie.  Was comical the reference to "THE REVOLUTION" that was begun in 1861.

Have to admit did enjoy the movie!  Sure could see how a number of "early" tv shows could have been born or conceived from that movie.

Morning all. Sunny and hopefully will be 30s today - woo hoo! Officially coldest Jan. in 25 years. Happy day-before-your-Birthday, RT- you're right, I calculated it 'til 1201 am tonight or rather Sun. morning. Happy B-Day  anyway! Back from church where I held my small group mtg. Then back at noon for a big video team brainstorming session. I'm tired. Daughter had friends over late and middle boy still wanted to go to wrestling meet - with a 5 am bus pick-up! So I got up, got ready, got him - and he decided his knee hurt too much to go - or rather he wanted to sleep.  LOL. Ah teens! Hope to get time to try to wire a few blocks again too.  Don, I swear I saw a  loco named Gordon! What a great video. I can't get over how 'sloppy' the latter-day steam looked in the more rural collieries. Steam leaking everywhere, the engine rolling on terrible track - but everything still worked.

Jim, sorry to hear about your daughter losing her job.  It is unfortunately very common these days.  I get email messages every day from Indeed.com with new jobs that have certain key words in the description.  Here is a link to Human Resources jobs in Ohio as a starting point.

Chief ... I had stuffed sinuses and sinus headaches out the bazoo until I got a room steam humidifier and ran it in my bedroom ... WALLA .... not saying it will cure you but it helped me alot . You can even put a few drops of menthol/vicks type vapor juice in her . That dry heat in the winter is horrible on one's sinuses . Try one from walmart ... if it does'nt help ... take her back ! I even put it in my train/computer room at times . They're small but great . It's that pressure caused by packed sinuses .... it'll keep them open and moist .

 Good Morning Y'll:

Up early to hay the cows and seed the birds before breakfast.

Watched an interesting show on the history of traction on the weekly  Sat. Morning "Trains & Locomotives" on RFD-TV. I didn't know traction motors pulled freight cars through the middle of large cities in Ohio in the 1930's. Showed a traction car and plane race in the 1920's - traction won. Also a traction car and race car race - traction won that too at 90 MPH. Also showed a series of traction car wrecks that spelled the beginning of the end for the CL&E Traction Co. in Cincinnati in the 1940's.

Going to do some scenery building and train running this after noom, probably more running than building.

#@*&!?+*%@##!!  The cat just ran across the keyboard. Grumpy

Going to do a fifey tonight and grill some steaks outside. First grilled steak since mid-Nov. (Mouth Watering Smiley Face Here).

Happy B-Day  to RT and all NASCAR followers!

Until later.

RT, perhaps a little premature, but still hope you have a Happy Birthday!  Also hope you are feeling better as I recall your back was hurting?

Brutus, yeah, they say we are getting a tax cut, but I doubt it will come my way.  Besides, they are talking big tax increases elsewhere....like Ammo, guns, etc.  If they don't like them, they will make you pay more for them.  Besides, he can't pay for half the promises made during the campaign.

Well, wife is taking a nap...she will be working her first night shift that she has ever done.  The hospital has come up with some new protocols and all employees have to work at least 24 hours a month.  She has been called off for low census a few times, and nights were the only way she could be guaranteed her hours.

I have to take the kids to a birthday party today at 4.  Nice idea, instead of buying the kid a gift, everyone is supposed to bring $10 for a fund for a sick child.  Besides, if their kid is like ours, they have too many toys as it is.

Looks like I won another car at auction.  A NYC pacemaker car is coming our way.  Also took delivery of another item last night.....a book called "Scenes Along The Rails" on the DL&W RR.  great book for someone planning a hirail layout as it has lots of images from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Gotta run and get kids ready.  May God Bless.

Afternoon All.

Boy was it ever dead at the museum yesterday, with this weather they must have decided to go to the beach instead. Blush Whistling

I'm in the same boat with the sinus crud, with this crazy weather swings hot/cold/damp/tinder dry. It feels like the head is about to explode, heaven forbid you have to pick something up off the floor. Dead It has even created some issues with the lift bridge on the club layout, track alignment on both a vertical and horizontal plane.

Evening all.  Tired and sore.  Shoveled 200 lbs of lime from wheelbarrow to edge of pond.  Wheeled through the woods.  Now I have 220 lbs to put out by boat.  Then shoveled 6 wheelbarrow loads of sand from the edge of the hill and filled mud holes.  As I finished two big holes, guy who uses my shooting range to qualify his carry conceal students walked up.  OH, I'll bring you a load or two of crush and run for all these holes.  So I quit that project.  Then shoveled a nice load into pickup and brought home for a path wifey wanted.  It is actually decomposed rock.  It just crumbles into a coarse sand.  Stabalizes real well.  Then watered the greenhouse.  Now for some Southern Fried Chicken and collards.  Did drop by Miss Edna's for an hour after getting the load of lime.   Putting on "comfoy" [Pam's word] clothes and slippers.  TV time too.

Evening all

Been real busy with a furneral this morning , more walk cleaning the services tonight.  Bride made a wonderful supper and I am looking forward to a low key evening.

RT - Happy birthday

All with sinus issues - Our daughter reccomended to my bride who has been fighting a sinus bug since fall, with this thing called a neti - pot by NeilMed.  It is a sinus wash and it really works for cleaning up infected sinus'.  They are ~ $15 at Rite Aid, CVS Walgreens and the like.

Take care and may God bless

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 30.  I went to the YMCA last night and early this morning.  Lucas surprised us by coming home, and the one grandson is here tonight for a while.  Ran the Alaska set for him a few times.  He loves blowing the horn.  Dug out some old Shining Time Station tapes.  15 years old.  Still play.  Trying to fight a cold.  The "saucy wench" had pancakes and sausage for breakfast on the dining car this morning.  Brutus, the beacon is lit.  Listening to some Olivia Smiley on the CD player.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

To all on this thread:

I have come to the conclusion that this thread is a "click" of half a dozen people, and anyone outside the "click" is completely ignored. I haven't had a comment, positive or negative, over the last 10 posts. Sorry I invaded your territory. I particularly seem to have offended the "Chief", leader of this group.  Perhaps you should state you are not interested in outsiders contributing to your coffee pot forum. Or perhaps you should define the "Rules" for participating in your thread. No comments from Chief, fife, RT, or any of the rest of the regulars on my Animals on the Rails, "Trains and Locomotives" on RFD-TV, NASCAR, Etc.

The one thing I am appreciative of is the help from RT and others on finding unpainted rolling stock.

I need to find a more friendly forum thread. I expect you all will be happy to here this.

Patrick sorry you feel that way as no one in here means to be that way to anybody especially chief you have to get to know the chief as he really is a great guy.

We all appreciate all comments in here at times we get caught up in our own little world but do not mean to come off that way and I personally hope you stay around. I'm sure the rest do to including the chief.

A lot of it may be as you call our own little click but we don't mean it that way after a while you will to be part if you stick around. I felt like you do at first and bunch of us have in fact after a while you'll see I'm still learning do and don't with who in here. you see I started out in model railroad forum but that basically is HO and n scale.

Now let me buy you a cup of coffee and we all can talk and I'll even put it on the chiefs bill if you want as hes a mayor so he can write it off Big Smile

I appreciate you signaling me out about the boxcars but theres a lot of great folks here please sit back relax and let things come around they will. keep making comments and they will start commenting back another thing also and I'm very guilty of this a lot of time I'll read about 1 out 4 post and then I'll catch something that will get my attention and I have to go back and see what it was all about so I miss a lot in here and thats why I don't respond to everything. I also seem to try to make a joke out of most things like my comment to fife today for double posting I was skipping over when I caught his double post .

Good Evening

Patrick everyone welcomed you and many "regulars" do not get replys on a everyday bases, and me, to some of these guys I'm a  newbie , but I still enjoy the company. And they are there when you are down.

Cold today again but no snow, above 32 tomorrow but a one day event. Ran some trains today and couched.

Hey Patrick, sorry you don't feel appreciated because I have enjoyed reading your posts!  I think a lot of the time we all just read each other's posts and then a few of us have got in the habit of "waving" at each other with Tardis rides, banilla, popcorn/recliner jokes/or "feuds" over N vs S etc.  Just hang in here man!  Also, you know on the weekends if the weather is good a lot of guys just pop on long enough to update the pot with their current status, do a quick read and get back to other stuff.

I hope you hang around!  Why don't you PM me, okay?
