S.J. You would not believe the stringline derailment today, I had 16 tankcars going around one of the wide curves and the rear P/U roller on the caboose got hung-up in a switch. Wasn't quite fast enuff to hit the kill button, kinda funny looking at all them tanks still connected just rolled over on their sides with just the loco & caboose upright.

Thats pretty much what happened here,except it was boxcars and the middle of the train. I have no idea how it happened as I was not watching at the time.Engine was still trying to pull it though.

Doug, it didn't happen to be a CSX train, did it? Just kidding. have a train show in the morning. Bride and I will go while the kids are at the Chinese lessons. Of course, that does only give me two hours, but it is a small show and that should work out.

Sure am glad its Friday! Have tomorrow off, 1st day in 2 weeks. Then a 1/2 day Sunday. Working a lot of hours, but not making anything, not complaining just tired. Sure would like to think can retire someday, but not sure. Heard on radio this morning that home values are down 38% from last year!! Man, that's really gotta be tough on some people here! I doubt we have even began to see the foreclosure volume. Imagine someone buying a house here since say 2002 for around 500 to 700k, then having payments around 2 or 3k per month. Then after 4 or 5 years find out your house is worth a couple 100 thousand LESS than when you bought. And you still have those payments! Then end up being layed off. I'm really concerned about a lot of dark days ahead for a lot people. Sure hope I'm wrong.
Need to go out and play in the train room for awhile I'm having to depressing of a conversation. BTW stopped in a drug store to find the Glue Dots, will have to try more tomorrow. Great job Buckeye,

Good night all. Reclinerized while Pam couchrized. She is still asleep and does not want to get up. Will cover her up and leave her. Lucy in her little pink bed on the floor. Burg just streached out on the floor. His bed is in the corner of our bedroom. He will move there when I go to bed. Made a quick meal tonight. Pam and I both got involved. She dumped in leftover hot dog chilli, Campbell's chilli with beans, Campbell's baked beans and I finely chopped hotdogs into the mix. Makes a good meal to stick to your ribs. NOW WARNING, will help power any natural gas appliance. It reached 59 degrees this afternoon. Cold front on the way. Suppose drop temps but not below frerezing. Was pleased to hear that it was a balmy 5 degrees in Ioway. Don't stick your tongue on the flag pole there. No popcorn nor ice cream tonight. Too full. [did have popcorn at Town Hall for lunch. do keep a supply of Pop Secret Homestyle there] Good night.
BTW:lure value dropped as it did not have a special paint drop on the left side.

Big nite here in MILLERSBURG, PA. At about 815 this evening just outside my house, a big wreck. I live on a rural route and a one car accident happened. No one hurt but the driver hit my neighbors brick mailbox went up my bank and ended facing the wrong direction on his roof. I was down playing trains and wife came down and told me. Got there at the scene and driver was already out, I checked to see if anyone else was in and no one was, thank GOD. Was an older SUV but now its scrap. I had to direct traffic til the FD got there. Kinda exciting here tonite. After FD came went back in and ran trains NO PILE UPs.
BRUTUS, yep I'll go see MIKE C. too, pick me up I need a beer.

Expect possible higher prices at your LHS. Lionel has instituted a distributorship distribution system. Only 15 hobby shops continue to qualify as direct accounts. Since there is now an additional "mouth to feed" in the supply chain expect any additional cost to be passed on to the consumer.

It was so cold . . .we had to carry around hammers and chisels so we could get out of our parkas!
It was so cold...kids stopped worrying about acne. The new problem - goosepimples!
It was so cold . . .when we milked the cows, we got ice cream! When we milked the brown cows - we got chocolate ice cream!
It was so cold . . .words froze in the air. If you wanted to hear what someone said, you had to grab a handful of sentences and take them in by the fire!
It was so cold . . .the dogs had to put jumper cables on the rabbits - just to get them running!
It was so cold . . .we pulled everything out of the freezer and huddled inside it to warm up!
It was so cold . . .the Husky Association was making emergency service calls to get the dog teams started!

PS. I have edited this thing four times to get it spaced correctly and readable and if it still doesn't look right, blame the software running the forums. sir james I I had a R.R. accident tonite, was letting a train run while I worked on another and I ended up with a 20 boxcar derailment. No damage all is well. Oh I don't know what caused it, put it all back together and off it went. It got above freezing today but no sun to melt the snow so it might be here till april, who knows. Waiting for Brutus, banilla is ready....S.J.

Preliminary reports, and an eye witness account have identified an obstruction blocking the tracks. A plasticvillian bystander seems to recall a recent incident involving a passenger train that included the pantograph breaking loose from the train. All but one insulator was recovered from the scene. One of the engineers involved was heard saying, 'Don't worry it'll turn up...
Mixed emotions regarding the tank cars that spilled Banilla 'All over Plasticville'. The younger citizens were seen scooping the spill up by the handfulls. Mayor was heard commenting that the spill was somewhat contained due to the low temperatures, and "could have been a real mess if that stuff was warm, and in a liquid state".

Well checked out the damage in the day lite chuncks of mailbox all over lawn. Some flew about 50 feet. Yes CHIEF, guy was going tooooo fast. Don't know if he was drunk or not, they took him to Harrisburg to check him out? Anyway getting colder and windy here. Going down to 12 tonite.
FIFE, used the elbow slash. Had to direct traffic down side road. Didn't interfere, with beer drinking later while running trains.

It is a snowy 26 degrees. Was 30, and has dropped. Going down to 22 today with snow showers. Winter is still here.
Today is busy. I have a bunch of paperwork to do and then some chores around the house. Getting around better. I'd love to go outside and sit in the shade. Needs to warm up a little. Running trains later.
Dining car was here and breakfast was served.

laz - In reflection of your recent heroics, now may be a good time to check our Emergency Preparedness Kits. It should now include a bright yellow hardhat with the twin 12oz dispensers. Some of those rural PDs and FDs can take a while to respond to the scene. Then after some refills, laz can break into YMCA during the down times.

Good morning . Was almost warm yesterday and the snow melted, today it is cold and there was some flurries blowing around.
Morning all. Very cold but sunny and still - no wind out of Iowa. Did I mention a few weeks ago, there was a kid in the city who licked a flagpole with the expected results? Glad that driver wasn't killed, Laz. Sounds like you need more cup-holders. Started building a plasticville coal elevator late last night. Not a good idea as I was just eye-balling it and forgot a part or two. Something fun to fool with later on. After chores, looks like a nice hobby day.

Funny CSX was mentioned about the accident as it was a CSX K-line by Lionel club engine pulling that train.
Wife is upstairs cleaning something, everyday since son-in-law was laid off and not babysitting. Unemployeement in Mich. for Dec 9.6 percent. State is behind in processing claims,some have not received checks in two months so they say. I don't know for sure thats from the news.

SJ, sorry for the Son-in-law's job loss. That is why we need to get this "simulous" thing going and stop bickering over the politics. People are hurting and the fat cats are arguing. None of them are doing without a pay check and all have big bank accounts.
SIL got laid off first week in Dec. said come back Jan.12, called him after christmas, said still no work, don't call us we will call you. His shop is still open but no orders from the auto companys to work on.
Dennis said -You are correct on my vote, but I thought that they would have gotten through the first week without trying to stick one to us......Oh well.
And to think we only have 207 (maybe 415) week to go!

Fife, wella, I, I, I just don't know how to follow that one up! I want a village for my layout, but figured I'd use artista for my village, not the Village People!
Raining on and off here today. Not the best weather as we are having the annual Quail Unlimited Celebrity Quail Hunt. Lots of big names and big pockets in town. Also have the train show. Bride and I went while kids were at Chinese lessons. I got several nice pieces of rolling stock, including a crane that had a store sticker from Memory Station. I also picked up some figures for the layout and while I was doing that, the wife picked out a NIB K-Line US Army set. I married well....
We have to bring the kids to a celebration at the local library for Chinese New Year. Tonight, we have visitors coming over to celebrate as well. Poor wife is busy getting things straightened out while I sit here...better go help.
