Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Sunny & 18 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. First weekend without football game in "years" seems like. I realized I got married, have 4 kids living with me, a dog, a layout....
Spman - Do you still use slide film? I still do. Getting harder to get processed.
Morning all. Grey today and just about zero. Amazing the difference no sun makes. Off to church just myself and the youngest. Then back again in the afternoon. Maybe I'll get to read the paper. Last evening, I troubleshot the MTH 151 Semaphore - maybe something's loose in it and I have to take it apart - it works intermittently - maybe it needs more consistent power....

HI GYZ,
10 this morning in MILLERSBURG, Pa. They say a storm is on the way, maybe Wednesday? We'll see? Ran trains last nite, all ran good. Finally got my Big Boy back on the tracks. I haven't run it since last spring, all I gotta say is wow! It ran GREAT! And the sound is just wow.
Going to do a little mor work on layout.
Question for YUZ GYZ? I have a 0-42 switch just before my rotary tipple, about 16 inches. Will going at a slow speed and dumping coal with the tipple have any effect on that switch? I hear a hum when the cars go over it and especially if there is a lit caboose on top of it waiting it turn to go through the tipple? I am curious and don't want the switch burning out?
Stay FROSTY,
laz57
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 10 degrees. Going up to 25 today with some snow flurries. I sure will be glad to see Spring come.
Today is an easy day. I plan on running trains, later this afternoon. Not much else new here.
SPF...Great pictures, Guys.
Dining car was here and then headed to " Points West". Breakfast was as usual.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
I JUST DON'T HATE .... I DESPISE WINTER .... Come on summer !
Good Morning,Laz that humming sound you hear is the switch coil. The car trucks are sitting on the short piece of track that throws the switch if it's turned the wrong way. Low track voltage may not burn it out but they are not designed for a constant voltage, just the short jolt as the wheels run over that short rail. Don't let the cars sit on it too long.
Overcast and 5 when I got up, 9 now. What is this, about the fifth week of January with one more to go. >>TTFN...S.J.

Ran the boxcab last night, a typical northeastern consist....runs really well.
I'll check back tonight..stay warm. I'd trade this weather for a nice basement!!!

Thank You, SIR JAMES. I figured that was the cause but didn't think anything of it. I think I'll look to move this switch because I have to unload 6 hoopers and seems to be a bit too much for the switch. Thanks again,
Rich, Dreamweaver is pretty intuitive; I've worked with it for years. Off to a kid's birthday party I forgot about - then back to church.
Not feeling good today, guess I'm fighting off a bug. Just taking it easy and watching tv with the family.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Fife, I still have a SLR conventional camera for use with slide film but I have'nt used it in several years. I do have a fair size slide collection, however, of trains I have photographed on the West Coast from the 60's through the 80's. I have an old Kodak carousel slide projector I thought I could use the trays with. I have a few of them already but have been using a stack loader to look at most of the slides recently. I don't have a digital camera yet but would like to get one for posting layout pictures on the internet.

BRUTUS, hope you are feeling better? Rock and RYE works for me or just a bunch of OL MILLs.
Changed switch today all seems better.
Gotta go run trains,
Back from lake house. No frozen precip as REB air is too dry. I hear Ohizo and maybe PA are in for some winter fun. Now to watch a new Halmark movie on CBS and eat fresh baked yellow cake with chocolate icing.
Good Evening
Another winter day. Bright sun but at 15 degrees no snow melt at all.
I must have caught something from Brutus, But not sick just not great. So I couched today. No trains.
Laz good that you moved the switch, usually when you smell the plastic cover burning the coil is gone too.
Well guys get ready for Monday, Banilla is waiting..S.J.
Hi GYZ,
Well ran trains for 1.5 hrs. NO PILE UPs!!! YEA for the Millersburg Yards.
SIR JAMES, yep moved the switch and all worked out great. Had to use 0-42, 0-54,0-27 curves to make the transition. All a ok, No problems with any switches now. I asked question to be on safe side, and thanks for answering.
CHIEF, hope you are right with forcast? Want to go crosscountry skiing. Me and wife have ski's and can't seem to use them. Told wife we might have to go up to Pulaski NY on the TUG HILL PLATEAU and see how much snow they have?
Stay Frosty GYZ,
Cross Country Skiing is quite the workout, Laz. Feel better, Brutus! Just watching some worthless TV with the bride until the teens return from church. My middle boy managed to cadge money individually from the both of us to go out afterwards. I guess he thinks we don't talk to each other - boy, will he be surprised when he comes home. LOL.
BrutusI hope we all can continue to uplift each other for years to come
I'm with you Brutus...

Feeling some better - no Rock & Rye in the house! I'll have to get my wife to stock up next time I'm under the weather. Just doing some laundry and watching Executive Decision on dvd. We haven't watched this one in a long time. Good movie. Terrorists turn a plane into a weapon - made in 1996. Luckily, Kurt Russell was onboard this one to save Hally Berry. Still need to check out the sunday photos! Tardis is ready, but you guys will have to pick someone to drive it, I'm just gonna sit in the jacuzzi tonight and see if SJ will make me one of those rootbeer floats with the sprinkles on top of the whipped cream!
Hello Chief Eagles. Someone told me you may be able to help me out from another forum thread. I have a Lionel Mikado Jr. I had been running it in conventional with 2 full wave recitifers in series with a motor lead. It smoked nice at higher speeds and so so at medium speeds, hardly anything at slow speeds. I recently put in another making a total of 3 modified recitifiers. Now it smokes nice at lower speeds and really smokes at higher speeds. Do you think this is too many rectifiers? I don't want to damage anything. I actually tried 4 and the outside of the smoke unit was hot enough to sizzle when I spit a tiny bit on it! Mayber you or someone else have done this and know what a usual amount to use is. I also put in pink insulation and use JT's. I think the JT's burns up too fast, seems I'm always adding. Thanks for any help!
DOUG, yes it is that X country skiing. I use to go all afternoon up in the poconos. Put on 20 miles then eat at a steak house. Good stuufff!!!!
BRUTUS, hope tomorrow is better BUD?
BRUTUS,
On the subject of KURT RUSSEL. watch "ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK" da best movie ever by KURT. Watch the part when KURT goes against the pro westler OX BAKER, with baseball bats with spikes in them. KURT beats OX but tell me how many times you see the bat in OXs head? It's in it's out, its in its out..... I think we counted 5 times? Great movie to watch during Thanksgiving, seems thats when they put it on? I don't care, we watched it.
Trainsfan, I am not the electrical wizzard. Post your question on a separate thread. Bob Nelson can help you [he is the one who helped me]. I actually build bridge rectifiers to reduce voltage to prevent burning up smoke unit when used with direct 18V [smoke units in dummies while operating in command]. Also, I am getting some good reports from using teaki lamp wicking for the wicking in smoke units. The persons using that say it does not char like overheated pink insulation.
Laz, cross country skiing? Kind of hard to do here as the lakes will not allow you to water ski over dams and rocks in the rivers.
Good night all. Us rebs have kept the lower air dry so no snow is hitting the ground here. All evaporating before it gets down to the good old Southern soil.
13 and cold here. To get to 28? Then signifigant snow tomorrow into Wednesday? We'll see? They always are getting it wrong here this year?
Stay Frosty,
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Cloudy and 25 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Kids are home for professional study day
laz - Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT has 3 nice nordic ski paths. Wifey and I walked two of them this past summer. Big money, but sooooo worth it.
Morning. Cloudy and cool. Being lazy this AM. Off to cook brakfast. Slept late and then opened this link received by email. [for all those who did not get my email] http://www.bornagainamerican.org:80 Had to play it twice and share it.
Hope all have a great week.
Twenty five years ago and thirty pounds ago we used to Xcountry ski regularly, what a great aerobic exercise. We would go up the road to a nine hole golf course at night when there was a full moon, even when it was zero in ten minutes you would be nice and warm, in twenty minutes you would be sweating. Once we saved enough money we became down hill skiers, not much sweating but even more fun, IMO. Now down hill skiing is so expensive for a daily lift ticket, it's hard to find a bargain in Colorado any more.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good Morning all!
Glad Brutus is feeling better, hope the same for Sir James. Worked the lighting for yesterday's church services. After the PM service, we picked up some copies of Fireproof....See, Jim got his before I did! Anyway, going to start sending out copies to the North East where most of my relatives are. Speaking of Jim, Sturg, how'd you like the movie? I think it will be a great help for marriages.
Chief, thanks for the email. It is a good reminder of what we are. Just wish the folks in Washington DC would get it. Lots of folks are suffering and all they can do is pontificate. Will have to pray for the whole lot of them.
I am finally off call, so I have some projects to get to, perhaps will have time on the layout. With all the train purchases from the show and from recent aquisitions, I may have to find some more room. Really need to complete wiring so I can store more trains under the layout. From the looks of it, I have enough.....nah!
May God Bless each of you this week.Dennis

Good Morning,
Had a good day saturday at the train show in Deerfield Beach at the Amtrac Station. Brought home about $133.00, sold some stuff that I took to several shows but no buyers. I bought a couple of things at the show, a 90 watt transformer for my passenger set and a pair of H.O. engines. Now to see if the stuff I bought works.
I will take a bad day at a train show over any day at work!!
Work was a bit miserable yesterday, had a co-worker tell a lie about me to the on-duty supporvisor, will see if I can go to the plaza manager and get this worked out and the truth told! Heard that on saturday a collector at Lantana had a heart attack at work, rumor has it he didn't feel good and told the supporvisor but was told to finish his shift, died in ambulance on way to hospital. I smell a major lawsuit!! Also the office was closed on thursday & friday, something going on and with saturday there could be a major shake-up or a contracted company being fired! A few days before that the company started writing up people for taking off and not having paid time off to cover the day off, example= an employee went to the hospital for two days and had written proof but was wrote-up because she didn't have the paid days off to cover the time off, this really happened!! Sounds like major violation of Federal Labor Laws!!

I saw on a couple posts elsewhere some want the coffee pot moved out of here ... !
