I have access to my mountain from the rear of the layout.  I'm not even going to attach the track back there.  I just have to crawl under the layout to get to it.  No biggy.

Buckeye, I sometimes go on Monday's when George just happens to be off.  I was there twice last week alone!  I might try to go today to return the switch.

Afternoon All !

Got a quick question, does anyone know if the friction can be adjusted on the throttle knob on the cab-1 ? My cab-1 is getting a little age on it, kinda like it's operator, and it seems as if there is no resistance when turning the knob. Still operates perfectly but you must be careful otherwise the least little contact can turn it resulting in un-wanted speed changes. Question [?]

Good Afternoon Gentlemen:

A beautiful day in Chicagoland (especially since I still have the wife mowing the lawn!).  My son and I went and got haircuts at the local barber shop.  It has been a good day.

Good afternoon;

Trying to rest up a bit from my work yesterday, standing on your feet all day in one spot is very tedius. Going in again on monday morning.

Down here you have at least 200 people apply for one job, never seen so many people out of work!! Have only heard stories of the great depression from grandparents, one story was about earning 5 cents for a whole day's work laying a rock wall. Also seen on news down here about how food donations are dropping off because people are too poor to donate any food and those that were donating are now getting the food so they can get by!

Wes W.  I went over to Gargraves track & switches because of problems with Lionel's 031 switches, had 5 Lionel dud switches that I replaced with Gargraves. What you decide to do is your choice!

Have my nephew coming down on June 10th or 11th, hopefully I will be off from work.

Well, we were home from hospital by 3.  Doctor didn't have to open the arm, but did have to re-break it and set it with a 1/32" pin (looks like an allen wrench).  Boy pretty loopy.  I knew he was out of it when we drove by H(.)(.)TERS, and he wasn't hungry...Cool [8D]Black Eye [B)]Shock [:O]Sleepy [|)]

Evening all

Looks like quite a bit is going on.

Chief- Hope you and Pam start feeling better,

Fife- Hope the boys arm heals better this time.

Wes- Switches can be frustrating at times.  Luckly I can reach all of mine as they have acted up at one time or another.  Murphy (and not Doug) is always ready to strike.

Laz- Scraping deeper?!!! On the pot there is word of several folks having spots being removed lately.  A good friend of mine just had a malignant tumor removed from her leg.  Don't know if I'm just more aware of it or if a recent article has prompted the docs and folks to have places checked out.

Don- hope you shake the bug

Just got in from class in Columbus.  One more class then off for the summer.  The honey do list is growing.  Bride wants to take the camper to East Fork LAke, east of Cincinnati with the grandkids and go to the zoo next week.  It will be over $100 just for fuel, but she still wants to go.

Got to go,

May God bless

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s and a nice breeze.  It was a wonderful day for Lucas' graduation with the weather being nice and the ceremony short (only 130 kids).  The gym was not even full.  The house was crawling with people but we had plenty of chairs and people could eat outside.  A person once told me you were a successful parent if you can get the boys thru high school alive and the girls not pregnant.  By that measure, I am done.  It is a relief.  It has been a long day but I think everybody had a good time.

There were cinnamon rolls on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening from Southern California.  Went to the TCA Western Division train meet today.  We ran a lot of trains on RAK's carpet central that we set up for these meets.  He had a MTH big boy and U.P. 4-12-2 running amoung others.  I had a problem with a MTH VO1000 switch engine on my home layout.  It was taking off like a bullet with low scale MPH's on the hand held controller.  Took the shell off and wiped off the tape on the flywheel and that fixed it.  Now it's running good again.  Hope Chief and Pam are doing better.  If those ham and cheese bisquits did'nt fix it, it must be bad.  Having birthday dinner for my 44 year old son and his family tomorrow night.  Weather is beautiful here in the 80's.  Fife, thanks for the welcome to the forum.  Yes I do like the prototype and have all my life.  I even worked for the SP for 21 years out here. Here's an intersting picture from rush hour the other night - I upped the contrast and brightness a little to make it show up better:

Hey RT - Glad to hear you are settled in and hitting the honey-do lists!

Dennis, hope you had fun at the Cheesers place.  I've managed to avoid that C-E-C place for a couple years now.  Don't like the dog food pizza.  That is a sharp little station, I just looked it up.

Fife, I have a Dream!  A dream where children and wives and visitors can flush with pride and yet without my forced labor with a Rigid Snake followed by what I like to refer to as my Petit Tourettes de Lavatore, which is actually peeling the paint off the walls.  It's a small dream, but my own.  Tongue [:P]  Continued prayers for your son, hope all went well!

Mitch, good luck!  Interviews and hiring is the pits....

Jon, glad to hear you are keeping busy and the motorcycle is being put to such good use Thumbs Up [tup]

Jason - I did a lot of research, glad I found a good one!  Sounds like you got a lot of work done, bet that beer tasted great!

88 - I was pretty sure that the "trustfund" was never ever separate from the general fund?  Maybe I've got that wrong though.  I thought Congress has just been writing IOU's the whole entire time....

Chuck, that storm was here last night at 12 or so, what a mess!  I think it's cousin just rolled over about an hour ago, but seems to be clear for the moment.

Doug, that 96 sounds fishy to me.  Might be better to wait for one that is closer to the original setup?  I'll keep an eye out.

Don - I'm going to run the TARDIS back to just before I opened that tub of potato salad and scraped off that blue and green gravy and thunk myself on the forehead - that might do the trick!  Thanks for the advice!  Laugh [(-D]  Hope you are feeling better soon!

Chief, keep us informed.  Glad to hear that Pam is doing better, too.  You can thank Congress for that omnibus reconciliation act which delayed your payment by a month.  It's okay, though.  I'm pretty sure they cut you off right away if you die, to make up for it!

Magicman, nice pic of the fawn!

Wes, I am glad to hear that your layout is coming along so well!  Hope you got that switch replaced.

Doug, let me know if you find a way to adjust the "drag" on that knob as I think that would be a handy trick.

John, glad you had a good day!

Lee, I used to have to stand for like 12 hours at a shot in a pharmacy on a concrete floor.  Be sure you wear good shoes!

Jim SP - good luck with your last class and hope you have a good trip!  Take plenty of sunscreen for the zoo etc?

Mike - big congrat's on the graduate!!!

SPMAN, we are either too cold or too hot.  Lows in the 50's earlier this week and it was about 95 yesterday!  Yuck!

Full of pancakes and grits from having breakfast for dinner at Crackerbarrel.  Just watching The Major and the Minor - bought it on dvd for my wife.  Great old movie and even had some train action early on that I had forgotten about.  Ginger Rogers sure was great!

Oh, and a little package arrived from England!  I shall have to post some photographs on the morrow Wink [;)]

Sir James, Doug, Kurt, Chief, Don, Laz, and ??? just say the word.  The TARDIS is already warmed up and I know you are all feeling better now!  Whistling [:-^]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Evening All

I hope everyone had as nice a day as we did. Sunny middle 70s, a touch windy though. No  train running today just spent time outdoors.

No biggie, just have to crawl under the layout, well time will let you know its a real biggie. Of course you may have more layouts yet to  come, and we learn from past mistakes.

Fridge food has been inspected and passed, but if you guys want to stick with banilla and root beer thats a safe way to go. So load up and move em out.  S.J.

John - you da man! That would never happen at our house- even if I were on my death bed.

Nice day here. Spent morning on the porch reading the papers. Construction guys showed up to install our new front door. Turned into an all day project with one problem after another which caused me to step in and make some decisions on how I wanted to to be. So the door is basically in. Needs trim out on the interior side - caulking and painting on the outside.

Also got yard mowed which is a good thing since it may hit 97 tomorrow.

Weather for next 7 days - mid-90s and sunny/partly sunny.

Mike C congrats on the grad!

Don B - get better!

Hope everyone has a great evening and a great day tomorrow.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 59 degrees. Going up to 78 today with sunshine.

Today is a less busy day. I need to clean out the shed and get a few things ready for rubbish pickup. Then, I will take it easy. Not much new on the train subject. Just normal cleaning needed in train room.

Nascar race today from Dover.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Only 21 days until fifey's-wifey & I shuffle off to STOWE/BURLINGTON, VERMONT, for the TCA convention.  AND-MAN-OH-MAN-DO-WE-NEED-TO-GET-AWAY!!!  I was actually pondering offering the "darlings" $100 each to just do nothing that week.  Don't go out. Don't ride bikes.  No boyfriends.  Just sit on their hands for 1 stinking week.  And I'd kinda make it like the DIRTY DOZEN: 1 slip up, and everyone looses.

Boy is amazingly not experiencing a great amount of pain (last check 2 on a scale to 10).  I'll share my good moment with y'all: yesterday when he was laying on the gurney in the post-op room, he looked over at me and said in a scratchy voice, "Thank you for being here for me".  Ups and downs of parenting right there...

Did work on my NW GP-20 last night, and got it all decalled up.  Had to paint in the number boards, and I'm not too pleased with the results;may have to weather a little bit.

Morning all.  I have slept for a day and a half.  Just woke up after sleeping off and on all day yesterday.  Only block of time I did not sleep was when I went to Miss Edna's.  Still coughing up bad stuff.  Thought it was allergies but not now.

Fife, bet it looks good.  Do us a picture.

Off to find a cup of coffee.

Morning all. Beautiful here - off to church now with just the youngest - so much easier - the teens go to their evening youth group now together since the middle boy'll be a freshman and the daughter has a year to go - following Mike C's comment, I guess so far so good as she's not preggers nor flunked out entirely -  no summer school for her as her class 'o failure isn't being offered. So we'll re-arrange her senior schedule. At least they cut the yard, Roy - poorly though. LOL. Hope Fife Jr and Pam and John are recovering well.  Cool photo, Brutus.

Good Morning - Feeling great this morning!  Best in 2 weeks, was working in train room yesterday, then about 6, went in to reclinerize.  Had some old John Wayne movies that Chris picked up, ($3.99 for 15 hours) they are very early.  First DVD had 4 movies from 1932 & 1935.  Very interesting and entertaining.  I only made it through a couple of hours then lapsed into Recliner Trance, got up at 1:00 and went to bed.  So lots of sleep.

Going to go Rail Fan a 4-8-4 this morning, about 6 miles away.  Old 3751 is making a run from LA Union Station to Sandy Eggo.  Should be fun!

Trying to resolve problem on layout.  I have a figure 8 cross over that accomodates reversing the engine/train direction.  Two legs go over a walkthrough area, trying to get it as a removable section.  (72 track).  Of course the issue is making removable and yet stable.  Definetly a challange.  Going to see if I can compress the soundboard under the sections that overlap onto the tabletop.  This to accomodate elevation of the track to meet with the stationary track.  The biggest issue is that it accomodates the heavy engines, without derailing.  Of course it would be child's play for Buckeye.  Will see about some pics this afternoon.

Chief sure hope you dont have what I've been trying to get rid of.  It's nasty!!

Fife, those special moments are really tremendous!!!  Can make you feel that you havn't done enough.  Sure hope his recovery is quick, is he left or right handed?

Brutus, I'm looking forward to the next Tardis trip, been frustrating just sitting around sleeping.  That float sounds great!  Have to give Sir James another try, I'm sure it will be fine, maybe its not such a good idea taking "doggie bags" when leaving.  The timing may have caused an accelerated issue with the stuff in the doggie bag.

Need to go and get a good perch for the Run By.

Don
