Good evening, fellas,

After reading posts by Roy, Fife, Don, and Jim, I couldn't help but feel empathy for you guys.  As parents the range of emptions we experience is enough to drive one nuts.  As they grow,  these issues, escapades, and adventures are replaced by others.  We never seem to stop worrying....goes with the territory, even when they are adults.

Brutus (Jim).....how do support your child but at the same time give them the latitude to let him/her work things out for themselves?  Do we teach our kids that violence is the solution?  Which of us didn't experience the same thing growing up?  The difference today is that serious violence can follow.  I can offer no better solution other than what you did, calmly communicate the issue and let a responsible adult monitor and take appropriate action.  Problem is, bullies can be clever at tipping their hand only when they know they won't be caught at it and there is no consequence.

Dennis.....congratulations on your K5 graduate!  What is K5?

Thanks for all the advice on this email barrage I've been suddenly getting from the CTT Forum.  I'll let you all know if I have any success.

Mornin' Fellas.

Chief - it had nothing to do with criticism it had to do with the 'Zeek'-like post.

Be gentle fellas we all make mistakes. Selector was just attempting to avoid a situation and he may have inadvertantly deleted posts that shouldn't have been deleted.

Raining right now, supposed to clear up later this afternoon.

The new grass is growing. Looks like the makings of a nice new lawn, may have to put some more seed down to help thicken it up though.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 46 degrees. Going up to 62 today with more rain. We need some sunshine for a few days.

Today is a  busy day. I have a bunch of things to do around the house. I want to do some cleaning in the train room. Usual dusting and such. I am going to run trains later. Maybe relax a little.

Dining car has rolled in and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Interesting article on the price of gas/oil

http://money.cnn.com/2008/05/20/news/economy/gas_price_history/index.htm?cnn=yes

Some truths in there, some 'party-line' gobbelygook.

Rich, Ever wonder how you can get 100% humidity? That would mean the air is 100% moisture vapor... Confused [%-)] I prefer them to tell me the dew point (temperature to which the air would have to drop inorder for it to rain), the closer it gets to the actual temperature the more likely I am to stay inside!

Good morning all,

It will be some interesting weather in SE Indiana with maybe some sun, maybe some rain, nobody knows for sure.  Did weights and track work at the YMCA last night.  The kids were practicing in the rain and cold for soccer last night, but I took a pass.  Did some more Second Life.  Interesting place.  Wife watched "Dancing with the Stars" and "House".  Lucas should get his car back today.  He is chomping at the bit.  Maybe he will take better care of it now.  Dbaker48, thanks for the story about the turbine, the "Whooshmobile".  I wish Granatelli had stuck with the Novis, sweet sound.  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Damp and 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Got everything done but the painting yesterday.  Called P&D with my decal order. The kids and I had a campfire last night, and the boy and I discussed "things".

Speaking of the boy, off to specialist at 1530 hrs to get his arm set.  Thanks for all the well-wishes.  Glad dbaker's boy is on the mend...now that was scarey.

Good Morning All

fifedog- I don't know if you have used Microscale decals before, if not you need to know they are very thin and must be handled very carefully or they will tear. Put them on a gloss coat thats wet so they can slide into place. then draw the water off with a paper towel. If you already know all this,  then disregard.

Sunny 50s this morning going to 65. I did not get much sleep last nite, kept waking myself up from the congestion noise trying to breath. otherwise all is well and good thoughts to those on the mend....S.J.

Sir james - Yep, very familiar with Microscale, but good advice should be shared.  And for those following along, use SOLVE-A-SET to make the decal film vanish.  Thanks again.  The feller who took my order never gave me a total, nor confirmed they were in stock, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I have been reading posts but been real busy with work and commitments, so as Grandma said God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason, listen twice as much as you talk.  I hope all are on the mend and doing well.

Good morning,

Should get to about 92 or 93 today, a few degrees warmer than where anjdevil2 lives. Got a couple of wild fires nearby, about 50 miles to the west and another about 58 miles to the south near Miami.

Still looking for work, nothing as of yet. Economy is really bad, not even temp agencies hiring right now.

Wow it is humid and warm.  T'storms building from this.  Just finished planting MO garden.  More cucs, okra, more corn and some watermellons.  Cantalopes and some more tomatoes are not quite big enough to transplant.  Got lots of peppers [hot and sweet] up in greenhouse.  A few weeks and they will be out.

Brent, when weather forecasts call for "100% humidity", this refers to the "relative humidity", and not the total percentage of water vapor in the atmosphere. The humidity value tells us how much water vapor the air is holding "relative" to the maximum amount of water vapor that it could hold at a given temperature. Thus, a 100% humidity level only means that the air is holding all (100%) of the moisture that it can possibly hold at that temperature and pressure.

A simple way to visualize this is to imagine water vapor molecules floating around between the nitrogen and oxygen molecules that make up our air. As the temperature rises, the air expands and there is more space available between the nitrogen and oxygen molecules to hold extra water molecules. As the air cools, the nitrogen and oxygen air molecules move back closer to each other, and, in effect, they squeeze out the water molecules between them, in much the same way as we squeeze the water out of a wet sponge.

The temperature to which the air must cool before the water vapor in the air condenses back into a liquid state is what we call the dew point. This is why we see dew on the grass in the morning. While the hot air during the day was able to hold a lot of water vapor, once the temperature begins to drop overnight, the air can no longer hold all of those water molecules, and the water vapor gets "squeezed" back out as condensation or dew.

Just an update.....

Chris is getting released from the hospital today, he still has a tube in his chest which is to evacuate air.  As a result of the X-Rays, he still has a small amount of leakage from the lung, but the Dr., is hoping that will close soon.  So they want him back on Thursday to determine whether or not surgery is required to "staple" the opening.  The Dr indicated that if the lung forms the scar tissue to close the opening, that there is a 30% chance of a reoccurance within the 1 to 1 1/2 yrs.  If they do the staple then that goes away.  So we need to wait and see what happens on Thursday.  Overall, he is doing pretty good, has occassional pain just due to the presence of the "tube".  Certainly, will be glad when get back to primarily being concerned about trains.

I'm still getting every CTT post emailed to me and my inbox gets buried.....lots of deleting.  Since the emails are dumping into my business email address, it's creating an issue for me.  I've gone into my profile a bunch of times under email options and have remembered to punch the save changes button on the bottom to no avail.  I just get a message that it will take 10 minutes to update my profile.

Thanks, Chief.  I made the mistake of reading through the FAQs for help and found something that recommends contacting the Administrator or the Moderator for help but didn't define who these people were or how to contact them.  I've seen different guys jump in to delete posts or to calm down a squabble, but Bob Keller isn't the only one.

Guess Rich and I will have to start a huge beef and start throwing some Censored [censored] choice words around to get this problem fixed.  Then when we get someone's attention, cry for help before we get booted from the Forum.

edw - Thanks for the refresher course in meteorology (I learned all that back in undergrad).

Interesting article on the CSX Gateway Project.
http://www.timesonline.com/articles/2008/05/20/news/doc48323453e1caa152487083.txt

"More and more, the nation is becoming aware of the tremendous safety, economic and environmental benefits that railroads create. Our trains can move a ton of freight 423 miles on a single gallon of fuel, and one train can carry the load of more than 280 trucks," Ward said.

So does anyone know if this is true? Do RR Engines REALLY get 423 miles to the gallon? If so then we need to hire GE to design automobile engines!

I'm not sure of their math, but that was a big story in the local news a month or two ago.  Somehow they caluculate that based on the absurd amount of weight in cargo they carry vs distance.  I have personally seen a lot of CSX advertisement the last couple of months, even before the double-stack release.  I say yeah!

Brent and Wes.....CSX is advertising here in MA. the same mileage figures, extolling the cost benefit for freight hauling.  If memory serves me correctly, the ads also mention the benefit to air quality and relief of road congestion.  Somehow sometime back CSX ran into a licensing problem due to repeated safety violations, and I'm not sure they can run in MA. at the moment.  I'll have to do some research on that.
