Good Morning for wet Southern Ohio

Chuck - Happy Birthday

Happy Mother's Day!

Don- Thanks for sharing the outcome of you pool game, and the experience

Doug - In my thoughts and prayers

We celebrated Mother's Day yesterday.  I got home from class and our daughters had supper started, grandkids playing and a great time had by all.  Got some train time in with grandson, he like running the cars along the outside road.  Took a truck and filled it with animals to take them for a ride.  I'll need to rearrange stuff but it was fun!

Yesterday in class was my day to do my Mass practicum, including the homily.  I even worked a train related metaphor into the homily.  All went well, what a relief!

I won a plasticville barn on ebay.  It is white and original to replace the Bachman plasticville brown barn on the layout.  I'm thinking it will brighten up the farm area, what do you think?

All have a great day

May God bless

Jim

Happy Mom's Day, guys and gals!  Special wishes for Misty, Miss Lisa, Donna and any others to whom it may apply!

Fife - no joke, I'm glad the tornado wasn't near Jefferson County or West County, all my family is okay.

I kept watching my DVD-R of The General, so I finally ponied up and got the Kino release. It's from an excellent print, the music is appropriate, and this is still one of my favorite train movies of all time - highly recommended!

Kurt - I have some Maxell CD Cleaning Cloths and some Maxell Cleaning Spray we bought years ago - this works for the usual greasy gunk that kids get on the dvds, with a little elbow grease.  We bought some kind of automatic thing once, but it didn't work.  The polish and wheels actually left marks you could see on the dvd when it was done.  I don't remember the brand.  I think there was one called DVD Doctor or something that some folks had sworn by....  I once managed to salvage a copy of Vertigo by using a paper towel and toothpaste to even out a really deep scratch, but I don't recommend this!  The DVD would still glitch out a bit when it hit the bad area, but would continue.  I think we eventually just threw that one away.  It came already scratched in the case when we got it, but it was our own fault - we didn't open the case until like 6 months after we bought it, due to setting it on top of some other dvds where it got misplaced....  Oh well, live and learn.

I'll be back in a little while, so TTYL!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Happy Mothers Day !!!

Doug M - Hope the situation takes care of itself quickly, could be the opportunity could end up in an even closer relationship.

Chuck - Another day older, eh. Just try to keep the after parties reasonable.

Chief - Sounds like a major feast. You should have made a video and it would have probably ended up on the Food Chanel.

Sturgeon - I like the farm, really nice looking barn.  That is definetly the cleanest pasture I've ever seen!

Brutus - REALLY glad to hear you and yours were not in its path!  My uncle lives in Paragould AR,  have heard more of AR on the news in the past 2 weeks than the previous 5 years.  Fortunately they are still fine.

Spent yesterday wiring up buildings, got 29 establishments connected. Sure makes it easier with 2 people! Chris was under the layout connecting the wires, I was on top drilling holes, stripping, wires, and connecting. Worked well. May attempt some accessories next.

Going to have a Bar B Que, with some friends, and MIL/FIL, then see a movie. Wife wants to go see Iron Man. Chris and I went to see a movie the other night, "88 Minutes, critics had rated it an F, we thought it was pretty good.

Hope everyone has a great day !!

Brutus,

Was that the Skip Doctor you tried?  I used one with great results.  The trick was to buff the disc with the felt square.  This restored the reflectivity of the disc.  I saved alot of games with it.

The clean pasture is due to diligently keeping after the pies.  In the pic the farmer is heading into the pasture with a bucket to get the pile in the upper left corner

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you are making sure she enjoys it. Cloudy, cold and rainy here. Worked video at church today - going to take everyone out to supper tonight. Daughter is grounded for the next month or two or three.

Don, I was very impressed by the desert - it was so... desert-like. Everything brown and sandy around this hotel out in the middle of nowhere - big cacti, big mountains and funky birds. Can't imagine what it's like in August if it was in the 90s in May. But loved the sun. Got a chance to watch the UP run through Phoenix whilst waiting in traffic to catch an earlier flight home.

Jim, love that barn. I have two of 'em.

I started working on my latest contract project the other day.  The only thing train related about it is that it's for the same individual I built the layout for.  This time it's a 1:7 scale R/C piper cub.  He has an almost built kit that he wants me to transform, more magic, into a display piece by hiding/removing all vestiges of an R/C plane and adding a detailed cockpit.  By the time it's done I'll have funds for another engine, that is if Lionel'll ever come out with a CB&Q O-5, or 5A.

First, belated birthday greetings to Chuck.  Was pretty busy most of yesterday and then I developed a fever and have felt pretty miserable so I didn't read the forum.  Getting tired typing these few words.

Since I still felt bad today, I just called mom and wished her "Happy Mother's Day."  Had intended to go visit but not with the way I feel.  Promised to visit soon.

Hope I get the grass cut on Tuesday, only good weather day this coming week.  Otherwise, I might have to get a couple goats myself.  I would have cut it yesterday if I felt better.

Congrats to RT.

Got to go,

Evening All

Ahhh, the house is quiet again. The kids did their duty and stopped by to see mom. She settled the dinner issue by coming home from church with an arm full of KFC. I putting the leftovers in the garage fridge as the guys don't know about that one and won't eat my tomorrows leftovers. But I do have banilla and peach ice cream for them. No trains today to many people going every which way. I hope everyone had a fun day.   Goodnite Chewy, Rudy,ect....  S.J.

Oh yea,its been raining since noon, just lite,no heavy stuff.

Will try again.

A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mothers out there.

I took the wife out for breakfast this morning and bought her a GPS for her car.

I am no longer running trains blind!  Those of you that have seen my layout will know what I am talking about.   The TV in my basement layout room finally died after 25 years so we bought a new one for the main TV room and I moved the old one to the basement.  Since this one has plenty of aux inputs I was able to connect the wireless camera that I picked up at York to view the other half of the layout.  Works great.

Hope all had a good one.  Too much lasagna, so won't eat the chicken out in the auxilliary fridge.  Might have a cup of peach later though, Sir James.

JimT - It was some cheap one that we picked up on a whim at Walmart one time.  It was junk.

John F - sounds cool, neat that you can watch the trains on tv like that.

Jim SP, nice barn.  I have a version of that one from Lionel that came with a chicken coop.  A white one would be nice, though.

Don, I usually really like the movies that the critics don't like.  They had a story on the radio the other day about how all the news orgs are letting their "critics" go or not replacing them.

Roger, sounds like a good deal for both of you!

Steve, well, where did that money go?  I hate to lose money more than I like winning sometimes...

DougNaG, thanks for the headsup - done!

Greg, I've been feeling poorly for a couple days, maybe it's a bug?

Laz - hope you had a great visit and enjoyed da game!  Ever listen to Belly Up on the Bob and Tom show?

Doug M - for a girl of a certain age, being grounded and away from her friends and stuff is worse than a death sentence.  Hang tough, dude.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well just finished building the control panel for the layout and I must say it turned out pretty good. I'm just sitting here sipping an iced Bushmills and admiring my work. Its a 3ft by 1ft box with a sloping top thats mounted to the face board of the layout. The top has a 7.5 by 7.5 in square hole that the z transformer protrudes from. Really looks like the z is a permanent part of the top panel. Got all the block control switches and turnout switches mounted to the top as well. If you unscrew the top there is lots of space inside for expansion. I plant to have the TMCC command base and PM-1s inside out of sight. I just hope they will work under cover like that. I hadn't planned on getting into the project this far today after the drive from Biloxi Ms but I got the bug after running the trains for a while. Can't believe how fast time goes whenever I'm working on this thing. I've been at it four hours and  it seems like 30 minutes. What a great stress reliever this hobby is.

Evening all!

Nice cool day here - started in low 60's and high about 77. Good day to mow the lawn in between Mother's Day events. Took the missus to a nice dinner tonight at a seafood restaurant. The kiddos even had a good time. This is in contrast to making our son come to church with us today (vs Sunday school). The surprise gift - orchestrated by my daughter - a nice sterling silver bracelet from James Avery - was a big hit tonight at dinner. Lots o' cards, flowers, gift, and dinner made the day.

Have to travel to Temecula CA on business Tues afternoon. It is about an hour north of Sandy Eggo. Back late Friday.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Got home around 7:30.  Fed deer and fish.  Watched the Tudors.  Then crashed in chair.  Just woke up.  Do know another rain storm came through just as I crashed.  Had earlier one that was a sudden flood [hard downpour in a short time].  Pond was really flowing over spillway.  Off to bed.  Later today, off to Frankie's to do some work on old house as selling later this week.  Sleep tight.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 50 degrees, with light rain. Going up to 66 today, with some rain. Need a sunny day.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run and chores around the house. Can't do much outside. Need to put the garden in, as soon as the rain lets up. Ran trains yesterday for a couple hours. Still working on cleaning up the old engine. Almost done.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Morning all. Looks to be a good day for trains, 56 deg and rain. Need to wash some clothes today and run to the grocery store. When the wife gets home I will take the kids to visit my mom in the hospital.

Mothers day was busy to say the least. My mother had to be admited to the hospital yesterday for cellalitice. (I know I messed up the spelling of that word, it has something to do with the cells being inflamed) My dad said she had a fever on Saturday and her leg was a little red were she had broken it back in February. So they went to the emergency room yesterday and after some tests they decided to admit her. She will be there till Tuesday when she has her next chemo treatment. She just started chemo for a tumor they removed two weeks ago. They removed all of it, the chemo is just a precautionary measure. They want to see how the next dose of chemo affects the cellalitice on Tuesday. She had her first dose of chemo last tuesday and are wondering if it caused the problem she is having with her leg. She got it about two years ago from a cut. As I understand it once you have it you never fully get rid of it. So a cut or break can cause it to act up again.

Talk later its time to feed the kids and get them ready for school.

Mornin' boys.  Good day to dress like a Glouster fisherman; 48, raining, with tropical storm-like wind gusts.  Calling for flooding during high tide today.  The new grass seed hopefully is loving this.  Our beauties woke up late this morning, and were able to do in 35 minutes what ususally takes them 1 hr 40 mins to accomplish...am I missing something?

Good day yesterday; got to visit me Madre for a while, and fifey's-wifey was very happy...Evil [}:)]
