Well all here's what with the house we made an offer and they counter offered. we verbally accepted but then rethought it out and before they finally sent the paperwork to us we changed our minds ( will discus why in a few lines) anyway We had looked at another house that was listed for about $3000.00 less and its 1600 sq feet. They closed in the garage and (they call it a 4Th bedroom) I say its more like a den as it has the washer and dryer at the far end . I'll probably (if we get this one) build a wall so you have a laundry room off the den. I first said it would make one heck of a train room and wife agreed but its right off the kitchen no door ( yes I put on in and still may.) its one bath and 3 bedrooms. the kitchen is fair size with a door to the back yard. this also has about 1/2 acre of land were the other was about 1/4 to 1/3 acre.

Now we dropped the other as we made a very good offer and basically they came back with what was the original asking price. oh the more we thought about it the more we realized that 1 they had a fake price of 69,900 and reduced to 59,900 and when we offered 58,000 and they pay closing they came back with 61,000 but the listing said bring all offers seller very motivated also discovered seller related to selling agent and I checked court records and he bought it for $35,000 a little over a year ago ( I say repo) and did about $10,000 in improvements but wants to still get another $15,000 or more profit. houses in the area local area have been selling for 48,000 to 54,000 so they were way off from the get go and there was a crack in the outside brick near the fireplace. another red flag to us.

HI GIZ,

Busy day here.  It wasn't the nicest of days in south central PA , about 56 for high and cloudy all day.  As JOHN said about 3/4 of an inch of rain last nite, more tomorrow.  Went to nephews First Holy Communion yesterday, nice.  Got back and then the rain started so went down and ran trains for 2 hrs.  NO PILE UPS in MILLERSBURG Yards!  All ran great ran all diesels.  Looked cool.

Today, did grocery shopping, laundry, cleaned out turtle tank, ran a nice 6 miler, and took dog for walks.   Watched the TRIBEs last two innings on TV should have won dat game. Tired now going to watch Deadliest Catch on Discovery.

RT, Keep after them on that price and good luck to ya.  Make sure you check it all out first, hope all works out.

B good or B gone,

Where did this day go - and never got to run the trains (yet). Cooked home-made pancakes for dinner. Yum! Bride home - haven't seen her all day. Have a good night!

Let me try this one again....

Grayson, happy birthday!

RT.  Glad things are looking up on your side.  Will pray for God's guidance in your efforts.

We are still a bit under the weather here, but doing well otherwise.  Ordered a new dishwasher from Home Depot.  Went with a LG brand.  Also, bought two storm doors that have the hide away screen feature.  This will be great on those spring and fall evenings when a nice cool breeze is a welcome thing in these parts.

Church was great.  Tonight, they had a special musical performed by the young children of the church.  Funny to watch.

Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Laz, my cousin took his first Holy Communion (RC) when he was a little kid, about 10 years old maybe?  He came back to sit with the family and his mom asked him how he liked it.  He said, "Pretty good, but they should put peanut butter on it", Laugh [(-D]

Thanks Doug - I kept thinking we should tough it out and all, but I do think my son and I both got a touch of sun poisoning, plus the boyscouts were doing the cooking and apparently they see grease as a form of flavoring or sauce?  Tummy is already rumbling Sad [:(]

RT - kudos for looking up that information, if I ever move remind me to call you first!  That guy might want that "flip" profit, but maybe that is just too bad, right?  Hang tight and I am praying for the best on all fronts.

No trains today - got shower head replaced.  Son and I packed up dried out tent and equipment.  Need to mow lawn, but just too worn out and tired.  Now the temp has dropped like crazy and cold rain is coming down.  I heard we will have frost tomorrow morning?

No banilla for me Sir James, I'm a little under the weather and have to go to work tomorrow no matter what, since I'm scheduled off on Friday for son's fishing trip with school.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all.  Stayed sunny all day and then about dark, the rains came.  First wife and Second wife went off together this afternoon.  I fished from the bank for a while.  Second wife stayed for dinner.  We watched Georgia Rules On Demand.  Pretty good movie.  [for all who don't know, second wife is a joke from months ago when friend used my airport parking account as my wife to get an airport space during Chirstmas holidays.  Actually wife's best friend.]  Second wife went home. Wink [;)]

Good rains and weather alert just went off.  Flash Flood warnings for the County.  Far cry from the drought of months ago.  Thank the Lord for the rain.

Found a new feature on the Time Warner HD cable.  Since we have digital phone service with them too, when phone rings, caller ID pops up in left corner of screen.  Also did a DVR recording of a movie and watched later this day.  New toys.

Sleep tight all.  God bless.

I'm just heading to bed, so you can keep mine cold in the freezer, okay?  Temps are falling like crazy here - we had a pretty nice week last week and supposed to warm up again.  Oh, yes, hope Dennis and family are feeling better too.  BTW - we ate at TGI Fridays tonight.  Head a chipoltle steak sandwich with plantains on chippota bread - pretty good!  Also had a slice of Peanut Butter pie that I shared with my daughter, Dennis!  Oh, I took a bunch of pictures on my phone at the reenactment, but they are all bad - the straps on my phone case were showing on the sides?  Darn.  I'll have to crop them all to remove the straps.

Evening!

RT:  Good Call!  Way to keep your head in the game!

Finally home.  Church this am.  Greek/Russian Orthodox Easter party with the neighbors today!  Yum!  Salmon, and Pierogies!  Spent a good bit of time just talking with the neighbors.  Met some new arrivals.  Off again to Birthday party...and just arrived back.

Evenin' All,

RT, Great job of doing your homework. Thumbs Up [tup]

Roy, I assume that you didn't get any free time in Sandy Eggo since I didn't receive any word about a visit to the museum. Whistling [:-^]

I am still tired today. The munckin just flat wore me out yesterday, then it was up at 6am and grampa had to make waffles and sausage for breakfast. With all the activities on his platter yesterday I was amazed that there wasn't any crankiness, he was probably to tired to fuss. I know I was. Picked up a clown handcar for him as a surprise, hope he likes it.

Hotter than heck here of late but it looks like the hi causing the heat and winds is moving east. Started to see some hi thin clouds coming in from the west, thank goodness.

RT - You sure did a good job investigating the house, I'll bet the seller wasn't expecting anyone as thorough as you were.  Good Job.

John - Yep I've been thinking about it and I'm sure !!  Definetly pick up that new 10000 set.  It would look good just sitting around.

Doug, the Fullerton Rail Fest is being held this weekend.

John (you need some of these as posters for your train room.)

Had a good day, watched the race, fixed a few things in the train room.

Bed time.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cool 48 degrees. Raining lightly. Going up to 56 today, with rain all day.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run and chores around the house. Typical Monday. Glad I got all of the mowing done. Now, the grass will grow, from the rain. Looks about 6 days from each mowing.

Plan to run trains this afternoon. Good day for it.

Dining car is here and serving breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning all,

The forecast is for rain and cooler temps in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  Watched the IRL race at Kansas over at my dad's Sunday.  Did trackwork at the YMCA earlier in the day after church.  Lucas and his girlfriend had a nice time at prom.  They looked really good as well.  They got in about 3 AM.  I am glad that is over though.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car Sunday and English muffins and cereal were on it today.  Talk about variety.  The "saucy wench" is also a good barber as I got my ears lowered on Saturday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all,

It is cool and rainy in Southern Ohio.  The weather makes for a change in the plans for today, need to fix MIL's siding and putting a clothes line post for daughter.  Price of electric has her thinking green.  She grew up seeing laundry drying on the line and is just now figuring out why.  I finally have a day off, well I've been off since Friday but have been busy as a one-armed paper hanger.  We had two services Sunday I helped with then went to Cincinnati visiting youngest daughter, dinner talk and drive home getting in late last night.

Chief- Ever have biscuits and squirrel gravy?  I had it many a morning.

Jack- Thanks for the encouragement, please pray for me and my classmates.  Ordination is in seven months, one day, forty five minutes, but who is counting.  Ordination is going to be the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral in Columbus.  All are welcome!

Jim F- Sounds like a memorable camporee.  I commend you for helping with the scouts.  I was in scouts got to Life Scout and our key scout leader got a job transfer, and none of the other adults picked up the responsibility, and the troop folded.  Too bad.  Keep up the good work, the kids need scouting.

Mel- Your story about Eric is neat.  You never know when something you do will have a major influence in another's life.

RT- Good catch and re-thought on the house.  Sounds like the house was a flip.  Wonder what else is hiding?

Dennis- Hope you are felling better.

May God bless you all

Jim

Welcome Sarpilot, the train advice is good here, however you should be very careful about what some people suggest you eat. Especially from the Chief.

Have the day off today and wife out of town. Getting ready to go out and get some electrical supplies for the new layout. Going to use the terminal strip system. Any suggestions as to where to get them and colored wire and stuff. IE Home depot, Radio Shack?

Good morning all from sunny Dallas. Started at a brisk 45 today and headed for the upper 70's Cool [8D].

Doug d'g - I was in Sandy Eggo's for meetings that ran each day from 8 am until late evenings (dinner with team). There was no spare time to even consider the museum or getting out on the town. Too bad as we were in the middle of town at a hotel on I-8 on the South Hotel Circle. As I had been out of town for nearly 2 weeks, I was ready to get home Friday night.

Hope all are having a great day today!

Regards, Roy

Sarpilot - Welcome to the pot!!!  Yep, the advice is ALWAYS good here, sometimes applying it though can get you in trouble, so be careful.

Sounds like the fire that started in the local mountains may last as long as a week!  Apparently, it is in some pretty rugged area, even though 1000 people have been evacuated for safety.

Took me 3 hours yesterday to do a DCS upgrade, all because I read the instructions wrong!  I left a jumper wire connected that should not have been.  Once I corrected the problem all upgrades were finished withing 15 minutes.  Then made a major discovery!  With the new upgrade ALL the features in my TMCC RS5 Cab Forward are functional!  Previously, the Street Horn was not functional with DCS, NOW IT IS !

Next undertaking will be to try and download a sound file for a AC4000cw, the roadname I have is UP, the engine has ditch lights but they don't work.  Contacted MTH about a year ago, and apparently being prototypical for that road name they were not enabled.  But they are on other road names.  Also have a J series that I got at York last year, and had it upgraded to PS2, the sound system it has as a result of the upgrade is for freight.  So want to try and get a passenger  sound system.

Then this coming weekend is Railfest in Fullerton, has been a fun day previously.  Lots of memorbila.

Off to work, going to be a bad day, "Bill Paying"  UGH !!

I'M looking at color coding and home depot seems to have a pretty good selection. Would you use 14 or 16 guage on a smaal layout? Is there any electrical disadvantage of using heavier wire other than just being less flexable and harde to work with.

Thanks.

What a bummer, if you had still been here saturday you would have been in for a treat.

Saturday was the "Kid's Club & Fun Run", followed by our Spring Fling cookout after the museum closed. Burgers & dogs with all the other cookout goodies followed with yummy cake, you know with the icing that is like eating sugar rite out of the bag (my favorite frosting) Clown [:o)] .

SirJ, The easiest way to make your decision less painful, Expansion !

Don & John, I just don't know about that 10000, that is one funky lookin' loco.

Don, Hope the weather is co-operative for Fullerton, this heat is miserable. I've got some yard projects that I need to get going on but the heat and fire danger make them a no go for now.

The ZW transformers have a build in Circuit breaker at 15a.  14ga wire will handle 15a safely.  I have been using 5a fast blow fuses in line between the ZW and the track for safety, and am still planning to use 14ga stranded wire.  The newer TMCC electronic engines don't like votage spikes, and circuit breakers have not been proven to be 100% accurate, so I am using the fuses.  My layout is only 4'x7'.

Saturday we ran 8 scale modern TMCC trains pulling 20-car consists, including multiple engine lash ups, on a 30'x40' layout and the power ran between 4.8a and 5.2a.
