Happy Birthday, DON!!!!!
Have been keeping up with the posts but no ambition to write much. Trip to Michigan and back was fun but tiring. Week ago Wednesday I rode the Silver Meteor from Jax, FL to NYC. Train was an hour late. Had nice but expensive lunch at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal. Rode the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago. Train was ON TIME!!!(Thanks to some schedule padding at end of run.) Rode the Blue Water to Kalamazoo, MI which was also on time. Food on the Meteor and Lake Shore was tasty but not quite the same as is all microwaved again. Shades of when Jimmy Carter was President. Was part of a surprise party for my Sister and BIL 50th wedding anniversary. Rode the "non-stop" Wolverine from Kalamazoo back to Chicago. We stopped at Porter, IN with an announced wait of about 10 minutes because of Norfolk Southern freight traffic. 30 minutes later we finally get the signal to proceed. Chicago arrival was an hour late as a result. Did not take any pictures as was traveling light because I had to fly home Sunday night. $ 2.00 subway-Blue Line-ride from downtown Chicago to O'hare. Flight from O'Hare to Jacksonville touched gate 5 minutes early. My birthdays have caught up with me as I can't recover from travel and partying like I used to.
Have been doing my part to stimulate the economy. My laptop died 2 weeks ago and wifey wanted a new computer tower. Bought both this week just before Florida's tax exemption for back to school break kicked in.
Everybody keep on with the trains.

Fife, you're right.....after the first two or three. Then it doesn't seem to matter as much.
JimSP......where is my head at? Too many light beers, I guess. Fife's fault. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! What kind of loot did you get that you're not supposed to tell us about?
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Don...Our Buckeye Buddy Wes, who is currently out to sea, sent me an email to me wishing you a Happy Birthday. You been wished.
The Great Ohio State Fair has opened. It is not the same without the great model train displays. A stupid fair manager many years ago made them take out all the model trains and the garden railroad so they could make more revenue from the building. Last time I attended the building was being used for a rest area for the elderly, like Don Baker. The layout was once featured in Model Railroading Magazine.
It is Buckeye HOT. State Fair time is usually the hottest days of the summer.
I have thought about posting this question separately on the forum, but we all know the coffee drinkers are the brightest bulbs in the CTT box. What store do you know of that carries an abundance of Williams Trains? The largest display that this Buckeye has seen was in Wheeling, WV at Patrick's Trains.
On the road tomorrow in an area with no train stores. HOT again!
Going to watch the DVD 21 tonight.
LAZ....How much longer until Friday?
PHISH...Happy Anniversary. Call me the next time you are at the Crosswoods area.

Happy Aniv. PHISH. Many more. Wife put Lucy in bed with her. She ran around and was biting wife. Guess who had to put her in her kennel? Why, because she is sad and whines and Mommy can't do it. Was watching western on TCM. Got interrupted with "dog chore".
Good Lord answered prayers today. T'storm came through and gave us a 1/2 inch of rain. Was getting ready to pull out the hose and hook up to the soakers. Thank you Lord. Everything is refreshed.
Hope to spend very little time on Town tomorrow. [watch out and see what comes up]
Good night all. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.
PS: where is Dennis??? Did he get over come by his own medicine?
Chief......haven't had to housetrain a puppy for 3 years, think we only had 3-4 "accidents" with this one, and it was our fault for not staying with the schedule. Dennis may still be laying on a beach on the NJ Shore, recharging the batteries with the family.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It's a sunny 72 degrees. Going up to 85 today, with a slight chance of rain later.
Today is another busy day. I need to finish mowing. Front and hill. This will take about 2 hours. Then, the usual chores around the house. No train time today. Maybe tomorrow.
Dining car was here and we had breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Thanks for all the Birthday wishes, sure am glad didn't get the picture from the other side, that outfit wasn't very comfortable! And rode really high!!
After the morning incident and the laughter died down. I Had a fantastic day! My 19 year old took me out to play some golf, (Chris) just the two of us. Had some lunch in the club house and did a lot of talking. We had a WONDERFUL time!! My wife insisted that I not go into the office, so she ran it alone. We then went for dinner and walked through a street fair in the evening. (I was Dressed appropriately). Then we had a nice evening at home. Did go by Arnie's (LHS), after the golf game, didn't have anything that couldn't live without. They did have a huge collection of train VHS tapes on sale for $2 each, picked up a few of those.
I have since found out that everyone was in on that yesterday, so it just means that noone is "safe" in the future. What is really ironic, is that just a day or two ago I put that thread up about Liv'ng up the Forum. Can't believe it. What is really great is the friendship that the forum generates, and all the good fun.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE WISHES, HOPE EVERYONE GOT A CHUCKLE OR TWO, CHIEF DID A GOOD JOB! I'VE TRAINED HIM WELL.
Don

DougM......like Sir James, I don't water (or only water judiciously) the lawn in the summer and let the front and sides go dormant, turning a nice light golden color. With the two dogs, I have to be somewhat more aggressive in the rear with fertilizers, weed killers, and water, or I wind up with a muddy field that we have to live with throughout the Fall, Winter, and early Spring. Picture cleaning eight paws every time you let the dogs out and back in so the house interior does not get trashed daily with dirt and mud. Not fun.
The natural dormancy approach with the front and sides would work out fine except my neighbors take the opposite approach and, with their irrigation systems, water quite a lot to keep the lawns really green and growing. My lawn sticks out like a sore thumb. The week before last my wife suggested I paint the front and side lawns green after seeing it done on one of those "How to sell your house fast" shows.
Brent......celebrate with chocolate at Hershey!. Works for my wife. BTW, I read a piece on the post hibernation habits of grizzly bears and it helped me better understand my wife's usual morning demeanor. And I learned something.....don't poke the bear.
