EVENING ALL
RT-your saying that you have to pay sales tax on a truck you already own. thats crazy. I understand transfer and license fees but sales tax? Oh we had a beautiful 81 today, kept the windows open till early afternoon. Finished OGR, no CTT has showed up yet. Fussed with the trains for awhile but spent a lot of today outside. The garden tomatoes are good, got some real big ones, would cover a sandwich with one slice. won't eat store bought so for me they are a summer treat. Ok Brutus fire up the thing, I got banilla...S.J.
EDIT I just reread RTs post and its a personal property tax,its still sucks

Good evening everyone. Had a good day. After spending most of the night working, including the attempt at saving a young gang banger who took one to the chest....sad. Today, I had a little bit of paperwork to handle, make sure the temp guy is going to work out, and then went and bought a new Odyssey. It is very nice, and wife loves it. It is officially HER vehicle as it seems a little hard to take....me in a minivan. "Married Man, Married Man, gets around in a mini-van", Oh well.
Final packing is taking place and we head up to Hotlanta after work tomorrow morning. Then, we head off to NJ. I will most likely not have internet access while up there, so I hope that everyone has a good week and I will check in with Y'all next weekend. Just hope my CTT arrives prior to leaving tomorrow.
God Bless,
Dennis

Buckeye, that means he has to remove the blacktop and install. I was trying to give him a less expensive route. Most folks are not as RICH as you. Especially me when I have two houses to keep up.
Well, back from the big steak house meal [free] at the Greater Raleigh Chamber Partners Dinner. Had to stand up and take bows.
Got TV interview tomorrow as Rosyville is now the fastest growing town in NC.
Bed time. Good night and sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite.

Good luck Doug and Greg, sounds expensive alright... Been busy busy busy and so glad it's almost Friday! Of course, I'm signed up to work on Saturday, but that's another day, right?
Couldn't mow again as it rained here all day - knee says "yay". It's getting better and I'm using it more and more too. Well wishes and prayers for all those who are sick or otherwise have problems. Doug already flew the TARDIS back to my house, so will be up to pick you all up in just a little bit. Talk at ya later, guys! PS - Old Mills are in the fridge, Laz!
PPS - DougDG - Wallace and Gromit Rule! What platform?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Mornin, ya'll,
Jim/Brutus....I've been standing out in the rain with the dogs waiting for you and Tardis, but you were a no show.
Been reading the Forum when I can but no time to post. MIL visit, day 5. Had her busy "detailing" the dining room today....why didn't I think of that Monday? Why didn't you guys think of that last week?
We've also been getting hammered by the weather, raining every day since Saturday with 4 inches in just the last 36 hours alone. I've got about 50 folks coming Saturday for Granddaughter's 5th birthday cookout (not my idea) and I can't even cut the grass. With the current rain and the forecat, wife is nervous. Same with daughter and SIL while thinking about renting a tent. I will never understand why we can't be like sane people and have a modest get-together. It's not like she's getting married or something. I can just picture what the inside of the house will look like post party with the mob moving indoors due to rain. Do gas grills function under water?
Like Fife, I started taking on water, but in the attached garage. Went outside and put an extender on a downspout to run the roof water away from the garage foundation, no big deal, we'll see how that works. Tornadoes which are uncommon in New England touched down yeterday and today in MA. about 65 miles South/Southwest of me, and in NH. about 75 miles North/Northwest of me. 100 homes in NH damaged.
Chief.....congrats on the lakefront property. When we have the get together at your place, do we bring our own guns, fishing gear, trains, and toilet paper? Or do you supply that stuff? Is it BYOG......bring your own gas for the boat? And what is the limit on varmint?
MikeC.....now that soccer is over, whatever are you going to do to punish your body?
DougM....are you taking photos and video of son's freshman year football escapades yet? Glad the van went south now instead of out on the road in the middle of somewhere a couple of weeks back. How bad can an accesory belt be? Better than a camshaft belt.
GregM.....check engine light. That always seems to mean "poke and hope" to some mechanics. Hope yours is good.
Brent....re the exit interview, make it all about the opportunity. The folks you leave behind will neither appreciate the truth nor do anything about it, for whatever reason: financial, ego, or politics. If some can't/won't take the time to read when their ball carrier is about to leave.....get my drift? Great experience/trial-by-fire and a Masters to boot from that place. It's "yahoo!" Onward and upward. Suzie-Q and Pam must be cut from the same Napa mold.
SirJames.....RT and I live in some pretty progressive states. RT has his auto personal property tax while mine is called an excise tax. That is where you pay every year on some fabricated depreciated value of your car for the privilege of just owning a car, one you already paid sales tax on when you purchased it. Money goes to my local town to fund road and bridge repair/maintenance, which is why our roads are in such a good state of repair (NOT!). Don't get me started on the color of asphalt roads again.
Dennis.....it's good to take a blow. Hope you escape the phones and the pc for a while on your vacation and recharge the battery with the family. Might be a good start to tell them who you are and why you are all doing this.
Rich.....we used to drag race our trains back when I was a yute, and the heavy hauler F3s couldn't hold a candle to the Alcos.
Time to go check the bilge pumps and batten down the hatches for the night.
Jack

Fife - hope the river has stopped flowing past the layout. Nothing worse than a damp basement. Oh yeah there is... no basement at all, which is what I've got.
88- Congrats on the new job.
Chief - Congrats on the house at Kerr Lake
Have a great day.

Mornin' boys, and a beau-u-utiful one at that here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Will definitely get some paintin' done. Had to take littlest princess to doc for swimmer's ear yesterday.
RockIsland - a few goats would make short work of that lawn...
dwiemer - Have a safe voyage, and remember to take time to stop and smell the creasote. Speaking of, if you're driving north on 95, jump off at Ashland,VA (lots of eatem ups and fuel stops, including Cracker Barrell) and drive west about a mile to Randolph Macon. The tracks there are very busy.
mitchie - Any further talks of movin' from G'berg?
88 - Have you scoped out the quickest lunchtime route from the new office to Klein's on Beaver Dam/Cockeysville...?
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 57 degrees. Going up to 85 today with sunshine.
Today is a less busy day. I am going to relax a little. Got the latest issue of CTT and I will sit in the shade and spend some time reading it. I have a few chores to do and then I will be free.
I did notice on the back cover of CTT mag, the new Platinum Club , and it is not the same. You don't have a choice of cars for signing up. Also, there is no discount available for purchases. I think I will skip joining this time. No advantage.
Well, Dining car is here and it's Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Friday. Buckeye....TGIF

Mitch: Nice looking school! Nice Video. May I ask who the Architect was?
Brutus: Beacon on Early! Stop by and pick-up the tractor and save that knee.
Wallace and Grommet on the Wii and PC. More info on Monday...nothing yet. Thanks for the tip! They are also making a game for Strong Bad. Kind of a cult inter-web-net thing under homestarrunner.com.

GOOD MORNING
Sun and going to 85 today. I have the windows open until I hear the a/c come on. 72 right now.
RI52-You know of course the house must be spotless before the mob arrives, why I will never figure out. Some day someone will figure out how much air each of us breaths and that will be taxed too. Mi. has a female governor and new taxes and higher state fees is her answer to every problem. Absolutely nothing useful has come from this woman.
As usual I have not planned my day so nothing new at the moment, just get ready for the weekend....S.J.
Morning all. Grey morning turned into beautiful day so far. Those sort of taxes are something I haven't come across yet. That's funny, Illinois seems to have the market cornered on weird and interesting ways of taxing. Got the van towed to our usual garage. Looks like a mounting bracket broke on the a/c compressor, it's wobbling shredded the belt that snapped around a bit. Somewhere coolant is leaking too, but as Jack said, it could be worse and could've happened somewhere far away. Ran Thomas and his friends last eve. Messed around with placing figures for switching and passenger work. Slowed me down a bit.

Most of the time it is either an improperly seated gas cap, or the gas cap needs to be replaced.
That is usually the problem with the Trailblazer but this is a 2000 Impala. Will try it again later today when Karen gets back home. Gas cap on TB was replaced when it became a real pain.
Replaced a faucet in the powder room today. Going to see how long it takes Karen to notice. My guess is seconds but you never know.
Saw some hot air ballons this morning. Part of the Pro Football HOF festivities. Didn't fly directly over the house this time like they have in the past. Stayed to the South.
The birds are trying to take up residence on the deck railing. Need to look into getting something to convince them that is a BAD idea. Although 9mm is probably a little much.

Good morning,
I have been working on my gas dryer again, this time the belt broke that turns the tumbler cage. Off to the parts store and then my job.
Maybe I can run my trains some this weekend.
Lee F.
Afternoon!
Another belt???? First Doug, now Lee...what's going on???? I hope these things don't travel in threes.
Just errands today....
Afternoon. TV interview over. Also working on various $$$$ for lake house and finding who will do the best deal. Don't want to do a mortgage thing. Banker calling now begging. Hot, humid and cloudy. Time for a BLT. Later.
BTW: bring your own gun to shoot your own critter for roasting. Also, gas is free for boat rides but you HAVE to catch fish for food in my freezer or pay a fee. Got my CTT but when will I get past the cover???
HI GIZ,
Nice here today. Day off from working out in morning. Going to patch roof now. We have sun room and with all that rain the other day flat roof is leaking. Going to use that fiber aluminum coating on it hope it works? Picked a collander o beans this morning and mowed neighbor ladies lawn. Was trying for a NIAGARA milk train set on ebay and reserve wasn't met. It ended at $202. Don't know if it is worth that, for 6 cars?
BUCKEYE, TGIF!
BRUTUS, thanks for the OL MILs. I needed em last nite after another terrible loss to BRO at GOLF. Boy I STINK!!!!

Been working on the legalities and etc of Lake House. Now everyone wants to loan you money with different ideas. We'll see. Going back up to meet the guy's wife and sign the contract on Sunday. Now getting excited and want it to hurry up and be ours. OH BTW: guess where I will be when York meets in Oct.? Columbia SC where RT is living. Got a boat dealers show Pro Mariner wants me to do. Fooled you. I would rather be fishing at the lake and looking at the pretty leaves on the trees. Also the big storage building where the former owner stored his boat, is big enough for a around the wall nice layout. Will take camera and take some photos Sunday afternoon.
Now to run some trains. Later.
GOOD EVENING ALL
Well I just finished looking at the new Lionel catalog from their web site and all I can think of is Yawn. Although I do like the GG1 passenger set. A while back there was a debate about putting TMCC in these PW replicas and I was against that if everything was like the original, but Lionel is going to use circuit boards in them so TMCC is not going to matter. Another nice day in the low 80s so no train time, outdoor time. Had two 99 cent coneys for supper as the month of july is slipping away and so will the 99 cent coneys. My wife is doing some house cleaning with some smelly cleaner, I guess its no good unless it smells bad. Enjoy your saturday and stay safe..S.J.
Oh,the USPS finally got to the last bundle of CTTs and mine arrived today along with the latest Atlas catalog.
Nothing on DA VISH tonite so ran trains for an hour, all is well in MILLERSBURG, PA.
Later,
Well a very good night to all of my buddies. Especially those two in Merrylands. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.
[just woke up from reclinerizing and wife is asleep on the couch]
Hi guys, just checking in for the week on the coffee pot. Still taking therapy for bursitis. Seems to be getting better. Going to TCA Western Division monthly train meet tomorrow. I might try to sell some trains at our auction or on the tables. I have two Lionel SP engines. The Daylight Atllantic and the SP 2-8-0 with vanderbuilt tender. Both are TMCC. I also have a Williams brass Daylight 4-8-4 scale engine I might part with and a Weaver E-8 A and B unit in SP Daylight colors. Lastly I have an early Williams boxed FM unit in SP Black Widow color. I would like to buy the new MTH ACL 0-6-0 if I can generate some "Mad" money.
Chief, your house on the lake sounds like it will be nice. Wish I could go fishing and help you fill that freezer.
Good night, I'll check in again later. Ray
SPMan
The hot air ballons are back again this morning. They were flying last night too. Were not close enough for good pictures then, maybe this morning they will be closer. Karen getting blood taken for tests. No problems, just keeping track at this point.
Received my Atlas Golden Spike Club car yesterday. Trying to decide if I should open the box or keep it sealed.
Need to make some coffee, Karen will be back soon.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 75 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Need to help my parents move furniture today, then it's off to the pyull for some well deserved R&R. Thinking maybe go visit with Chessie 3802 tomorrow afternoon at the B&O "yousee'em".
Blueberry - Not sure how close you've been following this, but Tony will be back in a Chevy next year, the 14 Old Spice/Office Depot car. They had a picture on NASCAR.COM, and it sure looks good. Probably DVR the race and watch it tomorrow night.
Chief - It's MARTYland not MERRYLAND.
