Evening!
Groceries today...
Made potato chips on the grill today...turned out really great! Plus Pork chops and corn.
All quiet on the train front...I ran out of fuses yesterday with the H16-44...backing the milk cars thru switches, and trying to push the same thru turns without having them coupled. DAH
I'm up for a tardis run!

A nice summer day all sun and blue sky. I did some more work on those trains, The 8142 C&O set is done and the cars and tender for the 1949 2026 are done. When work on the engine is finished I will have a second complete set from this deal. So much of this stuff was broken I did not know where to begin but a little at a time progress is being made. Geeze I cut the grass friday and it needs it again.I'll decide in the morning. Have a great tomorrow, stay safe..S.J.

That is because you are snowed in all winter.
Back from Town Board. Watched a movie and at popcorn. Now ready for bed. Did "play trains" earlier and gave the new Lionel NS scale box car a ride around the track for several minutes. That was a good buy from Choochoo. That box came at the same time the one from CA. Have good one and sleep tight.

Evening All !!
Finally recovering from the weekend, and the show too. Did pick up some recordable DVD's, been trying for a couple of week to record some videos, have had significant trouble. Even thought the DVD burner had gone south. Second burner didn't work anybetter, really frustrating. Got some different media and ALL the problems went away!! So Back on target.
The NMRA is having their National Convention in Anahiem this week. They really have had a lot of activities planned all week. Just a little pricing though. The sales area is open Fri, Sat, and Sunday. I have decided to add a bypass siding to the layout and will need 1 switch to complete it. Called my switch guy and he is going to have a booth, and will bring the switch. (A left hand 11 degree switch, Ross). Need to put together a list of other things to look for.
Have to work both Sat & Sun mornings, so will get to the show Friday or Saturday afternoon.
Lots of craziness going on here regarding the Banks, and of course quite of few people over reacting. Only the people with over 100k in an account are affected, they may loose half of what they have. Possible some companies may be affected as well. Just hope it doesn't extend to other banks. Sure would like to think that it will all stabilize after the election but don't have a lot of confidence in that.
Later, need to get back to work.
Don
Chief......glad you came through with flying colors? Hope the wife wasn't there while you were under semi-conscious sedation. Would find out about those top secret train purchases stashed away in a sealed box labelled miscellaneous supplies back in the corner under your layout.

I have a file of stuff to remember when I build my next layout. This goes in the file! Now if only they invented sound deadening material you could turn on and off.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is another beautiful morning of 62 degrees. Going up to a sunny 88 today with nothing but sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I will be driving into Cambridge for groceries. Prices are still high. Gas at $3.99 a gallon. This economy is here to stay.
No train time today. And tomorrow, I will be mowing the rest of the yard. It's better to break it up into 2 days.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Cheerios.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Had a practice with "my" soccer girls. Played goalie for one side. Did not do a good job as even the fullbacks were scoring (for the non-soccer oriented, the fullbacks play defensive positions, however in my defense, the two who scored were probably some of the better players on the team). Last game of the regular season is tonight. If we win, we will not be last in the league, which will be helpful in the tourney. Wife spent most of the day checking on when scholarship money will arrive at school for Lucas. Should have a lot of the money there by the due date, but it is a stressful situation. This is a new aspect of the higher education process to us (a most appreciated one, mind you), but there are many items that have to be monitored to make sure we do not lose track of the funds. I had to leave for work an hour earlier today so that my carpool person could take her son to the Amtrak station in Indy. I do get to come home a half hour earlier than normal. I had the normal fare on the dining car this morning and I am already hungry again. Chief, glad to hear the checkup was ok. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Chief....Both Yankee and Reb gastroenterologists know grits, and they thank every person who eat them for helping put their kids through school and put food on the table.
GOOD MORNING
We have a nice hot summer day in store, around 90 for the day.
fifedog-this time of year in Mich. is usually dry and grass starts turning brown. We have had what seems like a whole heap of heavy rain and storms so this year seems different as the grass is green and Growing. Maybe I will just cut the front, its getting hot already.
No special plans for the day, a little more train repairs I guess, all these major decisions,so confussing. Later.....S.J.
Morning. Phone rang at 7:30. Lady about watershed and waterlines. Why can't I get some slepp??? Cooking breakfast this late as beeen on the phone about that [Town business]. The word of the day is GRASS [now Rock, that funny stuff you smoke but the kind you mow] and more GRASS.
Rock, all I can say about you is, you are a funny guy. A plate of grits is waiting when ever you come South.
Better get moving. Grass to mow and "crops" to spray. Have a good one.

I promise to eat them if they've got the redeye gravy on them, your wife's recipe, and they are not served with varmint
Afternoon/Evenin' All,
What a day at the museum yesterday. I do believe that most folks are staying local for summer vacation, almost as busy as a "Free Tuesday". Did really enjoy the NMRA folks who came by the "Toy Train Gallery" for a visit. Lots of smiles from the "modeling folks" even with all the smoke, whistles/horns and operating accessories.
Spent part of the morning putzing around with my K-Line mikado tender, got the shell nicely isolated from the chassis in hopes of using it as the TMCC antennae. Unfortunately the clearances are to tight so the shell won't properly go back on the chassis.
Chief, Glad to hear that you passed () your test.
Later All.............

HELLO to ALL
Hot today 91,storms are lurking about. One missed us another over by Kurt may come this way. I did cut the front grass, decided the way it keeps growing I would drop the blade a notch. I usually cut higher during the hot weather but the rain has kept it growing. Did a little more on my repairs and things are looking good. Not much else going on so I will grab some banilla and wait by the freezer. Brutus, fire away.....S.J.
Banilla - I'm on the way! Come on Chewy!
Cooked ribs [PORK] on the grill. Also cooked fresh squash with oinons, cabbage and cut up some tomatoes. Wife came home and fixed sliced cucumbers with vinegar, chopped oinions and green peppers. I had invited MIL and FIL to come. We pigged out. Took them for their first "tour" of the pond and surrounding land. Fed fish and deer while we were there. They requested a tour of all the Rosyville subdivisions as we are the fastest growing town in NC. They were amazed. Then came home and picked over a 5 gallon bucket full of cucumbers, 1/2 bucket of tomatoes and full bucket of squash. Had some cantalopes ready too.
Leaving for blood test early tomorrow AM. Then grab a bite on the way to the Toyota dealership to service the 4 Runner.
Oh, had room for a bag of popcorn and a movie.
Good night.
Good mornin, ya'll,
Got my electric bill for the 31 days ending July 8. The hot and muggies hit earlier than normal this year, so we have used the a/c more. Got hammered with KWH usage up 26% over same period prior year and the basic service cost per KWH up 10.3%. Forecast in the 90's for the next 2 days, and MIL arrives for a visit, so I guess my "we have to cut back" speech will be delayed for a while. The State of Ma. has estimated that it will take $5,000 to heat the "average" house this coming winter. You guys down South don't know what you are missing with the winter heating costs. Guess that means between price increases for electric, gas, heating, and food, I'll be pushing off retirement until I'm 85. Sorry for the exaggeration, I'm sure the gas and heating costs will come down shortly.
SirJames......I'd keep that mower blade at 3+" and take advantage of the green as long as you can. Total rainfall here has been zippo as of late. The lawn has gone dormant and is browning fast. Comparatively, my lawn looks terrible. Neighbors watering their lawns like crazy, before an outdoor watering ban is announced. But they are still shaving their lawns. Guess they don't mind the quarterly $500 water bills. When I lived in Chicago proper, we didn't even have a residential water meter, got charged flat rate for water and sewer regardless of how much water we used.
Jim/SP.....continued prayers for your daughter and SIL.
Chief.....bet between the purgatives, fasting, and slight dehydration before your Doc visit, you lost 20 pounds and your pants are falling off. Get suspenders.
Laz.....since the last forsythia is history, what will you be digging up next?
DougM....remember that Illinois pilot electric plan I told you about (demand meter vs. flat rate)? My FIL lives in Kane County, so you know what the temperatures and humidity have been like. He called to inform that the plan is working out great for him. He has some hours between midnight and 5 am when the electric is actually free. He has the a/c (programmable thermostat) cranking the temps down to 66 degrees before 5am, dries clothes starting at midnight (electric), dishwasher set for 2 am start, basement dehumidifier (on timer) set for midnight to 5 am. His last monthly bill was $34 for a 3 bedroom home. When he suggested MIL cook the next day's dinner, vacuum, and do the ironing at 2am, he met a little resistance.
DougDG.....you get more train running time in than 10 of us put together, Sounds like fun, and something different every day.
Jim/Brutus....what's the local skinny on the Anheiser Busch acquisition by a European concern?
JohnBakeer.....what kind of car that you drive gets 52 mpg? There are only 1 or 2 of those in these parts.
SteveSP.....good to be hearing from you again. Thought you got reassigned to Rosyville.
MikeC....soccer season is over. Now what? The Y will seem like the gulag.
Don.....DVD burners have been the bain of my existence. Mine are down yet again.
Brent....you're kind of quiet. Actually doing some work work? Don't burn yourself out.
Later guys,
Jack,
I drive the small [relatively] Honda Jazz 1.4 litre, petrol/gas consumption varies between 45mpg and 58mpg=average 52mpg.
When I was a Sprog, I asked the company rep. how fast his car would go?-reply "John lad, I don't know, I have no desire to be the fastest man on the road, just the oldest". That has stuck with me all my life. I have always looked upon economical and safe driving as my mantra.
What size is your averagr house? $5,000.00 to heat, it must be the size of Jumbos hanger? My fuel bill electricity and gas is about $1,000.00 for the year.
Water and sewage [metered] $350.00 a year.
AB has been acquired by Belgian Brewer Inter-Bev. Sorry to say US beer is generally regarded this side of the pond as 'fizzy crap'. It may improve now the Europeans are in charge.
John Baker
Morning!
AB bought out??? The beer won't change..too popular.
Sir James: Still here....storms missed us South. Probably a boomerang effect from the tardis wake.
Improving the Railroad library here...Ordered the Cyclopedia of Steam Locomotives, from Kalambach, excellent book, if you're into nuts and bolts, also purchased The American Railroad Freight car, by White. Haven't found any new trains....yet. Planning to try my hand at scratch building a few cars.
