Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 56 degrees. Going up to 85 today, with a slight chance of rain later.
Today is a busy day. I have to drive to Cambridge for the shopping. Gas , here is at $3.99 a gallon. It has been about 15 cents cheaper, in Cambridge, lately. One thing for sure.....the price isn't going down.
No time for trains today.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Sunny & cool here in the Green Mountain region. Packin' up for our 45 min trek to Burlington and Lake Champlain. Yesterday, we hiked the intermediate nordic trail. Now, let me back up a little. Fifey's-wifey, whose only experience in hiking is walking around the handbag racks at the Wally-Mart (which she does vigorously though), wanted to get the full experience. I suggested we stick to the road,buuuuuttttt... Good thing she has been doing tai-bo, or I would have had to shoot up a flare. After she spent a good two hours complaining and screaming at the insects, she quipped about not seeing any woodland creatures... Then we got back to the gift shop, juuuuust in time for not 1 but 2 busloads of Japanese tourists to unload.
RockIsland - my Chevy doesn't stop unless renal failure is imminent.
rt - the Von Trappe story and The Sound of Music parallel each other, and Maria (died in '87) was rather pleased with the 1960 movie. If you're a big fan of the musical, learning about the real life and lives of the family is kinda fun. The family never received a penny from the movie.
dwiemer - to stay in a climate that is snow for half a year is nuts. But Vermont is definitely a mecca of sorts for Health Conscious folks. And there is nothing but Antique shops for as far as the eye can see.
Buckeye -
Weiner snitzel, y'all.
Hi GIZ,
Well its 57 and nice here today. Ran a nice 3.50 miles this morning just perfect day to get out and run. Really enjoyed it. Today go down to Harrisburg and cash in all them beer cans that I and my brother have saved up since last year. Whole pickup truck. Then going to see Raiders of the lost ark, the new version, then off to Chineese buffet.
JIM and JACK and others I go to get stitches out this morning at 10 AM. CHIEFs PIC tatooed on my back? That would be like having a monkey on my back.
All have a good one,

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. I practiced with "my" soccer girls last night. Most of the time I just participate in the scrimmages, but sometimes I do the drills with them. Last night we did some "one-on-ones" with a keeper. That was fun, but my legs ached afterwards. Ground was too hard. Some rain may come today, but I hope we can get our game in tonight. My wife and I watched a little bit of "America's Got Talent". There were some good acts on there. Sounds like Fifedog is having a good time at the convention. I may have to have some one send the Tardis my way some time. Sounds like some good adventures are had by all. I bran muffins on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
GOOD MORNING
Sun and low 80s today, really nice out right now. I'm having a problem with lower back pain, not new, a regular feature for me. But anyway I was having a nice e-mail chat with Brutus last nite but had to stop and go to bed, could not sit any longer. Maybe from the walks I've been taking, trying to lose five pounds I was given over the winter. I gasp even cut down on the ice cream smaller amount less often. Oh well a new day, I'm still going to try a short walk. Storms forecast but maybe I can get some train time in.
Enjoy your Wednesday and remember that June is almost gone already........S.J.

Mornin' Dudes & Dudettes.
Buckeye, I thought that was the "New Roseyville Hilton" and the mayor was entitled to the "penthouse" for his office.
Fife, When you mentioned "antiques" I assumed you were talking about most of us on the Coffee Pot.
Sir J, Sometimes I don't know which is worse:
1. Doing the excercises and aggravating the &%#$ out of the arthritis or
2. Not doing the excercises and having arthritis and an aching back.
Kinda like a "Catch 22".
Is it me or does it still seem like a majority E-Bay bidding has been absolutely crazy ?

Good morning y'all.
There's a break in the action with the weather today in Taxachussetts = no rain. So the directive from the better half is to mow the lawn and clean up the dog debris so we can set up the kiddie swimming pool this weekend for the granddaughter.
You know the type of pool: inflatable above ground 15' in diameter and 30" deep that, after the time, expense, labor, and then the weekly maintenance, gets used briefly about 6 times over the entire summer. Then the Fall dismantling and storage process. It goes from last week's "Grampy, where's the pool?" to "Grampy, I don't want to go in the pool today because it's (select one or more: too hot, too cloudy, too cold, too windy, I'm busy, the barometric pressure is off, I don't want to go in alone). Same routine, different year. Sir James, I know you feel my pain.
Oh yeah, 10 bridge and road toll collectors in Boston have been placed on paid leave following an investigation that uncovered a skimming scam that so far goes back at least 5 months, is expected to uncover far more as the investigation continues. Sure am glad the pols and hacks in charge eliminated the tolls as promised after the bonds were paid off 20 years ago. Oh, I forgot, they didn't eliminate the tolls, doubled in just the past year alone, to pay for: languishing highway and bridge infrastructure improvements/maintenance which will cost an estimated unfunded $20-25 billion (after the additional state gasoline taxes and existing tolls didn't do the trick). Let's not forget the alleged "final" $2 billion deficit in the Big Dig construction costs, and the daily cost to keep the new state of the art tunnels from flooding and the tunnel ceilings from continuing to flatten cars like pancakes.
Cheapest gas prices around here for 87 dropped a nickel to $3.98 this week, proving conclusively that the Government's decisive action to relieve our price pain and supply issues is working. Take that, OPEC! Luckily, half the gas futures speculators are big banks, insurance companies, and retirement investment concerns.
Re the disdain on this Forum for music while the July 4 fireworks shows are being conducted..... those of us older, hearing and eyesight-challenged folks ask, "What music, what fireworks?"
And UK JohnB, I listen to the BBC every night to find out the important stuff going on in the world because our USA media is crammed with nonstop Brittany Spears-type escapades, presidential election political mudslinging and misinformation, and useless UFO drivel. We even have to watch the weather forecast on TV for 5-10 minutes before we are told what the weather will be.
Sir James.....stretching the back muscles before and after those walks might help. A new, firmer mattress too? Hope you are feeling better. Cranky backs can be downright debilitating. Brutus driving Tardis while intoxicated on Root Beer = whiplash.
Buckeye....I hate to tell you this, but those photos you posted are of the Roseyville Town Hall AFTER expansion and renovation, but I don't see the outhouse.
Chuck....whatever happened to your dead house a/c unit?
Chief....looking out for your elderly neighbor is more than a nice gesture. It encourages the rest of us to do the same. I have an elderly neighbor who is a cranky and cynical sort who, for some unknown reason, hates me, verified by other neighbors, won't even say hello or look in my direction. So just to get his blood boiling, I snowblow his driveway and around the fire hydrant in front of his house. My wife thinks I'm a sick masochist. I think I'm a sick sadist.
Jim/Brutus....where do you hide your layout while all this construction is going on? If Kurt brings his Grandma's infamous Ouzo on the next Tardis, I expect a full review of the quality, taste, and octane rating.
DougM.....are those bugs your wife detests earwigs? Look like giant cockroaches. They thrive indoors.
RT.....isn't it great to think back over the obstacles of the last year and have the luxury of worrying about ironing out some employee benefits details/snafus? It's nice to "hear" the sarcasm in your written words versus the worry of a few short months ago.
DougDG.....can't wait to hear what your next electricity tallies for the last month to run the a/c in 100+ degrees over an extended period of time. California may be stunningly beautiful, but I don't think I would enjoy the heat, floods, smog, droughts, high winds, mudslides, earthquakes, cost of living, high(est?) gas prices, windstorms, and fires. I'll take my snow, winters, taxes and "fees", cost of living, graft and corruption, and potholes....and then thank the Lord for snowblowers.
Good hearing from you while your on vacation, Fife. We must be very important people. Re wives and shopping, my wife isn't addicted to it like others. Regarding your claim that you don't stop driving until passenger renal failure is imminent, in my car the complaining would rival the fireworks with the annoying music issue. The pain of renal failure would be preferable.
Laz....glad to hear you are getting the stitches out today. A tatoo of Chief to cover the scar would be more like a 900 pound gorilla in heat than a monkey on your back.
Later ya'll,
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Afternoon all. Did faucet repair at tub/shower in downstairs bath this AM. Then went to Dr. Back from Dr [added another med that I have to take with water and applesause???]. Went by Town Hall and sent strong email to Raleigh's Mayor about their contractor's performance on istalling a larger water line. Rock, just got word from my buddy at Pro Mariner that she is being layed off due to down turn in business. Fine lady [divorced Mom of one] who has been more a scheduler and office manager as well as doing events like I do. Got any jobs in your area as she lives in Manchester NH?
Saw a NC license plate in Rolesville that read "BUCKEYE6". Also had some Ohizo State University thing in the back window. Guess all the Ohizo people are moving to good old NC and the groundhogs are rushing down too.
Off to Chinese buffet for dinner. Not doing any outside work today!!!!

Evening all.
rock Island yes it is great everything is finnally coming together down deep I knew I would make it work somehow as you can ask the misses I kept telling her it was going to happen one way or another lol.
Anyway I have just been laying around today taking it easy did do some eran running withthhe wifey.
Gas here is $3.77 to $3.85 a gallon.
Filled truck up today $70.00 and that was only for 18.5 gallons
Well I'll be waiting for the tarus to come by and pick me up looking forwars for some of that p-con icecream.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne
http://rtssite.shutterfly.com/
RT - on the way! That P-con icecream was good! Yummy butter pecan! Ouzo - I've never tasted it, but it smells like licorice, right? Had a good time last night buzzing those 4-wheelers behind Chief's house, woooohoooo!
Jack - cover what? So far, I just wipe off the track and dust stuff, but this has been really low impact. Once I get to taping and sanding, I'll have to take care of that though. I'll probably put them away in their tubs and stuff then.
PS - RT, hope they get/got your stuff fixed at work. Yeah, they are well known to screw things up like that.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening All
Well for us on the east coast the day is coming to an end. We had a temp of 79 today and a two hour rain this evening. Ohio got some nasty storms though. Not a great day for me, back still hurting this morning and around noon time got a migraine, took an Advil and a nap, felt better after that. Instead of a walk I rode the exercise bike this morning and a short walk before the rain came this eve. So neither affliction is new just uncomfortable and much prefered to some of our forum friends problems.
Brutus RT and others are waiting for you so fire that thingy up and lets go...J.T.
Evening all!
Busy day today and still stuff to do at home so just checking in. Off on vacation to Tennessee next week for our traditional 4th gathering. Big party Sun and hear there may be upwards of 150 folks. It will be fun!
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Night all. Watched Bourne Ultimatium on DVD. Loved the moive and for got I had the whole series. Still say there will be another one some day. It will feature him and the young lady [as you saw hum swim away].
Jack, thanks for the PM.
Noticed that Shake and Bake [Don Baker] has not posted. Guess they have not fixed his phone lines. No telephone nor internet. He was home today while wife ran the shop. He was suppose to be waiting for the phone company. Called his cell and he was under the layout working on wiring. HUMMM Think I will tell the Mrs.
My Mrs. did NOT come home from beach. Having too much fun with Grandson.
Meetings tomorrow. Not bad ones but good ones.
RT called. Good to chat but was in the middle of a citizen's problem with water [Raleigh's problem but my citizen]. Might end up on TV again blasting Raleigh and its services. Sent Raleigh's Mayor email today telling him to get his contractor and employees straight or I will have them removed from Rolesville's Town Limits. You think I will not do it!!!! That will get the TV folks going. Been installing a water line and project has been drawn out months past the time to finish and still screwing off. Will not accept damages they have done to citizens' properties.
Good night all.
Received e-mail from Trainz yesterday afternoon saying 'they have solved the issue'...My H16-44 is on the way back home...If you remember it wouldn't move. The CAB-1 would work the bell, horns, and direction but no movement. e-mail just said it was on the way back, they also credited me $10, probably for my shipping expense to send the loco back to them. I hope I get some explanation about the problems with the engine. This only took 8-business days! I like their service!
Mornin' Fellas. All's quiet on the Maryland front, at least for now.Trainz is a nice outfit. Had problems with an SD-9 I won on EBay, they sent a return label, mailed it out yesterday. I hope they can fix it and don't just refund my money. We'll see. After doing some research I found that Lionel had it listed with Magnatraction, TMCC, RS4, and Odessey, yet there was not in the manual or on the box about it having Odessey. I found that strange.Still fighting with DirecTV... what a bunch of scoundrels.Stayed up and watch The Santa Clause 3 last night while waiting for the Tardis. Either I fell asleep or RT took up too much space. Heading to the Great Scale Train Show in Timmonium on Saturday. Friend needs to pickup some paint and decals... me? I'm not really looking for anything, but if I can find someone selling rock molds or foam cutters I may pick some up (only 1 foam cutter).Need to get the Mt Bike out of the shed this afternoon and see what I need to go trail riding. Some of the neighborhood kids saw me working on it a few weeks ago and stopped over to talk. They watched as I gave the bike a mid-level serving, replaced the brakes, adjusted the brake tension, adjusted the shifter tension, cleaned and lubed the crank and rear sproket. Then they wanted to go for a ride. Told them not till the spokes have been tensioned, and the tires and tubes replaced. They are stopping over tonight to watch that process. They also have assisted with replacing car brakes and changing the oil. Guess their fathers simply take their cars to JiffyLube or Mr Tire for work. Loved it when one said, 'That was easy. My Dad must be lazy or not know how to do this. I'm never paying someone to do this stuff.' I just said, 'He probably does, but wants to do other things with his time.'Haven't mentioned the train room yet because as soon as I do they'll be over every day...
Morning all. Meeting at 11 at a Church and then a lunch [Town is buying] with a very pretty young lady from Wake Med. Maybe I can talk her into an Urgent Care facility in Rosyville.
Special prayer request: We had a State Trooper shot and killed.
"All of you are aware of the young state trooper that was killed in Haywood County Tuesday. Trooper Shawn Blanton left behind a wife and son. His son, Tye, was born 7 weeks premature and has been in serious condition since his birth May 31st. Tye was placed on life support yesterday afternoon and is now very critical. The NC Highway Patrol is asking everyone they can possibly reach to please remember Shawn's son in your thoughts and prayers. If you feel led to do so, please pass this prayer request along. For the service, dedication and commitment that Shawn displayed and these folks show us every day, this I can do."
Have a great day.
IIABSDISEI with temps and humidity near 90. Chief, I was going to talk about last night's game and how my shin splints were hurting so badly, but you last post puts everything in the proper perspective. My thoughts and prayers go out to that young man's family and especially his son and wife. I cannot imagine the grief and stress she is going thru right now. It makes all our minor "aches and pains" go away in a hurry. Lucas wants to go into some kind of police work. I may show him your post (but not my wife or his girlfriend obviously). I cannot add anything further. I hope everyone has a good day.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Slept in til 620 AM today. It is rainy which we needed. I did get my 3 miler in this morning a little bit soggy but ok. I did get my stitches out took a total of 5 minutes, then took cans to recycler and had 47 lbs and got 70 cents a lb. A grand total for me was $32.90, split it with wife. BROTHER, took his down and had 105 lbs and got $73.50, he blames big number of cans on his wifes drinking problem. We then went to see the new INDIANA JONES movie, which was good a little far fetched but entertaining.
Today going to finish patio area, should take about an hour. Then rest up for GOLF against BRO. CHIEF thanks for e mail showed WIFE and she said she'll have one waiting for me tonite. Thanks again maybe I'll win tonite? Prayers for the TROOPER.
BRENT, tattoo of a train coming out of tunnel? Sounds good.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!!!!!
B GOOD or B GONE
Good Morning All
Chief-U got it
Bright sun this morning, the usual warning of storms later. Looks like an A/C day going to near 90. I have the windows open now but when I hear the A/C come on its time to close it up. I have waited all winter to enjoy summer and I don't intend to keep the house closed up until I have to. No plans for the day, so I guess I will go with whatever comes along.
Also read Lionels anouncement of reissue of some postwar items. Don't understand some talking about Tmcc and such when the letter clearly states LIKE the original. No offense to anyone but what is stated is quite clear to me. Unless I missed something others read.
I could not help but notice that when Jack ends his post the last word is hammer.LOL...S.J.
It is a sunny 74 degrees. Going up to 88 today, with sun. We had some nasty thunderstorms last night. Lots of lightening and thunder. It rained had here. Same in Columbus. This week is full of rain.
Not much going on today. I found a wet spot on the bathroom ceiling. I think the boot on the vent stack needs caulking. Rain had wind and got thru. Tired today. Not much sleep last night. I see a long nap, this afternoon in the making.
Dining car was here and headed out to " points west ". Breakfast was the usual menu.
Prayers out for the NC Trooper and Family. What a shame.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Hello all (and you too, my English friends...where ya been?)
Chief - done. Police and Firefighters, dangerous stuff (been there, done that, got the shirt)
Figured I chime in here, been a few days since I've said anything....
95 today very high humidity, possible storms (like the last 3 days). Got slaughtered at Tuesday's softball game, 12-1. Have another game tonight, different outcome, I hope. Haven't looked at the layout in a couple of days, need to clean up the room and the table, the wife has been in there...disaterous!! Like Blueberry, haven't slept well the last few nights, wife in in full employment mode now, much less money, probably annoying my subconcious. Things are very quiet at the homestead, especially since my princess is in NJ until the 8th oj July. She does keep the place jumpin'...understatement for sure.
1 more week until my long weekend. I plan to do..........NOTHING!!!! Maybe sort out the Hot Wheels and e-Bay 'em. Possibly do a railfan trip to Folkston, GA for the day...who knows.
And July 4th fireworks without the #$@@#! music would be just fine. They never get it right anyway. Star Spangled Banner during the finale is acceptable, however.
Have a great day my friends, we'll see ya later.
