Afternoon all. Had a quiet time with the family last night. Had some cake and then when the kids went to bed, bride and I started to watch "Transformers", kids woke up and watched it with us. Was a pretty good movie. Got up this morning as wife made biscuits and sausage gravy....YUM! Hung some drapes and then we are getting ready to go out for dinner.  May get some train time in this afternoon.  Found out I got a NYC car on auction from the Train-Station.  Now to find a place to store it.

Have a blessed weekend,

Dennis

Back from Miss Edna's.  Came home and wife had been trimming shrubs. Banged Head [banghead]  Driveway full of limbs and etc.  Took truck load to pond woods.  Brought back a load of rocks for her to trim flower beds. Sigh [sigh]  Now go up  and work on train car storage.  Got Fireman's Appreciation Dinner at 6:30.  Pray for rain tomorrow and maybe I will get a chance to work on RR.

Morning.  Some Yank has left the door open.  Cold and windy compared to the rest of the week.  Disapprove [V]  Don't know if I'm going to Miss Edna's today or not.  Got in the work mood and was really going good uptairs when I to stop and go to Town Hall yesterday.  Sorting everything by type and putting in those long tubs.  Then labeling the tub with labeling machine.  Then the long tubs slide under the back room layout.  Believe it works better than the slanted tracks on plywood mounted under layout. Have a good one.  Got to work on a Legacy thing someone asked me to do.  Later

Just stopped to say hi, sorry I missed you all.  Got off work, went to check in pinewood derby car but it was too tall.  Went out to eat with friends, then to mall for kids to buy some books.  Wife bought me a board game and herself some disney books for the trip planning.  Working OT tomorrow, so I'll miss the actual race - first one I missed.  Chewy and wife are already asleep, so I'll just say good night.

PS - Doug, our city went smoke free a couple years ago and it is very nice indeed!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Mitch:  Sounds like a thermostat or water pump.  Easy?  Not sure, but the thermostat part should be cheap.  I'd try that first.

Kurt

Have you checked the radiator cap as the spring may be weak in the cap. Not sure what year your car is but the newer cars can overheat from a bad timing belt. If your car is newer than 1990 take it to the shop for repair. Also low oil level  or low transmission fluid on automatic transmissions on some cars will cause them to overheat, why it  happens is simple-the cooling system is overworked because of low oil level.  Check the front radiator grill & cooling fins, sometimes trash will build up in there not allowing air to flow over the radiator fins.

Lee F.

Thanks Kurt and Lee.  Mechanic towed it and checked it.  Blown head gasket.  It's 1999 Forester with about 140K on it.  Decided to have it repaired, ie heads rebuilt and new gasket.  Hope it will hang in there for a few months until our son is off of Dad's payroll and out of grad school.  He's paying his rent and tuition, but a growing boy has to eat.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Busy week with work.  Several late nights.  Things are going well.  Tomorrow is Driver's license renewal, haircut and going out car looking.  Car looking is different than shopping. Shopping you might actually buy something.  Looking we are just going out to see what's out there.  Would love to find a low mileage late model trade that we could pick up pretty cheap, but that's not going to happen.  Most decent late models with low mileage are doggone near the price of new.  That's why we bought new when we had to replace my wife's vehicle after we totaled it about 2 years ago.  Still paying on that one.  Hate to have two car payments.

Take care,

Mitch

And a good night to you to, Sir James. Back from date night at the local 'chicken wings' bar - very odd experience dining without the clouds of cigerette smoke since Illinois went no-smoking in all restaurants and bars.

Fife is right; UP's line (former Chicago & North Western) from Janesville to Chicago near Harvard, IL. Hulcher or Herzog - can't remember which came by the 'right' some of the cars blown off the rails. One tanker was full of dry-cleaning fluid so was a haz-mat situation, but didn't leak. I was told they took the trucks off the derailed cars, then lifted the 'bodies' onto flats to move them. That is after they redo the track.

Hmmm, the photo file of my OTTS certificate has been corrupted. I wonder how that happened ;). I need a new one...

Man, can't believe how difficult it was to get the pictures of the OTTS certificates to show in my previous post.

Also, want to thank Tom for his excellent photo retouching skills.  My hair doesn't look grey at all.  LOL

NS - CSX - UP - Gobble?

Reminds me of the puzzle I used to pose to my (then) very young son. He's now 28 and floating around on a Navy destroyer...but I digress.

I asked him what would be the final result of two (or more) cannibalistic spiders eating one another at the same pace. Does anyone win?

Thanks for the words of welcome from all of you last night. It's great to be here.

Chief - I think your NS is off the hook on this one.  Did a little homework, and it appears to be UP in Poplar Grove.   BUT, since UP is probably going to gobble up your beloved....
