Everyone,
While Brent forgot to mention it, the cost of getting your name on some aspect of his layout is $100. Must fund the layout construction. Fee renewable annually. He still has an opening for anyone who wants their name on his house of ill repute, though I don't know where he will get the action figures for that.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Just caught up reading - hey, Brent, that is way cool, thanks a lot! I appreciate it, man!
They closed our building and sent us home as another wave of freezing rain is coming today, so I got home about 1 or so I guess? I hung around for a while and scraped off windows for some of the ladies at work - until my scraper broke!!! Took a while to read my emails - got one back from my trainer in Orlando, who got a kick out of some stuff I did in class the other day. Good to know I'm doing some of this right at least. That "cookbook" already showed up today!? I'll be back in a while, so ttfn!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Jack, There is a shop in the UK where you can get all kinds of cool stuff in "O" gauge, some ordinary some pretty raunchy that would be very fitting for a house of ill repute. Some of which were animated. Wish I could remember it's name.
Now as far as a pc repair shop, that would be a no brainer. Lots of short circuit sounds, smoke and lots of bleep sounds. Of course that could also double as the toy train repair shop.
Remember the Veterans. Past, present and future.

So Chief, you could say "I heard Roy through the Grapevine."
I think there's a song in there somewhere?

Fife designed it so he gets a mountain named after him because this is such a large project. Some others will find their names popping up here and there. Thought about 'Buckeye Swamp' but couldn't find any place to put it. (It would be in honor of his famous trip to Alabama) I'm thinking 'Doug Murphy's School for the Gifted' will find its way onto the layout as well, just have to find a figure of a boy pushing on the door with the word 'Pull' on it (kinda like the Far Side cartoon). Then there will be Brutus' Dog Training, Chief's Greenhouse (of course everything inside will be dead and all the grounds outside will be overrun with deer, I'm also thinking Wesleyville for one of the mountain depots, Don Baker's Electric Supply and Antque Furniture, Fullerton Depot may be the other mountain depot as well. Down in the valley I was thinking Chuck's Blueberry Stand would look pretty neat. I have a Krazy Ken's car dealer that will probably be renamed Krazy Jim's Used Cars and Auto Detailing. In town there will be a number of businesses named in horror honor of family members. Oh and the coal mine... well when there is a coal mine there is a coal town, when there is a coal town there are coal miners, where there are coal miners there are certain establishments... I'm thinking Laz's Saloon has a certain ring to it...----Mornin' Fellas.Got 1 inch of snow last night... not even worth breaking out a shovel to clean the driveway so just used a push broom, done in 10 minutes. Tonight through Saturday we get Ice, Freezing Rain, Snow, Sleet, and whatever other wintery precip they can throw at us! So it looks like I won't be at work tomorrow... snow is one thing... ice is a whole different beast! That should give me plenty of time to get the bedroom sanded, walls primed, and still have time to wire up some of the layout! Not sure I want to stop and pickup ceiling tiles again tonight, but I need 3 to tile the second level and that's only about $10.00 at Home Despot... so we'll see.Was asked yesterday if I have trains... LOL! 'Nope'. Seems the people I work with want to shoot another silent movie (they did one last year and it went over really well for advertising the Information Center) and this time they want to do a 'Damsel in Distress' movie - where the damsel gets tied up on the rails and someone saves her and they need to take some macro shots of trains... so my question would be which one of the following would you use:4-4-0 General681BerkshireMikadoYellowbelly HudsonAlleghenyI don't have many 4-4-0 era freight cars, so I was leaning toward the 681 with the PW 2400 passenger cars...

Go for it.

LAZ - No wood shop teachers in the elementary school, otherwise the job would be yours if you wanted it.
Frigid this AM - 8 degrees driving to work this AM. NOw they are calling for 1 to 3 of snow by AM and then switching over to freezing rain and as much as one third of an inch of ice. YIKES. I have had enough Snowhio and Ice for this winter. Ready for Spring.
Met today with my train buddy today who has been going to York with me for the last few years. He's stoked and ready. We went to college together and and one of our other buddies is going to join us on Friday. Should be a wild time.
Have a great day.

mitchie - any security consultant positions...?
Fifie - No security consulting positions either. Sorry. Fortunately, the worst crime we usually have is someone pilfering a pencil or appropriating someone's ice cream money. Once or twice in the last twelve years we have had a serious offense, like a knife used to assault another child or a real physical altercation that results in a serious injury.
Wes...Sorry to hear that your little train buddy, Jack is under the weather. A new F3 should cheer him up.
Brent...I would suggest for your layout, Buckeye's '02 Bourbon factory. Wes and I can get you the tank cars you need.

Brent, Sounds like you are making progress, can't wait till the 19th of April to see your progress. BTW that is less than 2 months.
Hope all the Northeasterners survive the coming bad weather. I intend to hibernate till it blows over.
Buckeye, Brent would not be allowed to run that car on his layout. Former PA boy you know.
All have a fine Friday and a great weekend, weather permitting.
lionroar88 wrote:Hey Roy! We can do that! Plus add some flashing lights and stuff, maybe some sound too... have to find someone who is good with electronics to get it all working...
Brent - gotcha covered on that one

ChiefEagles wrote:Bruce, you can sing it for us. Evening all. Back from meetings and renewing my Carry Concealed Weapons Permit.
Chief,
Hope you don't mind if I pass on making my singing debut here. I make it a habit never to sing when it's known there are Concealed Weapons in the room...even though I do an awesome CCR version.
Evenin' All.
Waitin' for a couple of deliveries, more than likely not til late next week. Bought a nice lot of k-line tanks, the old style not the uni-bodies, with the die-cast chassis. These are just heavy enuff to not have the de-railing issues with some of the run-thru switches. The other is a nice steamer, really looking forward to this one.
Don, Hope you have your quake insurance insurance up to date, between all the recent activity on the southern end of the San Andreas and that fairly sizable one in Nevada kinda makes ya wonder.

Guess its time for the Night Shift to chime in........
Brent... I am really honored with your suggestion, (not to mention the fact you even remembered that little incident). Maybe for the sake of brevity, you might consider instead of "Don Baker's Toy Shop and Antique Furniture", Baker's Furniture Follies.
Sounds like lots a people are really making progress on the layouts. Tis the Season! STILL working on my wiring, got 2 AIU's wired to terminal strips tonight. Represents over 30 wires ran and labeled. Also got initial path and hardware done for individual switch wiring. As a matter of fact I get tomorrow off to work on it. YEAH !!!
Now I have one for you, when you speak of dedication and train addiction. Went to our club layout last night, and there was hardly anyone there. One other person running trains. He has the BB and Legacy, and was having problems. I checked the wiring and noone had moved the ground wire from the TMCC to Legacy, so there were conflicting signals. Anyway, he was running the BB in TMCC and some of the Legacy features weren't working. I asked if he runs it at home, and does it respond. He said he only has a 5' straight section of track that he runs at home. Not the BB is 32" long, and only runs on a 5' section!! This same guy has some really beautiful trains! He spends a LOT of time, weathering the cars, and making unique military trains. It is very obvious he really enjoys HIS aspect of the hobby, but I would certainly try to adjust some priorities, for some operating capability.
The weather certainly looks wet for this week-end. Raining now, and suppose to continue until sometime Sunday. Saturday is going to be the worst, expecting 3 to 5 inches, the Sierras are suppose to get between 3 and 5 FEET of snow!! May certainly cause havoc with NASCAR this weekend. You guys may really be in for a lot of bad weather next week! This storm is covering the entire west coast, and there is another big tropical storm right behind it.
Doug - Are you sure those are earthquakes, or is possibly it mudslides??
Hope everyone has a great day! Latter........

Yes, he'll chime at anytime for less than a dime.
Off to 3/4 of a day Town Board retreat. Listen to bull about planning the future and then not do it as it changes all the time. Could be home working on upgrades to trains. Can't work outside. Cold rain. Had some ice in the trees earlier but gone now. Have a good one.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It's a snowy 34 degrees. We got about 4 inches of new snow last night. Now, it is a misty rain. Going up to 36 today.
Today is another busy day. I have to go out later and run a few errands. I think I will wait until they get the roads cleaned off. Our one snow truck takes a while. Maybe I'll run trains later this afternoon. Need to relax.
Dining car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning
A couple of short comments,1-no quake just a BB hitting the floor, 2- how about Bakers Bakery.
Thats it just some thoughts that rattled around. We got about one inch of snow from that mess heading east. I think its about 25 right now, and going to stay in that area today. sun is up though, maybe I can just let the snow melt. Enjoy your friday and I shall return later...S.J.

The Bronx has lots of snow.....Darn, guess I'll just have to stay in today....Wonder what I'll do..
Play with the trains?....Well, OK, if you insist.
Morning all
Kind of nasty out in Southern Ohio. Then snow turned to sleet and iced the roads. The same is predicted for tonight. I am off today and will do homework, work in the garage some and try and run trains.
The Trainarama should be delivered soon. I am anxious to see if I can work it into the layout. I'm thinking I'll need to remove the handcar track in the back. It was a straight line back and forth run, but I'd miss it. Or, add a 6" shelf on the rear of the existing layout.
I think the truck starting issue is solved. Started the truck for the first time in a week yesterday and it fired right up. I may get one of the battery tenders that Chief was talking about.
Everyone be careful out there, it is slick.
May God bless
Jim
