Sir James: Greenburgh doesn't list any train shows in Michigan this year. The Novi show is listed as the Great Train Expo, end of February. World's Greatest Hobby show doesn't come to Michigan either. Don't forget: Saline, MI show Feb 16-17.
Sad day...taking down the Christmas Layout...Need to prep for the Superbowl party! Will run trains on layout most of day.

I'll make it a quickie, 18 going to 40,sun is rising,hope it melts the snow. I am going to see the new Wal-mart this morn,built it to close only two miles away and will draw undesireables out this way. That is what happened when Kmart was there. I was glad they closed it, but this will probably be worse. Brutus enjoy your trip. Chewys resort sounds good at least I could get away from here for awhile. Sir James

Mornin' Fellas.As Fife already pointed out we had a grand ol' time runnin' trains last evening. His Cumberland Extension is incredible (should we expect anything else from a published member) and lots of fun to run trains through. As he also pointed out Ally doesn't like tight turns or turns with a lack of swing out space (this caused me some concern so when I got home last night I took her down to the train room and run her a bit to test the swing out space, a few adjustments later and she's good to go ), and I was able to get 6 10" straights that I didn't have before, so now I can do even more work... after a quick stop at the LHS this afternoon.OH... also spoke with the boss last night. I told her I have a deep desire to now add one last engine to my roster before I stop adding engines till the layout is complete... Fife will know which one... I ABSOLUTELY NEED, MUST HAVE, CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT, I'LL JUST DIE IF I DON'T GET ONE... a GP30! I've seen pictures of these beauts and the just don't do this engine justice. She asked where I could get one and I told her I would send her a link to it... so I'm hoping I'm a proud owner of a Chessie GP30 in about 2 months.Thanks again Bruce! We'll have to arrange a stop-over at my place soon.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s. Sounds like the Chief is having another "interesting" trip. Mostly spent time on the computer last night. Was playing the old Lionel train game and trying to master the few I was not able to do so in the past. Traffic was light on the way into work today. Waiting to see what Lionel will have in their new catalog. I had the usual fare on the dining car today. I hope everyone has a good day.

The day after I bought the SD40 I went to pick up my pre-order of Legacy control at another LHS. That HS had the CN dummy unit. As you can imagine though, I'd already spent enough money in 2 days...enough to get the attention of " she who swings a mean skillet". I thought it best the dummy stay where it was for now. Add to that the fact that my garage isn't heated, cuz sure as hell that's where I'd be sleeping had the dummy come home with me.

It is a cold 14 degrees. Going up to 48 today with no snow predicted.
Today, is a busy day. I have some errands to run and the usual chores around the house. No time for trains.
Looks like Chief will be moving in with Tim. Stranded in Idaho. More snow on the way, there. Probably looking for a store with Grits. Poor Tim.
Well, Dining car has arrived early. Breakfast is served. Later.

Well the perils of Chiefie continue. I was out snow blowing all day, but the wifey took a call from the Chief in my absence. Helloooo Boys....I'm BAAAAAAACK!(that would be your Independance Day reference for the week) Grayson, been layin' low, I've learned to look & talk Rebel, so I have no trouble running through the Rebel lines (Those fake buck-teeth & bib overalls really do the trick)
Been busy with the mess that was left me during my vacation...job security I guess.
Saturday was cold & rainy, spent the day at Fire/Rescue East here in J-ville. Good information and lots of new shiny FIRE TRUCKS!!!! Hooters Girls and FireFighting Female Calendar girls..a good time was had by all. Spent Saturday night in the train room redid the layout (3rd time, set up some of the buildings and the trolley. Looks ok..I guess. Took apart Dad's 1666, needs an E-Unit, one's coming from Snohzo...Wife is ill, spent the rest of Sunday wiff her, found out another LHS is going bub bye. Mostly HO & R/C cars & boats, good guy, had bought some stuff from him, my son, bought his R/C stuff there. Told my son his Chrsitmas was 50% off from last year.
Probably going to Bud Shoot out in a couple of weeks, GO DODGE!!

Waiting for laundry to finish - should have enough clothes packed, but might have to have some pants cleaned while I'm in Orlando, we'll see how it goes. Everything is a hassle today. Started laundry, then wife wanted to back up her laptop to the desktop so I started it - well, my security suite had a malfunction and I finally figured out that it stores some stuff in a cookie and last time I was on the desktop I told it to clear all cookies. Had to reinstall and then run it. This took about 1.5 hours total, although I could read a book while it was going. Then had to return a computer mouse to Best Buy before the time limit ran out. Picked up a couple dvds to watch on my trip, then went out to eat with friends.
Dennis, I've got your phone number on the computer and I'll call Tuesday after work and leave a message with my room number and stuff. I already gave you my cell phone number. Hope we can hook up at least for a little while and talk about trains and stuff!
Sir James, Chewy will be at a doggy resort (I call it) for a couple days, so we'll have to make a big raid on your provisions tonight!

Well,had a good train day. Brent/88 came over, ran trains for 2 1/2 hours with PILE-UPS! Never fails, company comes over and WHAM! Actually, 88's pride and joy Alleghany caused major havoc on the Keystone Viaduct (too much overhang). Time flew, as well as the Yeungling. Oh well, been tweakin' the track ever since he left.
Pa. john ,we do get these winters now and then just pesky snows that leave an inch or two,we had one 5/6 inch snow and the temps are bounceing all over the place.mon and tues 40s,wed. 20 for the high.crazy. Not much happening here. Went to movies last night and saw the new movie Juno, touching story. Went to church then installed Sirius Sportster into new car. It was a fairly easy install hiding the antenna wire under the trim work and out receiver into console next to auxiliary stereo input and 12 votl outlet. Don't necessarily like lifting the lid on the console to change the satellite readio channel. Sirius is supposed to ship an adapter soon that shouldallow connection into main Toyota radio display. It is not cheap ($60) but it will allow control of satellite radio from main radio display.
Took a little snooze and then had dinner. Crazy week coming up with late nights every night but Friday. This too shall pass.

Roger, Good planning on your part. She will think it is fun for a few years if you are lucky.
Sir James, Same thing around here, same people with the same goods. The Greenberg show I went to in January was much smaller than last year and last year was smaller than the year before. Don't expect it to last to many more years. It doesn't sound like you are getting much more snow this winter than we are. Hope this isn't the start of a very dry year.

On the way to todays train show we saw a CSX 4 engine freight leaving the old detroit C&O yard and two CP rail sitting without a train.the rest were freight cars. Now, I bought a DT&I yellow hopper $10.00(027 size from 1970s set)and got some set size caboose parts for free. I bought this good condition caboose for parts and a seller I know wanted parts from it, soooo I took off what I wanted and sold him the rest for what I paid. Yes he knew what I paid, he made the offer. It got to 32 today and a very tiny amout of snow melted but tomorrow is 40 and that should take it down,,,,,,Sir James
Spent time with the oldest granddaughter running trains this afternoon. Having installed another signal, LQ semiphore by Z-Stuff, I was teaching her to run by the signals. We had two trains running on the freight loop, a coal train with two GP-9's and a mixed freight led by a GP-30. She did well breaking when needed. After a while she switched over to the passenger consist on loop 2, she likes stopping at the staition to let passengers on and off.
After that I cranked up the lawn mower, to keep the battery charged, hooked up the lawn cart and let her pull her sisters around the yard. I have an ulterior motive, she doesn't know it but she's in training for grass cutting this summer.
