Good morning all,
It is warm and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s, maybe 50s, but then the bottom drops out tomorrow. Went to the YMCA to do some track work, but the legs said "Forget it" after 15 minutes. I worked on taxes a little last night to get a rough estimate on the refund (if any). May turn out ok. I had the usual fare on the dining car. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Mitch,Doing just that in another thread: http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/1338751/ShowPost.aspx Had lots of fun last night working on the layout. All the ply is down now, now working on dropping power drops and then it is on to working on the transition from level 1 to level 2.Have a couple questions I'll post in other threads...RRCharlie - Erie, PA? I went to school at PSU - Behrend. Did you stop in at Train City?
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a mild 41 degrees. Light rain. Going up to 58 today, with more rain on the way.
Today is a relaxing day. Few chores to do and then I will run trains and work on the layout. Still working on my factory siding.
Buckeye...Where is Chief ?? Is he stranded in a remote, snow bound, place ?
Well, Dining car is pulling in. Breakfast is on the way. Later.
Y'all have a great Tuesday,
Chuck
Morning to All,
Stopping in for a quick cup. Not much to report here in G'burg. New car is pretty awesome. Still getting used to hybrid features.
Talk to you later,
Mitch

Morning!
Doug: Awesome club layout! I was Laughing my head off at the handcar chase...The only thing it needed was the theme music from the Lone Ranger.
Good Evening from the left coast.
Haven't posted a lot, simply due to schedule. Had a really interesting weekend !
Saturday, took a trip down to San Diego, and visted the San Diego Model Train Museum, and specifically the Kids Club at the SD 3 Railers Club. (Home club for Doug dagrump). Boy do they ever have there act together!!! Doug was one of the 3 guys supervising the activity on the primary layout. I don't know who was having the most fun, the kids or the adults. Then there were another 3 or 4 guys working with the kids on floor layouts, that the kids built. Can you believe they had to add a second session because they had so many waiting on a waiting list to be involved. It was really fun watching the expressions and actions of the kids, they were literally jumping for joy! I just hope that we could end up with a program a fraction as good as what they have developed. (BTW the club videos are excellant, s/b on SPF.)
After our return home, spent a little time playing with trains, then a lot of time reclinerizing! Sunday spent the day working on the layout. Got my bridge functioning and fitting correctly. It even opens and closes, and comes back to the same position repeatedly. Of course that did drive some other modifications in some of the track layout. And then that required repositioning of a switch. But as well that ends well.
Talked with the Chief briefly on Sunday, he was eating. He sounded pretty good, and cheerful, I think it had a lot to do with the Codine and Cloudberry Wine.
Getting tomorrow off (today), so plan on running more power drops, and more work on the Control Panel. As long as I dont come up with more engine and track testing requirements. If I get 1/2 of the stuff I thought about today, that I will do tomorrow, I will really be happy!!
Later

Just before midnight in Jacksonville. Got home from the airport at 10:30 PM tonight. Trip to Erie, PA and back was relatively uneventful. Left the house at 4:30 AM Sunday morning. Flew Jax-Atlanta-Pittsburg; drove to North Girard, now Lake City, PA, light snow all the way to North Girard; had lunch in the old New York Central station; went to a funeral for one of my "bestest" friends from high school; connected with cousins for dinner; spent the night with other cousins; drove back to Pittsburgh this morning; flew Pit-Atl-Jax. Delta airlines the flights were all early or right on time!!!!. Did see a few CSX freights in PA.
Time for bed. Trains this week mayve when I recover from all the traveling,
Mel Hazen; Jax, FL
Mel Hazen; Jax, FL Ride Amtrak. It's the only way to fly!!!
Logged on to our club's web site to check the sign-up sheet and some of the layout links have been activated, finally. So if you want to check it out follow the link I'll post here. Photos from the start in 2004 and current as well as a video shot on each of the mainlines.

I can appreciate your concern, Sir James, unfortunately, the problems you describe are not unique to Kmart or Wal-Mart. It is estimated that 80% of all criminal activity at these types of stores occurs outside in the parking lot. This is consistent with the pattern that also occurs at large shopping malls. It seems that any type of facility having a large parking lot, whether a train station with commuter parking, a college campus, or even the parking lot at your local church, can be a lure for criminals. Below are a few recent examples of criminals preying (excuse the pun) on unsuspecting people in church parking lots.

And, how can we forget the horrific gun battle that erupted inside a Colorado church last December.

I think the part of this story that amazed me the most was that the church routinely has armed security guards at each service. That's even more security than you have at Wal-mart.

Hello from Sunny Orlando, where it is dark out and an hour later than American Time back in Missouri
Can download emails, but can't reply or send using outlook, I guess Charter doesn't like me trying to send from a different IP??? Can read and stuff online though, but don't have email addresses stored in the online doohicky.
I'll call Dennis tomorrow after work, which they said would be done at 5PM. I hope they let us off early for good behavior, but it's a contract company doing the training so we'll see.
No snow in Florida, Chief!?
Sir James, Chewy should be over in a little while, so if you hear some scratching just let her in, okay?
Congrats, CSX!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
I think it is great that the Chief was able to actually experience a true winter storm. For many of us the blizzard of 1978 made us Northern Tough and not a Roseyville Wimp.

Catching up on posts to the coffee pot. Spent some time earlier tonight waiting while I had a tire checked - slow leak, got tired of farting with the compressor to pump it up every week or so. It was on my truck that doesn't get run very much. Turns out that tire had three nails in it. I was told that is too many to plug. Since tire had road hazard coverage getting a new tire at less than full price. My typical luck, they didn't have the tire in stock so left truck, will pick it up tomorrow.

So many roads, so little time.
Back from super Wal-mart not impressed, I thought maybe we could save a little on groceries, didn't happen same or more than the store we have been going to. Now for some trains. SJ
Mornin' Dudes & Dudettes.
Looks as though the rain is tapering off a bit, although we made out pretty well again. Seems that the worst of the weather went to the north of here and dumped a lot on the LA areas, now it's Arizona's turn.
The next time Mayor McChief has to venture north of the M.D. line he needs to carry a bag of instant Grits to tide him over til he gets back home, prevent withdrawal crankiness. Just cook it up in that in-room coffee maker, besides, it couldn't taste any worse than that coffee they give you to use in them.
When Don came down for the kid's event he was lucky, no speedracers or tantrums.
Later All !

I've never heard that one before. What kind of "undesirables" does Wal-Mart draw? Oh, by the way, can you pick something up for me while you're there?
Hello all
In the teens this morning but to be up in the 50's this afternoon in Sothern Ohio. Started dayshift, on lunch now, not too bad of aday so far. Had a bowl of oatmeal with bananas for lunch. Being at work will help me heal up from the gravity test, it will be two weeks tomorrow, and everything is better just still not moving too fast yet. The pulled groin muscle is the most inconvient and painful still.
Mike C. I too am approaching 1000, and never thought I would. I'm read other forums and participate, but participate more here.
Don- The rain hopfully will help with the water shortage. I read somewhere where one inch of rain can make 10 inches of snow!!!!
Not too much new on the train front. Got to go
May God bless
Jim
Good Morning (gurgle, gurgle), still raining here!
Some significant down pours yesterday, reminded me of Houston, old gauge is over 3.5", have to empty it soon. Latest forecast is for rain through Saturday! Need to get a boat!
Best news is you don't have to shovel it !! __________________ Don
