Have not ran any train today, been using my time off to go thru some old junk a lot of papers, magizines ect from 6 or 7 hobbies long past time to pare down. Sold a bunch of old sci-fi books that were collecting dust to a used book store. I kept all my starwars and startrek books and the lotr books as well. Will call around to see if there are any consignment shops that would be interested in big mens clothes, will donate them as a last resort. Also need to take inventory on aqurium stuff from when I tried to raise and breed swordtails and platies a 30 gallon tall,a 15gallon long and a 15 gallon long slate bottum/stainless frame and a 100 gallon long tank with iron stand a ton of supplies and 2 or 3 plastic wash basins never used but were going to be the grow out tank for the fry(what baby fish are called). There is a young kid who has a pet shop in the hood deals mostly in reptiles but does also stock some fish will see if he wants to buy the stuff then if he is not interested may list it on craigs list or something.

Hobbies still into Trains, Computers, dicast cars of the 40's and 50's cars(any size), DVDs and some times electronics, casting and molding.

Hey Sir James, maybe try Amazon?  Glad to hear that Laz got his speaker fixed.  Chief, pneumonia is bad news, take it easy!  88, sounds like you are really going to town - take some pics!  Doug, Hobbytown is pretty good, we have one locally and I got a member card and emails with coupons etc.  We already have dvds of Arstocats and 101 Dalmations (both versions plus sequels).

Freezing cold in St. Louis.  Got a lot of work done today and have 6 hours of OT tomorrow.  Will work Monday until about 1:30 then head to the airport.  I got an email from Dennis with his phone number there, so I'll call him Tuesday after work ends since I probably won't be at the hotel until after 9PM on Monday.

Evening All

Way to go Brent, now you are really hooked. If all else fails leave a rail gap and use tooth picks to keep the track aligned.

Well I'm cableized,tv,phone, and laptop. But other than that I ran  my homemade lionel parts NYC F3, the new Wms.GP38, and my HWX. CTT arrived today but I have not looked at it yet. No new snow but still a couple of inches on the ground, but all streets are clear and dry. Looking forward to warmer weekend expected.   Sir James

ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE!

Yep, got the two mainlines completed on the lower level tonight, and powered... so ran the Allegheny, WM Beep, and B&O A-B-B-A Sharks! ALL from the LW! What fun! Thumbs Up [tup] Now I have to call the LHS tomorrow to see if they have the plastic insulating pins so I can create the different blocks. Then I'll install more permanent power drops.  Then its on to building the power station...

Afternoon [here].  Resting up some.  Sun did help melt some streets but they will freeze right back.  See track but no trains.  Did see one go over I 90 in Spokane last night.  Could make out they were a line of enclosed car carriers.  Later

Afternoon all!

Rain diminishing and temps holding above freezing. The invasion continues but we are standng tough!

Chief - you and Mrs. Chief get well soon.

I have been sick the last 3 weeks. It is a low level cold and on/off sore throat. I have run into a dozen folks here with the same ailment. Say it is a nasty virus. One person has been fighting it for 4 weeks. Keeps coming back. That is what I am experiencing.

Chief - how did you reconnect with PETim? Tell him hi for all of us. Did he finally move into a new house? Is he closer to town now?

PWMan - sorry to hear your LHS is closing. Glad you got some deals on stuff.

Regards, Roy

wow, I have to stop falling behind on reading these posts because Im way behind only a few days later!  Well, my father and I have been continuing our rough plans for the layout.  As jim said a few days ago, this has really brought us closer together than weve been in a long time.

Today I took a trip to the LHS.  Sadly, they are closing down due to the owner passing away and the son living too far away to handle things.  Great group of guys there.  They said everything was 30% off including postwar items.  By the time I got there they only had a rocket launcher and the 356 operating station Ive been wanting to get for quite a while.  Got that and a bunch of track as well.

Get well soon Chief!  Ill try to talk my fellow yankees into taking our weather back so you can get better faster...

Glad Chief made it OK, sorry to hear about the pneumonia.  Not a good thing especially when traveling.  Say "HI" to pigseyes, miss him at the pot !

It's still raining, had to start pumping water out of the pool this morning.

Son and his girlfriend were involved in a TA last night.  In her car!  Fortunately non one was hurt, just vehicle damage.  Actually, accident was her fault, she got side swipped.  Too Bad, she's really a nice kid.

Becarefull out there and have a good day.

Thank you.

Guys,

Thank you all for the support and kind words.  I'm just happy nobody got hurt--even the troubled teen who threw his life away for a joy ride.I guess we're all destined to be victims of crime if we live long enough.  Your support has helped me take a deep breath and move on.

Have a great weekend and don't leave those cars running!

Roy,

That has worked out well here.  I've impressed upon him it is a Classic, and therefore doesn't need to prove anything to anyone.  The limited seating is an adavantage, and the gas mileage.  He enjoys the comments he receives, and likes the uniqueness.  So when he buys something else, I get it back.  Talked about that last night, and I think I convinced him after college.  Financial approach seemed the best.  ($250 car payment, $100 /mth ins, $100 gas, $200 entertainment, $650/mth requires $1000 mth income, requires $250+ weekly = 35-30 hours work = part time student.)  So far it works.

Got lot more wet clouds headed your way, they are all loaded up!

Morning all!

Chief, resisting the northern intrusion here. The Ohizo gang is huffing and puffing their best, but temps holding at 33 and raining steady here.

Dan - glad to hear about the happy ending on your car!

Don - no one has tried to steal my El Camino - but with little paint remaining no wonder. It resides at a friends house who keeps it running for me and uses it for light hauling. I am thinking of converting it into a rat rod pickup for my son.

Sir James - with the cable modem, etc., you will really enjoy the internet more.

Good Morning,

Well the cable guy just hooked my phone to their system I hope I didn't make a mistake as when the guaranted rate is up,they got me. of course at least now we have choices of who we want to use. The sun is bright but we started daylight at 6 degrees.S.S. & M. suppose to be warmer. Nothing new at the train store, except the word is Lionels production will be affected by the Mth injunction overseas. Sounds like big delays.please understand thats from word of mouth and may not be the whole story.   Enjoy your friday.,,,,,,Sir James

Morning all. Still brisk here at 0 or minus-27 with the breeze. What a day, Dan, I thought those sort of endings never happened in real life. Nice rainbow, Don. I saw my first moonbow a few months ago - it was like a negative. Weird.  That's right, Jon, now I remember your 'round-the-lakes' tour - the SS Badger is quite a beast. I've eyeballed Lambeau from a distance when on the interstate crossing over the CN (ex-WC) yard towards the UP (that's Upper Peninsula, not Union Pacific Wink [;)] )

Hobby Lobby didn't have Scenic Accents glue, so after perusing the entire store yesterday (never know what might be interesting if put to use on the layout) I stopped by HobbyTowne USA - they're redesigned and have much more O stuff. Bought my glue there - I'll be back there too.

Morning all

Cold and sunny in snowy Southern Ohio.

Jason-Glad everything “Came out” ok.

Dan- I am happy for you.  It could of been a lot worse and expensive!!  You wonder what was the kid thinking?  Responsibility for actions seems lost on some.

Chuck- You expressed Dan's situation well

Don- beautiful rainbow shot.  Bride went to DC for the right to life march earlier this week and took a picture where a rainbow's end is at the Capitol building.  A lot could be said about that!

My truck is a diesel and I keep an extra door key so when it is warming up I just lock the door and let it run.  It sounds like Don’s auto theft / recovery was an oppetunity to display stupidy.  If I were to guess, he had some buds with him and after some “bet you don’t have the #$%^, “ they got in and drove off.  It does not sound very “planned”.  Drove it on to school?  Don’t get me wrong.  I am not remotely suggesting to go easy, because a reality dose like this where what a kid thought would be a cool prank has big ramifications.  This kid should pay a big price.  The message from his outcome hopefully will be communicated to others to keep them from doing an act thinking that has not repercussions.  I think kids and some adults think life is like a video game where your actions are not resulting in real life affects.  If the outcome is turning bad well just restart the game.  In a spiritual sense God always forgives, in a civil sense, there is no reboot.  Hope this doesn’t sound like preaching.SoapBox [soapbox]

Just made some Tollehouse  Cookies.  Kitchen smells great.  Bride made up the mix yesterday and I baked them this morning.  Swing by if you are in the neighborhood, I’ll put on some fresh coffee or a glass of cold milk, the real stuff.Chef [C=:-)]

Going to work on the garage some.  No roofing to be done.  I need to cut open the door between the old and new garage and nailing down of OSB I put up in the truss webs for storage of LIGHT stuff, then wiring, but my truck is in the garage.  Real cold in the garage, went to start the kerosene heater and it is not working so, it will be chilly.  Love those insulated carharts!Cool [8D]

I won a 913 Great Northern boxcar on e bay.  It reminded me of our Glacier trip last year.  Have you noticed a few more American Flyer guys are showing up and posting.Whistling [:-^]

Going to go

May God bless

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  Dan, glad to hear the situation with your car ended well.  Don, nice picture of the rainbow as well.  Chief, hope you feel better.  Tmcc man, how is the leg doing?  I worked over last night and then did some more work at home.  I am really getting to hate these "short" weeks.  I did go to the YMCA for some quality walking time.  First "big" race of the season is this weekend with the 24 Hours of Daytona.  I had the usual fare at breakfast, but lunch time is Steak'n'Shake.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' Fellas.

Dan - Man that sucks, but glad it worked out OK. For those that need to warm their cars up in the morning I highly recommend remote starters. Back in Pittsburgh I bought one for my ex-wife and it was very nice. When I got my Malibuu it had one built in and I swore I would never have another car parked outside without one! They are worth the money... about $150.00 installed.

Don - Nice job! At least YOU got a picture of the rainbow... now it will go away. You know the saying 'See a rainbow, but don't point at it or take a picture of it or it will go away.' Nice pic though!

Doug - Have fun with the grandson today! (like we have to remind you) Wink [;)]

Fife - not that I know of, only thing we have planned on each weekend is grocery shopping and taking Susieq's Father his groceries...

Speaking of FiL... he got a call from the cemetary yesterday. They wanted to know if he wanted to come in and plan his funeral. He said, 'Not really'. Then they asked if he was planning on going to the same funeral home as Susan's Mom, or going somewhere else, 'I'm not PLANNING on going anywhere, I like my HOUSE just fine at the moment.' He hung up and called Susan and told her he should have told them 'Why don't you go out to the gravesite and fill in those holes around my plot!' He's a hoot! Then he told her, 'Before I go to a funeral home, I'm coming to your house!' She said, 'I certainly hope you are coming alive and not dead.' Laugh [(-D]

---
Got a call from the LHS yesterday, rest of the track order was in, stopped and picked it up. Tonight I have to stop at Home Despot or Lowes to check on ply... hopefully they have what I need so I can get home and get some underlayment in so I can finish test fitting track.  Trying not to buy ceiling tiles because I have about 50 2x4 tiles back in Pittsburgh that I plan to use... hopefully someone is coming down to visit soon and can stop at the rental property and pick them up... may just call Dad and see if he can go get them.

Started Networking Class on Tuesday. Glad this is an online course and all materials are electronic... 5 books!!!! Totalling $367 if purchased through B&N online... WHEW!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 25 here in the Mid-Atlantic.

danrunner - Very fortunate ending.

Brutus - Ain't no knocking on the parents door.  Knocking on the punk's forehead.Thumbs Up [tup]

A&Y - Actually a little safer leaving before sunrise.  That sun, when it first pops up, tends to slick everything up for an hour.

dbaker48 - Handsome engine you got there.

88 - Doin' anything Sunday?
