Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and frosty 30 degrees. Going up to 54 today, with a chance of rain later.

Today, I am taking it easy. Have one errand to run and then I will spend some time in the train room. Need to run those trains. I started ballasting the upper level and steel bridge. Looks pretty good. I'll take some pictures when I'm done.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Then, it's off to another stop at " points west ".  Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

It is not as cold today in SE Indiana with temps in the high 40s.  I took down the Polar Express for this year, but did run it a while before turning off operations.  I am doing some better with the cold, but still not 100%.  Really nothing else to report.  I had a little extra on the dining car from "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I picked up a MTH pensy signal bridge yesterday.  It's very nice.  I was hoping that the leds changed colors, but only change orientation (the dealer was wrong).  I can't wait to find a more perminant home for it.  Hopefully I can post a little video of it on Sunday.

Later,

Back from ordering new washer/dryer, don't see any new loco's in the near future. At least we will be getting some rebates from the local utilities that takes a little bit of the sting out of the cost.

We bought a front loaded washer and dryer last week.   Home Depot was blowing out there floor demo unit at all of the stores to make way for the new model (LG).  They also had 10% off.  That made the combo less than the price of the washer at normal prices.  We have a small utility room (only 69" wide), but I redid the cabinets and did a decent job of making the washer and dryer look built in.  When that washer spins up, it sounds like a 747 leaving the gate.  I guess it spins at 1300 RPM in the spin cycle!  Because of that, the dryer doesn't run as long, so you save money in electricity.

Mornin' fellas...

Got word from RT - as Chief says - not a good situation. I wish him the best.

Had a brain cramp on another thread... Banged Head [banghead]

Colin - prayers for your knee.  Hope they can figure out what's wrong.

Doug - Sorry about your friend's loss that does suck.

All who asked about where Susan found the train signs and the EM-1 pic... I asked her and she said she needs to check the receipt.  I got a magazine in the mail with nothing but train related stuff in it, signs, t-shirts, book, videos, lamps, pictures, etc... but I can't find it which means it was either thrown away by the cleaning lady (wonder who that is), or it is in storage in the train room - which means I can't get to it for a couple days...

Boy do I have a surprise for SPF! Wink [;)]Whistling [:-^]

Wanted to do some school work last night but Susan couldn't figure out what she wanted for dinner so we ended up at Five Guy's Burgers and Fries http://www.fiveguys.com/ best burgers and fries I've had that aren't homemade, anyway by the time we got home it was 7:30 and we watched Jeopardy! then since the National Networks are all on reruns we watched Family Guy on TBS... and I woke up at 11:30 and turned the TV off...

Morning all. Driving a van full of friends to the funeral later this morn - it's quite a ways away on the other side of Chicago. Spent $48 filling up the van - shouldn't be surprised. Sure hope our washer / dryer lasts...

54 and sunny in Jacksonville, South Georgia today. Expect to see SnOhio Saturday as I'll be on the Lake Shore Limited heading to Chi town and down to Indianapolis for a few days. Got the University of Virginia box car yesterday from Trainworld. Still waiting for Purdue, another UVA, and the Lenny Dean box car. Will have the"chore" of catching up on all the messages on the "Pot" Friday week when I get home. Thoughts and prayers for all who are ill, sore, and those who have lost close friends.

Good Morning All, (Evening to John B, and Nick)

Didn't get my 15 minutes in yesterday, spent the time watch movies with Chris and wife.  Chris had nasal surgery yesterday for a deviated septum.  A result of a childhood injury, now he can breathe out of both nostrils.  Surgery was a complete sucess, better than anticipated.  But still was rather tramatic for him, recovery supposed to take about a week.  Really can say I didn't enjoy sitting in the waiting room at the hospital.  I think I may have a situation avoidance syndrome or something.  It really bugs me to have to sit there and watch all these people coming in with variuos issues and problems.  I would rather bury my head and not know about them.  Dennis I don't know how you do it!!!  Especially with the youger ones.  My hats off to you!!  Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

Talked with the Chief last night (always a pleasure), funny when he calls and someone answers the phone, I hear Dad..... Its the good ole boy.  The accent gives him away. Wink [;)].  Glad to hear his schedule is lighting up a little, retirement is suppose to be fun, not having to contend with political issues.  Spend more time feeding the deer!!

There always seems to be so much to comment on !  And then the order to comment, important/severe first? sequence? no matter always forget anyway....

Soo...

Colin - Hope the swelling goes down, and remeber elevate, elevate, elevate, ice pack, ice pack.  No fun but better now than later.  Believe me I know, 3 or 4 ankle surgerys lost count, still a problem.  Good luck and DO AS THE DOCTOR SAYS !!

Seems like a lot of Washer & Dryer issues going on.  I'm surprised with the advancement of all the market strategies, that we aren't running around in disposable clothing, eliminating the need of laundry.  That would even solve Fife's problems. Laugh [(-D]  (Buy clothing at market, or wally world)

Sure will be glad when the weather gets back to "normal", we are supposed to have the 60-70 degrees, not you guys.  Think that will happen this weekend.  BTW that 3.0 shaker in Ohio, wouldn't even count out here as as an "incidential" event.  That's just a waker-upper, to let you know who is in charge.

Roy, Hope you get to feeling better, the weather hasn't been to great in AZ, either.  You probably havn't been able to get around sight seeing, but IF you get a chance.  Visit the train park in Scottsdale, and the Swap Meet in Mesa.  (Actually the swap meet is out near Apache Junction).  I think you missed the picture of that Texas Limo, pg 21

Best wishes for RT, hope the situation improves quickly.  Just don't give up, this too will pass!!!!

Finally, the Chief has convinced me I'm definetly not going to NC,

"Our problem is so many areas in my county that can not be hunted.  200 yds of a residence, none inside town limits [which a major portion of the county], rifle 8 feet off the ground and so on."

They must either have flying deer, or some really tall hunters!!

Talen up a lot of space here, so hope EVERYONE HAS A GREAT DAY !!

No problem Don!  Always fun to read your posts... you put so elloquently what we all (for the most part) thinking!

Prayers for a speedy recovery for Chris... BTW - I too have a problem with hospital waiting rooms.  I've been in too many and seen far too many things to ever want to go back.  I'll never forget when I was 8 or so I was in the ER waiting room with my Father (I had split my eyebrow doing something stupid), when this teenage boy comes in with his hand wrapped in a bloody towel.  When he took the towel off his hand was really messed up with cuts and all, his thumb was barely attached (I used to sit in the front row thinking I would get in faster, now I sit in the last row and read magazines)... when the nurse asked what happened he said, "I got in an arguement with my father and he put my hand through the car window."  I looked at my Dad, gave him a hug, and didn't say a word. I have forever been appreciative that my parents NEVER abused any of their kids, they were firm and disciplined us, but never took it too far.  Years later I mentioned this to my Dad and he said, 'Yes I remember it vividly. Also the hug you gave me telling me 'Thank you'.  Took all I had to keep from crying that day.'

--- Shaker in SnOhio?  Hope Buckeye made it out from under his bridge!

Not too much going on today.  I am going to work on the layout this afternoon, then out to look at another car tonight.  After 189,400 miles, my Probe is dead, and last Sunday's small explosion/fire made me sure it is time to let go.

Brent,

Family Guy is the best show on TV!  The one about Stewie last night was extremely funny.

Quick stop by.  RT, I hope all goes well for you sir.  I will keep my eyes open.  Busy here.  Just did a big case on a real sick person.  Hate that.  Anyway, hope to get some train time in this afternoon.  Also have plenty of work to do for visitors this weekend.  Got a doll house to assemble.

God Bless,

Dennis

For every one who is ill, recovering or things are not 100% of what they should be, prayers go out to you.

With all this talk about washers and dryers our microwave must have been listening in. Starting Saturday the magnatron did not come on all the time, would have to open and close the door and press start again this always seemed to work. Yesterday magnatron would shut off half way through cycle. This morning magnatron would not turn on at all when the wife was trying to heat up water for tea. So I gave it a SOFT tap, needles to say we will be shopping for a new microwave. I didnt tap it that hard but now nothing works. no fan, light, keypad and or clock. Time for trains have a great day.

$50 to $75 for a new magnatron, or a new microwave for $150...unless it's stainless steel.

Evening all,

Had some rain and high winds here. Hopfully things improving for the weekend.

Got a few more bits done on the layout. We started to paint the baseboard green and use scatter for a base layer. Little lad has helped but the pull of Xbox 360 is strong....Wink [;)].

Overhauled my Lionel clock. The one with the train that goes round the outside on the hour. Its 8 years old, although new in the box the grease on the mechanisim had dried out. A bit of light oil on the drive system has sorted it. Just don't get any oil on the friction drive part or it will slip. Its one very loud clock, glad the gamesroom is not attached to the houseBig Smile [:D]

Have a good one

Nick

Cloudy.  Only had sprinkles today.  Now they say storms tomorrow.  Sunday is cold and rainy.  Ran trains today as I did more cleaning and storing.  Get things straight, the work on scenery.  Legacy ran good.
