Tom you didn't use the right wink and hand shake gesture to keep the gremlins at bay.Anyway nice one with the GN dome
Here's one you haven't seen. A shot from 1989, bet you know where it was taken as well.
Rob
G'day!
Gremlins at work on this Thread - twice lost a Post AFTER Posting it! <grrrrrrr>
Yeah James, that building in Ottawa is a marvelous structure. Last time there was over the weekend when the new War Memorial was commemorated . . . recall thinking as I walked that area how great it must've been to travel by rail back then . . .
Anway, that book was released in 2003 . . . still available, but pricey.
Nice motive power, Rob!
Mine for this Thursday . . .
Enjoy!
Tom
Afternoon folks. James that book is a fairly new release 2002 or three it still is available through Morning Sun or stores that carry them. Lets see what's up for today.
A CP RS18 .This shot was taken in 1984 in 1987 this became RS18u ( low nose rebuild 1868 ) the last one to cycle through the rebuilding process , note the soon to be retired RS10 behind it.
Tom is that book a current release or am older one, that cover picture is great. I was in Otttawa in May viviting my daughter and stayed at the Westin Hotel, which looks down on what was the railway station. That is the first picture I have seen when it was still a station.
I have not been to the Halton County Museum for close to 20 years I think it's time for a return visit. Have not been around as much the last few days but I do look every chance I get keep them coming boys.
James
Gotta like that one Tom. that books a keeper, a must have if you don't already have it.
A shot of museum's small Witt 2894 on the mainline in front of the barn 3 complex.

Mine for this Tuesday . . .
Good Morning all: Nice picture of the VIA switcher. Also enjoyed the Vegas stopover poster as well. Go to the bar to see comments re the open car.
work safe
No Tom you don't see those very often, even less now that they don't require a lot of coach switching anymore with less transcontinentals etc. Interesting poster or magazine
Something from the bar this morning.A shot of our museum's open car 327 on it's 2002 return to Toronto for the 80th birthday of the TTC.Shot is taken on Queen street in Toronto.
Interesting SW from Rob . . . don't see those 1500s in that livery very often, eh
My Monday submission . . . .
Now Tom it's not nice to call that nice engine Bipolar Actually nice shot of one of the more interesting juice jacks . Lets see something for a Sunday.

I'm always happy to stir the pot oblige folks. Ahhh PA's gotta love em. even if they are gaudily painted in the SP Daylight scheme.
A shot from James's neck of the woods a GP at London East.
How to ruin one's day - thanx Rob! <ugh>
My one 'n only for this Saturday . . .
LOL you had to do ir didn't you, you had to show that Kool Aid thing. yuck.
I did not know that about the E's Rob, thanks, I knew there were not many. Same with their 4-8-4's only two of those but they were nice looking engines though.
A yes a couple great Sante Fe shots from Tom Our trip last year on the Ocean had a Spiderman painted F40 James CP had three E8's. They only bought them to use on their Main to Montreal Runs which they pooled power with the B&M and MEC. That way the power was the same, otherwise CP prefered the four axle passenger F's and FA's.The two E's that survived into the VIA era did get the occational run on the Canadian sometimes the Super Continental, they didn't stay on VIA vey long though as they were the only two E's in a fleet of second hand FP7's and 9's that were inherrited from CN and CP.
Another Via beastie
On one of our cross-Canada rai journeys <Toronto-Vancouver> we had an F40PH in the Kool Aid motiff - awful, simply awful. My foto is 35mm 'n I haven't digitized it - perhaps never will!
Glad to know that James is looking in over at the bar. Surely would appreciate at least a few words now 'n then. That site - and this one - has got the disappearing railroad blues. In other words - we're not long for the Forums . . . So, my point is simply enjoy it while we're here 'n consider a word or three just to let the guys know that at least one of the many "browsers" appreciates what goes on . . . thanx!
Here's one for this Friday . . .
I agree with Tom nice picture, I wonder why CP did not buy more E units? There was only an AB ser as I recall or was it AA, regardless you would have thought they could have used it on The Canadian, even when CP was trying to ditch passenger service they used to leave Toronto with 13 car trains, around four in the afternoon if memory serves. I used to live in Glencoe and the CN main to Windsor went right behind my house, as you will see when I start posting pictures, and I recall they had a VIA painted for Kool Aid, that was a bit startling.
Like the Santa Fe as well, guess I just like cab units. Also I had forgotten that W & LE had some mallets, thanks for the reminder.
I do look at the bar Tom, but have not got enough time to properly respond there the way you guys do, so I just look at the pictures.
CP rules, Rob! How 'about this
Hey Tom that's a nice one all steam pumps and business that brute is
Here's one to soothe Tom's ravaged sole after the shot of the "Green Wonder"
Two colorful submissions from Rob! You already know my feelings on those VIA F40PHs - just breaks my stone-cold-heart! <grin>
Another steamer for this day . . .

Well lets see one more for the road.
A splash of colour for everyone.
Hmmm can't complain too much about that one either Tom
Another RS18 this is a COP one that has not gone through the rebuilding process yet. This is in the Aberdeen Yard in Hamilton ( former TH&B )
Nice one from Rob!
Another steamer for this Tuesday . . .
NKP 2-8-4 #760 (from: Paul Eilenburger collection/yesteryeardepot.com)
Nice shot Tom. Too bad it's not in colour. There would have been lots of sea sick green on the trim. James, yup all the CP MLW power is gone now too,in the case of the CP RS18's they were for the most part sold to various regionals and shortlines.I had heard about CN's removalof the yard trackage, dose not bode well for the museum if they choose to sell the building as well as CN still owns it.I keep hearing that there are developers that want to do some building on those old railway lands in St Thomas.
One of the relocated CP Rs18's this ones on the Quebec Central
G'day Gents!
A steamer for this Monday . . .

Thanks Rob yes I liked that one very much indeed. CP still has a job that originates here in St. Thomas, usually rebuilt GP 9's I believe, and always two units. I had heard that the MLW's all went east and forgotten.
The yards or rather former yards here have been mostly removed by CN for high scrap prices, and the museum is virtually, but not quite landlocked, as is the Port Stanley Terminal railway. Ironically their only connection to the outside world is now the CP transfer.
More wonderfull sssteam from Tom Loved em both sir James, most of teh CN's Rs18's made it to teh zebra stripe scheme. However most were sent east in teh 70's so seeing them in Ontario was a rarity.Several were rebuilt with A1A trucks to replace the olders RSC13's and 24's CN used exclusivly in PEI and on the light branches in Nova Scotia. They were finally all retired in the late 80's with a good ten or so sold off to the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia RR .I imagione that the paint job was likely paid for by a grant at the Exporail Museum, still it's nice to see it back in it's original as delivered paint job. Here's one you should enjoy as well.
CP Rs18u's bringing a train into St Thomas Ontario approx 1986'ish
