Better for the crew comfort and safety-wise plus it looks more modern, at least to me. Color of the paint on the loco doesn't matter, much. LOL you know I'm just pimpin' ya Max!

Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
Yeah...that Krauss-Moffei (I think thats how it's spelt) engine is pretty freaking fugly, but the other one is a ALCo RS27 and they're suppose to be ugly. Most all ALCo's are ugly...thats why I like them! Someone's gotta love the ugly ducklings.

Those Alco RS27 are ugly as sin. How many did they made? Are they still in the roster?
ok a few more
Back in the late 70's EMD made a few electric locos for conrail to try out.A 6000(gm6c) hp and a 10000hp(gm10b)
UP m-10000.I'm pretty sure this was ugly by 1930's standards.

There are only 2 RS27's in remaining, and they are both operateing on the Minnesota Commerical RR in the Twin Cities. Last time I checked. Hopefully they are healthy and insulting people with their horriable looks.

That GM locomotive is something else....to me that beats everything by a land-slide.
Now I 'm a big Alco fan but these were one off's made for UP.Just think of 2 c-424's spliced togehter.More of a test bed locomotive,UP quickly realized that this locomotive design was not for them and they lasted less than 10 years in service.
Alco C-855or
The combination of a shortend nose and liftrings,it gives the appearance of a pig snout

Ugly they may be, but I still think one C855 should have been saved.
I wonder what the "pimp my ride" boys could do to the Krauss and the rs-27?
A face only a blind mother could love...
Have fun with your trains
Check this Baldwin DRS6-6-1500 slug as ugly as sin!

I don't think they could do anything. Remember that episode where they just bought the kid a new car cause it was so bad...they would probably just buy them a new locomotive because its "beyond help". lol

Woah...what is that?

What about Amtrak? Did they order any units?

Wow! What did they chopped the nose?
