I don't think this unit lasted very long. It was bought from NRE when CP was experiencing a power shortage and I think I heard it was scrapped soon after without ever getting CP paint!

I always found the C-Liners to be ugly ducklings.

Of course, on the steam side of things, camelbacks are just silly.

That's ugly as sin! Not even a color would change the shark looking style.

Can anyone beat that ugly boat...

It's not the best looking switcher, but it is a classic, and rare, locomotive from the 1950s. The SD24 with the low short hood was an unattractive locomotive, and the Santa Fe rebuilds (SD26) were just as ugly, if not worse. And believe it or not, I used to think that the GP30 was an ugly locomotive too. Not anymore though. Wink [;)]

From here to there, and back again.

It so ugly, that even the grafitti artist are embarresed to paint over them. Bow [bow]

That reminds me of the "Sweep" rebuilds that CN did in the eighties! Some people said they were the ugliest units ever built, the crews hated them for some reason, but I think their cute as a button!Wink [;)] What do you guys think!

LOL... Even grafitti artists aren't dumb enough to trespass on a U.S. military base to tag a locomotive, for fear of getting shot.

From here to there, and back again.

That's an interesting looking locomotive. What was the point of CN attaching the long hood of a GP9 to a switcher frame?

From here to there, and back again.

I believe it was simply an upgrade as they also used th GP style electrical cabinet as well as some other components. The prime mover was also upgraded from a 567 to a 645 with a slight increase in horsepower, from 1200 to 1350.Smile [:)]

I have always liked those camelbacks.  The worst looking steam locomotives are 4-4-0s that were built with short smokeboxes and later had them extended.

Your sig pic cracks me up Big Smile [:D]

My vote for ugliest loco goes to any type of engine that has ever pulled an amtrak train (minus the engines donated to by other RR's when Amtrak was first started)
