Cincinnati lost one of it's most unusual artists/sculptors today, Pat Renick. A sculptor with a wicked sense of humor, she will be truly missed.
(At UC, I had to walk by her "Stegowagenvolksasaurus" on my way to class in the late 1970's)

and then there's Triceracopter: http://www.sculpture.org/documents/scmag03/oct03/renick/ren2.jpg
and my favorite from the Big Pig Gig:

Burger (cheese?), loaded, and some fries - good stuff. Might just grab the rest of the German Chocolate cake if nobody's looking - one of my favorites, too!

Okay, everybody: I'm ready to start serving the next round of burgers, fries and salads (you can have your pick of garden or Caesar); and for dessert, I'm sharing my birthday cake (that I made and iced myself): German Chocolate, w/the coconut & pecan icing. That is my absolute favorite cake.
And, if anyone doesn't want burgers & fries, I've got some leftover meat loaf w/shelly beans and mashed taters w/gravy.
Duff, I'll be praying that you all in the northern Florida area get a good soaking rain.
Joe and Lance, as usual, you'll both find containers in the fridge, for you two to take to work tonight.

Sorry Brian, that's just where they hung out, south of us. I am in the north central part of Florida, and the storms hit St Augustine, St johns and Flagler counties, and more south of us, but all of us from Gainesvile, Lake City, Starke, keystone Heights, were wishing for the rain to get rid of that smoke cloud. It's more windy today so all the smoke is gone from our area. All the rainclouds are gathering west of us too :( and we need some rain real bad!.
Least the smoke is gone
Think I will join for burgers and fries, and a large pepsi
BURGERS AND FRIES!
WOO HOO!

Thanks for letting me use the canoe, Dan. There is some pretty significant flooding occurring around the area.
Not much happening today. The rain is over and life is pretty boring. That's probably a good thing though. Too much excitment can be bad if it's the wrong kind of excitment.

here in nw ohio if you hate the weather wait five minutes you'll hate it even more!!!
CW thanks for lunch.the yard might be dry enough now to go mow.got to do it before mookie sends more rain our way.
Okay, folks, grab yourself a table, and get ready for your lunch. I'll be cooking and serving: burgers, fries and garden salad.
Larry, glad to hear you're doing well on your training for the railway. Looks like you'll be adding more and more hats to you job descriptions!!
Someone PLEASE send some rain here to Florida! We need it BAD! We need to get rid of those fires in Georgia, and that smoke that is clouding us down here in Florida. It's making me and Sadie cough, and it's making John's eyes hurt. So again PLEASE Send some rain our way, cause we really need it bad!
Also some fries, and a salad...strange combo but that's what I am craving. Better make it quick before Sadie wakes up to be fed

Snow?
On the way to Remsen Saturday I saw some snow on a well-shaded hillside.... Temps are up, so it's not long for the world, but it was the first weekend in May...
Oh well, this is Colorado and it is still springtime...
Yawwwwwwwn. What a week. I'm running a double digit "sleep deficit." Gotta have some caffiene so I can stay awake for work, but that waterbed is very tempting. The Dalmatian would be glad to see me there so he can cuddle back in....
I now have Air Brakes signed off. Spoke with the trainmaster about when I'd be working in during the Memorial Day - July 4th time period, as I gave him a list of available days. "All of them look good....." Guess I can pretty much pick and choose what I want. Odds are I'll be the only trainman on a lot of the trips.
As an aside - those of you who have availed yourselves of Al Krug's explanation of air brake systems would have been right at home while our instructor was explaining basic air brakes. The only 'surprise' was a relay valve which is pretty much unique to passenger cars, thus wouldn't necessarily be included in Al's dissertation.
Bear Claw and first mug of orange and spice tea, please!
I see mookie in her big red boots outside splashing in the water.matt would join you be we sent him to see a farm.might even get to bail some hay.Cw thanks for the breakfast.

Good Monday morning, everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend, even if you had rain and more rain over the weekend. I want to again say "THANK YOU!" to all of you for the birthday good wishes.
Coffee is ready, along with fresh juice, and there's hot water for tea and cocoa.
Regular breakfast menu items are on the warmer bar.
Mookie, here's your coffee, in your big cup, and here's some breakfast for you!
If anyone has any requests for lunch, please let me know by about 9:45, 10:00 EDT.
Well, I think we wrung those clouds pretty dry before we sent them on.
We have great soak and run around the house, so we did and it did.
Exciting weekend in the diner. Congrats to Sarah, the birthday girl and Tree!
Now that it quit raining for awhile, I can go outside and play in the puddles. Back in time for breakfast/lunch!

Greetings from Burlington, WI!!
Back at my parents for this week, have been busy with family and friends most of the weekend, helped my dad install a new ceiling in their dining room (the new tiles have only been in the house for five years now). Also caught up with a friend of mine and his wife, she will be expecting a bundle of joy come September.
Cookout sounds great, as I'm headed over to a relative's house shortly, a cousin of mine had first communion today, small party planned. When asked if we needed to bring anything, my aunt said "just your trap guns".....
See everyone later, provided the winds don't blow us away, my mother's windmill outside is spinning quite fast. It just might take off fairly soon if the wind keeps up.......

Well, looks like I finally got to log in, so I could say:
Thank you, everyone, for your very kind birthday wishes to me!!
Your kind words touched me very deeply. It's really nice to know I've got all the good friends on here, that I do have, and you know what: you're not just friends, you're all members of my family!!
For Sunday Dinner, how about a cook-out?? I've got the grill going, and the following is just getting put on the grill: burgers, brats, hot dogs, pork chops, steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob. Other side dishes on the breakfast/warmer bar: baked beans, green beans, broccoli casserole, and cold dishes of potato salad, fruit salad, and cole slaw are also available, in the cooler. So, come fill up your plates, and go sit on the patio, and watch the trains go by the Diner.
Joe and Lance, there are containers with your names on them, in the fridge, for work tonight.
Good Sunday morning everyone.
dan you might want to send it to Brian in iowa.we are going to have east winds at 20-30 today but sunshine.
