Had a good day railfanning. Saw 17 trains plus 11 locomotives  hanging out in the Gainesville yards. Had an amazing thunder and lighthing show while watching trains, needless to say, I got some pretty cool video. I don't know how to upload it to the net or I would.

Oh boy. Sliced tomatoes. I bought 3 nice ones from street vendor in Moline. Why can't the supermarket sell ripe ones instead of those rock-hard ones? I put my tomato plants in the ground on Tuesday. Only 60 more days to wait.

Oooooh!  Good breakfast!  I need that today.  Another test (actually a series of little tests) this afternoon for my EMT refresher.  Then I've got to get a bunch of work done for our fire department anniversary next weekend.  Then a weekend off before the Adirondack starts up for the season.  Sheesh!  Then again, it is all volunteer stuff..... Good Saturday morning!  I know things will probably be slow in here today (usual for the weekends), but there is a very good breakfast on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, and on the cold side of the bar, cantaloupe & watermelon chunks, and sliced tomatoes.

Everyone have a great day railfanning, and whatever else you might have on your agenda today.  I'll start making up pizzas for tonight around 3:30, 4:00 EDT, and will have them on the warmer bar, hot out of the oven, about 6:30 EDT.

Okay, I'm back after finally getting some sleep.  I don't know why I'm having such a problem, with waking up between 12 & 1 a.m., and not being able to go back to sleep until 5 or 5:30 in the morning.  Anyway. . . .

I've got our Friday Fish Fry going.  On the fish menu today is:  cod, flounder, halibut, perch, and rainbow trout.  Side dishes are:  fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, mac & cheese.

Desserts:  homemade apple, blackberry, cherry, peach, pecan and strawberry pies.

Ia Brian, please tell Joanie and your mom "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY" from the staff of the DD/CS!!

On another note, for all of us that use USPS's "Snail Mail", as of Mon. 14 May 2007;

the price of a First Class Stamp goes to $ .41 from $ .39 so make sure you have some $ .01 or $.02 stamps to go with the $ .39 ones that you have on hand.

(wouldn't have remembered it myself, except when I went to mail a package the other

day, and saw the the reminder sign at the Post Office branch)

As expected, that is happening so I've had to ask on my homepage that everyone keep the craziness out and stay on the topic of weather. I can delete comments from the guestbook, but not from the shoutbox. I would hate to have to delete the entire shoutbox, but I'll see what happens over the next few days. It's a pity that a couple of trouble-makers can ruin things for everyone else.

Anyway though... it's nice outside and there are just 8 days of school left. Life is good.

Willy - when I first stood up the website for the ambulance service I run with I included a page for comments.  I didn't check it often - after all, it would just be a place for people to say "nice job, thanks for taking care of me."  Right?  Wrong.  I took that part down when it turned into a chatroom for who knows who.

And it's nothing too bad, but just craziness that I'd rather not have on a website that I want to look as professional as possible. You're right, a person has got to learn something new everyday!

Well, that was painful.........

Just got off the phone with the repair shop, found out I need to put in a new injection pump into my truck.  Kiss $1,900 goodbye, that little Bosch VP44 pump is expensive.  Blame it on the new fuels and additives the refiners are shipping to us(or lack thereof.....).  Will have to start using lots of fuel additive from now on.

In other news, it's 80 degrees here in Burlington, and my dad and I spent the better part of this mornig installing new signs at the county fairgrounds in Union Grove.  They look pretty sharp for a few hunks of PVC pipe and fittings, and new wood signs with routed-in letters painted to stand out.

See everyone later for dinner.......

Brian and Mookie, so glad to hear you all ARE here, and not MIA!!  (Now, all we have to do is find Joe and Dan!!)

Changing the supper menu for tonight, and also have turned on the AC in the kitchen:  I'm getting ready to start making up pizzas for tonight's supper.  The list of pizzas for tonight are:

1.  Canadian bacon
2.  Goetta
3.  Pepperoni/Sausage/mushroom
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Supreme
6.  Anchovie (in case Jay comes in for supper tonight)

They will be ready by 6 p.m. EDT, but I'll have one ready at 3 p.m. CDT for Mookie to take home with her for her and Driver's supper tonight.  I'll also make sure that a couple of large pizzas are in the fridge for Joe and Lance to take to work tonight, for their supper.
