Moo...

Depending on your aquatic abilities if you spend enough time there you could be called a catfish.

CW I'll snag a bowl of that day old beef stew.  It's gotta be good!  How about some stroganoff and garlic bread for dinner or some other pasta dish?  I had some pasta salad over the weekend and I'm craving some more!

The saga continues:

The Great Wall of Lincoln is done!

Driver opened the back door this morning to go feed the squirrels and birds, gasped and said "oh, we have a bobcat at our back door"  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Another new group of gentlemen piled two big piles of dirt in front of both garage doors, put rock all over the back yard, framed the yard, and proceeded to break the electric circuit to the garage.  So even if Millie could climb the dirt, she can't get through the closed door.

Kinda reminds me of Xmas - 6 guys a working, 5 vehicles in the drive, 4 people trying to park somewhere in the drive, 3 piles of either rock or dirt, 2 landlords and the big finale - 1 tree stump remover also in the drive.

The dork still has not come back since Monday to retrieve his stump remover.  And what will I do with it?  It doesn't go in my static display at all - (Big Boy and an SW10 switcher)

I need a quiet nap - think I will wander down to the local aquarium and take up a spot by the fish tanks...

Good Thursday morning, everyone! Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day!  Coffee is on, and on the warmer bar this morning, you will find:  turkey  bacon, sausage, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs, fried taters, apple, blueberry, oatbran and raisin muffins, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and bearclaws.

I also have hot water for tea and cocoa on, and there is also hot chocolate available this morning.

Chad, Welcome back into the Diner, very glad to have you here;

As far as JHH goes;

CW was just on the phone with him.  Other than working very hard, and a few

computer problems, he seems to be doing well.

(Duchess also!!!)

He did ask for EVERYONE to send him an email.  He had to do a recovery and restore, and lost everything in his address book and this way he will have them to put back in.

For those that don't have his email address, send us a private email, and we'll furnish his that way.

Tree - Our wall was being assembled under a cloudy and lightning filled sky on Monday nite.  I was wringing my hands watching out a 2nd story window, but they went ahead like it was a clear, sunny day.  When it started to finally rain, they gave up and called it quits.

Willy - That's why you are a favorite of mine - you are sensible.  That pleases me!

We've got some 'cricks' up this way, too, although the more genteel prefer "creeks."

We  have a huge weather moderator west of us.  The lake is generally cooler than anything else and has taken the wind out of more than a few nasty looking storms.

The last really bad summer weather we got here snuck in from Canada and never touched the lake.

Rained here today - much to the chagrin of those attempting to finish our new radio tower.  They don't take well to climbing in the rain, and doubly so if there's any chance of lightning....

Right now, we've got beautiful blue sky with a nice breeze blowing out.  Think  I'll start on some housecleaning, while the temps are comfortable.

....Right now the sun is trying to peak thru.  Cooler here today after having 90 plus in the state yesterday.  Doubt if we'll see 70 today.  One thing I'd like right now is for it to stay dry for a few hours so I can do my mowing.  Still doing it every 3 or 4 days.

But we do need a bit more rain than the 4 tenths we recieved the last 12 hrs or so.....

Dan - Not much science behind those tales. Some of them (like the ones about cities being protected against tornadoes) are from old Native American myths, etc. People thought that since they were in a river valley, etc, they were protected, but they didn't get too scientific about it.

Bob - The fact that areas right around you get a foot of snow and Spokane only gets a couple of inches most likely has to do with temperatures and moisture. I'm not very familiar with the weather in the Pacific Northwest, so I'd have to do some research to give you an exact answer.

Mookie - Yes, I know I'm sensible, but being sensible makes me who I am.

We used to have the "Pollock Pool Weather Shield" in Oshkosh.  Impending doom and storms of destruction would approach and split, usually just west or south and west of the outdoor pool I worked at.  The saying went that you could have 75 and sunny at the pool, yet West of town there'd be tornado warnings.  Seriously though I think the moderating influence is Lake Winnebago.

Hey Willy, any science behind these tales?

In all seriousness....it does seem to happen often.

Never believe those old tales/myths when it comes to tornadoes. There have been more than a few towns that thought they were safe from tornadoes only to be devastated by an F4 or F5.

...Just got curious.  So I pulled up a map of Lincoln and see you have a " Y" in your water systems running thru your fair city plus what looks like a sizable lake....
