Well, they're letting us out of work early today, so while lunch may be a little late, I'll put up some fast and easy warm-up food:

Soups (your choice - this is a virtual diner)

BLTs

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Chili (extra seasoning available on request)

Hot Chocolate

This is my "day" job (the one they pay me for).  The emergency stuff (volunteer) goes on 24/7.  Although they did cancel my EMS class tonight...

Good afternoon, folks.  I'm back home now, have to go back next Wednesday at 10, for my test results (he had them draw blood  for blood work).  Got my flu shot, and already, my left arm is very sore.  Most unusual:  I've never had any soreness from a flu shot or any other kind of shot before.

Larry, thank you for taking care of lunch today.  Think I'll take a big bowl of chili (extra spicy) and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches (didn't eat breakfast this morning).  Most appreciated!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

For supper tonight, think I'll cook some cabbage to go with Emmar's corned beef hash, and fix some mashed taters smothered in butter, and cornbread.  Anyone have any requests for desserts tonight?

Got back in about midnight from Omaha.

Never did find Willy or that weather machine. (Had to put my 16 Lb. circuit breaker with the wooden handle away until the next time)....Nice try Willy, the snow and fog in east Nebrasky slowed me down a bit this trip and they closed I-70 in Eastern Colorado (But I-76 was open!)

Where did they find those ancient busses for Omaha Transit?

Uncle Pete's new building in Omaha is impressive, to say the least.

Joe, there's a plate in the fridge for you to take to work.  Emmar,  cinnamon rolls w/raisins look pretty good for tomorrow.

Supper is on the warmer bar, and yes, there is banana pudding with graham cracker cust, and brownies for dessert tonight.

After I got posted earlier this afternoon, I decided to take a nap.  Only meant for it to be about 1/2 hour, 45 minutes.  Ended up sleeping for two hours!  Never even heard the train horns, and I usually always hear them from our bedroom window, even when it's closed this time of year.  Sad [:(]

Everyone have a good evening, and for those who work the late night shift, be extra careful out there on the roads.

I suppose the "16 Lb. circuit breaker with the wooden handle" was going to be used to torture me and the weather machine. I feel so loved. Just remember what Carl said the other day...

"Anyone who threatens to use tools on Willy will have to go through me first.  If you just listen to his forecasts instead of blaming him for them, you'll gain some intelligence--desperately needed, I must say, in some cases."

As for the busses, I think they found dug all the parts up from a dump somewhere and stuck them together to make those miserable busses. Almost nobody even rides them; I don't know why we even those the things.

Next time you feel like complaining about that 2" of snow in your driveway:

That is really cool! I wouldn't want to put up with it almost every winter like those people have to, but just one time I would like to experience that.

I just "trimmed up" my driveway from what's come down since I cleared it earlier - nothing significant, but there was a little drifting.

I also cleared a path in the back yard for the pups.  Measured 14" of snow on the flat, and what's there has settled some.  I've probably seen about 2' here, a far cry from the folks just south of here.

Willy - You can probably come up here in April and find some snow someplace...

The worst blizzard that I actually had the pleasure of surviving was in the spring of 1965 (I think).  I was a bit younger then, but I can remember that the only way in and out of the house was from a couple of the second story windows.  Yes, the snow was that deep.  Shock [:O]  It took the better part of a day just to dig down to the front door.

Hey, emmar!  I've always had an avatar.  Captain [4:-)]

I just keep changing it from time to time.  (You may remember that my previous one was a couple of dolphins at sunset).

DF - I don't know where you were at that time, but I remember it was February or March here in Lincoln and we got 21 inches.  I was a newlywed and my now ex had a broken foot (cast & all)  We had to park on the street and then shovel the car out.

We haven't had snow like that since then, either!

Well, it looks like I'm the first one in the Diner here. I've got the coffee brewing, I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice and I've put the hot chocolate out on the counter. I figure it's plenty cold out there, no matter where one goes or is living, and I would think there would be a lot of call for the hot chocolate as well as coffee.

On the menu for breakfast this morning; oatmeal, english muffins, waffles, buttermilk/blueberry pancakes, hickory smoked bacon, pork sausage links, scrambled eggs, and apple/cinnamon coffee cake.Chef [C=:-)]

In Sioux Falls, South Dakota we have a temperature of 10 degrees below 0, and the wind chill leaves us sitting at 22 below 0. It is definitely COLD here where I am living.

Man it's cold outside! brrr! *walks in, turns on the heater, and brews coffee*

I can stick around if anyone wants waffles, That is if you all want help. I have nothing better to do and I am wide awake.

I don't know if I told everyone here that I was pregnant, but Tuesday we found out that I have a baby girl. Her name is going to be Mercedes Marie, Sadie for short. So far she's coming along quite nicely.

Hope everyone stays warm, I hear its frigid in some parts of the Midwest now, with lots of wind and snow...brrrrr

CP - Thanks for breakfast.

Got to work this morning and discovered they had delayed opening two hours, so it's awfully quiet around here.  More time to sit and chat....

Snow did end last night - the challenge here is clearing all of the parking lots (it's a big 'campus').  In fact, the sun is peeking out from time to time, but it's cold - 2 below as I write this.

Hammock is occupied.  May have to take a couch...

thank you everyone, yeah she's my first, I am sure that things will work out when she gets here. I can't wait to see her!

thank god I only have two more months to go, the last seven weren't so bad so fat

 *swpies some sausage*..I'm getting hungry

I think someone did leave the back door open, Joe, cause here in FL it's cold, probably about 40 outside now. Last night it got down to 32 degrees!, Saturday night it's spuposed to drop down to 26...Better cover up the wellhead while I am thinking about it.

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Well, looks like I slept reeeeally good last night.  Just woke up about 20 minutes ago.  Guess I was still tired, from sitting at the doctor's office yesterday.

Ray, thanks a whole bunch, for putting the coffee on, making juice, and fixing breakfast.

Nightrain, what you brought in, and with what Ray fixed this morning, looks like we're set for a feast this morning.  Think I'll take a little bit of everything.  And congratulations on the  baby news!!

Mookie, maybe you and I can get together, and make something for the baby?  I need to go get some yarn, appropriate colors for a little girl!!

Does anyone have any requests for lunch today?  If so, let me know in the next little bit.

Everyone have a great day!!
