Gotta love winter.  I wish we'd get some more of that snow stuff I hear that everyone else is getting.  I guess I can survive w/o it for a while yet.

On a happier note I got a job offer on Friday of last week which I accepted.  As of 3/1 I'll go to work for the first time in 12 years without wearing a Lifeguard suit!  I'll be the Assistant Lifestyle Center Director at the Y.  A step up in money, better hours, and benefits.  First time I'll have benefits in...7 years or so.

Just a question of sanity, but why would you want snow?  I would think that all of the stories on here about the snow would keep anyone from hoping for snow.

HOLD IT!  What is this about snow??? I would like to have some down here in Louisville!! It has been bitterly cold here but, no snow. I'm a bit dissapointed, I guess I should of expectes little snow, comming from Pennsylvania. Hehehe. I'm not looking for "Cheap O Snow" I'm looking for snow that sticks. Big Smile [:D]

Well, if we don't get the snow, there's no since in it being cold anymore, so it needs to warm up. lol

Tree:  Dump on Sarah!

Had a rested weekend.  Went to watch the trains roll by on Sat and Sun.  Sun, they didn't roll so much, so we both got a nap!  This weather will make you nap!  This week will try many patience, but next weekend looks to be a little nicer.  Just be glad you aren't in Oswego CO NY.

Have a note from the Sat paper - Citizen of Lincoln models HO scale CBQ railroad.  He also named his children - Clair, Bruce and Quinn - ..............think about it.

That will require a nap.  Back for blueberry beagle, later.

Congratulations to Dan in his new job!Thumbs Up [tup] Later this morning I will begin my new job, working in the kitchen at Wendy's. It should be interesting.

This morning in Sioux Falls we have a gray, cloudy overcast sky, and the temperature here is 18 degrees ABOVE 0. That's certainly a lot better than -18 below. Much of the southeastern portion of South Dakota is under a snow advisory, and our chances of getting snow will increase as the day wears on.......but spring will eventually arrive (about 12,000 years from now), we just gotta be patient!Banged Head [banghead]

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Sorry about getting in here so late, but . . . sleeping was just sooooo goood.

Dan, congrats on the promotion!  Yeah!! [yeah]Thumbs Up [tup]  Ray, good luck today, on starting your new job!!

On the warmer bar, you will find turkey bacon, sausage, western omelettes, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, oatmeal and toast.

Willy, I think maybe you should turn your weather machine towards the west coast, and let things kind of get back to "normal" for the midwest and eastern areas of the country!  Looks like several people are getting displeased with your weather machine!

For lunch and dinner/supper today, I've got pork chop abracadbra on in the Crock Pots.  What veggies would you all like to have with them?  Taking suggestions/requests for the veggies today.  Would anyone like to have "stew veggies"  cooked with the pork chops?

//Hobbles into Diner.

Morning All. Well, in my efforts to get back into shape, I managed to sprain an ankle. Saturday morning I went out for a jog. The trail by my house was still kind of iffy (lots of icy spots thanks to the freeze/thaw cycles we've been having) so I ended up on the road. In the last 300 feet or so to my house, I decided to open the throttle up and sprint a little bit. Lo and behold, I managed to catch a broken spot of asphalt just right and turned my ankle all the way in. I went down hard, and got some nice road rash to match on my hands and left knee. Thankfully, it was close to home, and I was able to hobble back.

The second day was indeed the worst, and I didn't do much of anything yesterday because of it (so much for grand plans of shooting 1989 up by Tunnel No. 1). Thankfully, today I seem to have better range of motion and less pain. The doctor said it should be fairly useable within a couple weeks, so I've just got to keep it taped up, elevated and such until then. That'll teach me to try to get in shape, eh?

Anyways, glad to hear that you didn't get the snow like some folks did, Tree. Still hope that things start winding down and they can start getting things cleared up out that way. As for snow, Emma, I don't mind some. Personally, excluding really great autumn foliage, I think under a nice fresh layer of snow is the prettiest way to see the world. Of course, what remains of our snow is starting to look pretty cruddy, so some new stuff might be nice.

Well, I must be on my way. Hope you all have a great one!

TTFN!

EDIT: Shoot, forgot to mention "Congratulations!" and "Good luck!" to Dan and Ray on the new jobs. Hope all goes well for you both.

Chris, so sorry to hear about your "accident" Saturday!  Take care, and do you need a pair of crutches?  If so, we've got an extra pair around here we could overnight to you!!

CW,

Thanks for the offer. I've got a pair out here if I need them. The doctor said that I should be good without them as long as I wrap it and wear a pair of supportive shoes. That didn't seem the case yesterday, but today I'm doing much better. Thanks again!

It looks like I'm getting mixed reviews with the weather machine these days. I'm on Dan and Datafever's good side, but on the bad side of everyone else. For everyone who doesn't want the snow... I'll see what I can do with all of those buttons and knobs, but I'm afraid it might be coming, no matter what.

Omaha is forecast to get 3 to 6 inches of snow tonight; probably not enough for a snowday tomorrow. Pity. However, it's not all that bad since Friday is a day off anyway.

Like I said, everyone just remain calm. I know this snow is an impending crisis and I'll try to see what I can do! Maybe I can shift things to spring here and get some tornadoes and hail instead.

Chris - that's why 4 legs are better than two.   You can hobble better!

Joe - you bet!  I am going to yell my fur off this summer when it is so hot I can't breathe.  The weather is just like politics - I will never understand or like either one!  But at least with the weather I can keep track of Willy!

133 inches of snow - that is obscene!

Hmmph!

I just got off the phone a little bit ago from Nance69.  She said to let everyone know that she and Bob think of all of us everyday.  But things have not been going too good for them, for a little while, and for the last several weeks, Bob has been under the weather.  He just has not felt like sitting up long enough for her to read the forum to him.  She said that maybe things will clear up, and they can be back on with us all soon.

I was just thinking about them the other day.  Must have jiggled something.  Sorry to hear about Bob.  It is getting close to spring, so he must get better so we can do some more virtual train watching!  The elders must stick together.

As promised -

At my house:

I cleaned out the driveway last night - there was about 4" of light, fluffy stuff there from the morning's snowfall.

At Redfield, NY:

Credit the Albany Times-Union for this particular image and story.

As a sidebar - my mother was born in Redfield.  That doesn't mean her family lived there when she was born - that's where she was born.  She now lives in Phoenix, AZ and has no desire to move back north.  Wonder why.....

Larry:  with what little bit of snow we've had a couple of times, it doesn't even come anywhere near to what you've got there at your house.  Saw second picture you posted in our Courier-Journal paper this morning.  I would be buried in that!!

Got some more pork chop abracadbra and mixed veggies (didn't have any stew veggies at the store) on the warmer bar for tonight's supper.  Have a few plates in the fridge, with names on them, for those who work the late night shift.

It has now started to rain here.  Hopefully, rain is all we'll get.  And we'll try to make sure that rain is all that goes on north and north/northeast, as well as northwest.Wink [;)]

Everyone have a great evening, and stay as warm and dry as possible.

I was talking with a friend on the phone just a little bit ago.  He was at home, not at work, and I didn't understand why.  I thought maybe he was sick or something.  Instead, he informed me that today is a holiday.  Like a dolt, I didn't think to ask him what holiday it is.  I know that it isn't Valentine's Day - that's on Wednesday.  But whatever holiday it happens to be:

Happy Holiday!!!
