yes the freezer door is open here in ohio and my brother in florida says keep the back door closed please.i'll leave that to walt and paula.they also declared yesterday a snowday at work so we can just have the time of or have vacation cover the missed day.hey willy how is chicago looking this weekend? matt and i are going to go see uncle carl and aunt pat if the weather isnt too bad(and amtrak  runs decently)

stay safe

joe

Chicago is looking pretty decent this weekend. There could be a little snow on Saturday morning, but otherwise dry weather. It looks cold though; highs in the 20s on Saturday and teens on Sunday. You probably have to worry about Amtrak more than the weather.

Does anyone out there remember the television series from the 1960's, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.?" In one of those episodes (or was it "The Avengers"?), there was a little old lady who was going around stabbing people with her knitting needles. Maybe we should send Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin to Lincoln, Nebraska to deal with Miss Kitty. I suspect she's a THRUSH agent.

Send away - I loved both of those programs.  Still watch the Avengers occasionally - with the Mrs. Peel - and the Thrush is what we see sometimes at our birdie feeder.

Nightrain, you've selected the menu for today:  pastrami sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, beef vegetable soup, cream of broccoli soup, potato soup, oyster stew, and we'll have some oyster crackers to go with the soups.

And we have Emmar's cinnamon rolls w/and without raisins, for dessert, as well as chocolate cake.

And we've got plenty coffee, hot tea, and hot cider.  Try to keep cider on hand for mudchicken and Sarah, because I know they both like it.

Back briefly, even though I missed the sis/kitty.

Congratulations, NightTrain ('bout now's when I call my friends or relatives "chubby").  Do well, and stay healthy.

Emma, don't lose the duck--he/she's an eye-catcher.  As I said elsewhere, it quacks me up.

I'm sure SJ knows what to do with knitting needles--and whom to do it to!  And if this person gets close to a cat who appears to be asleep...

OKC Mack--will I be near the new bridge somewhere along I-40 west of you?

Joe, you might hit a little snow on the trip, especially in Indiana.  Compared to what we went through Tuesday, though, it'll be a picnic.  I'll be talkin' to Julie starting tomorrow night!

Big 90 Mack, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums and the DD/CS!  Always glad to see new faces in here.  Hope you come back often.  Your supper tonight, is on me (meaning I'll take care of your tab, not that I'll be wearing the food).   Speaking of which, on the supper menu tonight:  it is Chinese night.  On the menu:  stir fry rice with beef, pork and chicken, chow mein, chop suey, and several other Chinese/Asian dishes.  Everything is laid out on the warmer bar.  Even brought in fortune cookies, for dessert, along with the prerequisite chocolate cake, white cake w/white icing, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and apple and peach pies.

Joe, will enjoy any and all pictures you share with us.  Also, there is a plate all ready for you to take to work tonight.

Thank you CShaveRR for the congrats, So far I am doing well with her, she only gives me heartburn

I'll have a dish of lo mein, some fried rice, and some oolong tea...

Guess what? According to the weather, it probably might SNOW here in Florida!, wow...I haven't seen that since I left Flagstaff.  We had to go outside and cover up the wellhead, since there is a freeze warning out tonight. It might snow, but it will probably melt off as soon as it hits the ground. We will see what it brings by tomorrow morning.

"You're the reason God made Oklahoma, and I'm still missing you."

Welcome, Big90Mack. I am not familiar with Canadian, Texas, but I use to drive through OK all the time on the way to Texas to visit family.

Somebody's expecting a caboose? It's not catching is it? Congrats! Been there, done that, wonderful experience and it lasts a lifetime.

Trees, I have been looking at your snow pictures. I love snow. No snow here, just rain.

Here at the house we've been discussing train crossings and its got me curious. A quick search online and using this forum's search mechanism hasn't revealed what I am looking for. Here's my question. When did flashing red lights first get used at railroad crossings? Granted, after the invention of the light bulb, but were the first crossing lights electrical or gas powered? And of course, the next question to follow that would have to be when did arms that lower first appear. I do know that crossbucks have been around for a long long time. (I also remember being in RR dispatch class and asking what a crossbuck was just to turn and look at my fellow classmates and each and every one of them had their arms crossed over their chests. It was funny, but truly weird.)

#####  SPLAT......who??? - Randy!  Why are you lying on the floor!  I nearly broke a nail tripping over you.

Must put fur back in place now!  Tongue [:P]

Also must practice my new whine - Willy!  It is so hot and humid.  When are you going to send some cooler air.  When will we get rain?  Willy!!!!

(Sound ok?)

Tina - good question.  I will hazard a guess that signals didn't come into play until well into the electric generation.  Telegraphers used "the wire" and it wouldn't be a big leap to other things like signals and crossing lights.

Big90Mac - it is just a smidge east of Elk City.  South of Clinton and North of Hobart.  Based at Clinton-Shermon AFB.  Great small town!

Off to find Joe - seems we need a little work done on our squeaky garden door!  And where is Da Mutt?  He hasn't been in lately.  If he is digging in the garden again.....dang dawg!  Leave that to the pro!

The diced potatoes are par boiling for my home-made hashbrowns. I fix 'em with finely chopped red and green bell peppers and onions. I also have the sausage started for the gravy. While the taters are cooling, I'll finish drinking my coffee. Then will get the scrambled eggs, bacon and biscuits going. Then I will fry up the portions of hashbrowns as everyone comes in.
Cw  I could use some help with the OJ.
