This better?

Belated Happy Happy to Jay.

Brian - I still have the malingering effects - it has now been with me since November.  It is mostly just a dry cough and it is sneaky.  When you least expect it....(hack hack)

Peeked in on Super Ball - wasn't much impressed with commercials.  Bring back the Horses and football - get rid of the playstation 2 type commercials.  Ugh.  Animals with lips are passe.  I never had them and - and - well all I can think of is it makes sipping hot coffee harder.

Did as Joe requested - kicked Willy and his too predictable weather machine.  Think I got it to generate a little warmer weather.  These things take time.

CW - how's SP?  I bet she is keeping her own counsel.  Usually with her feet tucked neatly under her while she observes the world.  Has she started to talk yet?  We waited quite a few years for the talking and then it became non-stop.  (Wonder who she learned that from....)

Going by the fireplace - got wrapped up in the hammock last time and got dizzy trying to unwind it.  Fell on my unmentionable.

Nite

Mookie.  Thanks for the Bday greetings.  Answer to your question about complex state tax returns-I think it is a matter of the state politicians and bureaucrats trying to show that they are better at their job than the federal types.

Jay - well, they succeeded - big time!  And we file a very simple tax return - we make it, we pay it all in taxes, we sign and go on....

Good afternoon folks!  Trying to get rid of a sinus headache.  Not succeeding very well, either.Sad [:(]Disapprove [V] Puts me in a foul mood, and no one can stand to be around me for more than a couple of minutes.

I've made more chili for today.  Have all three kinds:  mild, medium, and five alarm.  To go with the chili, there are grilled cheese sandwiches, fried bologna & cheese sandwiches, and we have some tacos and enchiladas left from last night.

I will try my best to stay in a good mood, and not take it out on anyone, either at home or here.  Anxiously awaiting the mail delivery today:  early anniversary present from the mutt:  a new ski jacket.  The one I have is about 12 years old, and it has seen a very hard life, as it doesn't quite keep me very warm on the sub-freezing days.

Mookie, yes, Sweetie Pie is being vocal.  Not a whole lot, but she is beginning to let us know when they need water, food, or just saying "Hi" to us.  She still won't venture downstairs, to even  TRY to get acquainted with Winter, the doggie.  She loves to play with a ball of red yarn, and if we hold her pink and gray catnip mouse by the nose, or paw, she'll stand on her hind legs and grab it by the tail.  Then procede to put her teeth into it.  And she has finally accepted Sammy, our white cat, and quit hissing at him if he even looks at her.

No kidding!  Iowa is no different- on our state return, you're better off if you file "Married Filing Separately On This Combined Return" instead of "Married Filing Jointly".  This is the first year that we've not been able to claim at least one dependent, so I was apprehensive about the outcome.  As it turns out, we owe Uncle Sam a bunch, but the state is still giving us a bunch back, resulting in a net of us owing $58. My parents have to pay through the nose because they can't claim me.  A few years back, the first year of that, my parents actually suggested that I chip in to what they owed.

Brian, how is your family doing? I don't think I heard an update. The tornadoes hit around the Lady Lake area, the hardest, but again I hope your family is ok

Happy anniversery to you and Walt, CW, hope you can celebrate more the coming years.

The kids are fine- my daughter-in-law woke up from a bad dream to the sounds of the storm, so she huddled closer to my son, who of course slept through the whole thing.  No damage in their neighborhood, AFAIK.

Ow, Mookie! That hurt! Angry [:(!] Jim should come in and make a rule against kicking.

Now that I have that cleared up, I would like to wish CW and Locomutt an early Happy Anniversary.

The weather remains nice and cold here in Omaha and is expected to remain about the same for the next week. Chances of light snow are tonight, Friday, and Sunday or Monday. Still no big storms in sight though.

Everyone have a good week!

I think that I'll just help myself to some of this chili.  And a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches sounds good too.  Why not?  Dinner [dinner]

Another beautiful day here in sunny San Jose.  Been walking around quite a bit.  Too bad that these 68 degree days will soon be coming to an end - summer is just around the corner and that means 75 degree temps instead.

CW - you'd need that warm jacket here.  Chill factors in the minus 20 range.  Now they're threatening to send the lake effect back north.

Got a call from daughter - they are dealing with frozen pipes in their townhouse.  I'd run down and give them a hand, but that band of snow between here and there is a bad thing.  I'll just offer advice....

Let's see what's in the cooler for a snack later.  Dinner [dinner]

Good early morning everyone.....

A not-so-good morning here, I did the 'drive hunt' on the way home tonight, took out a deer at 55mph.  I'm fine, truck looks okay except for a busted parking light and the plastic on the front bumper got broken, but the deer is a bit messed up.Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]  Just got off the phone with the insurance people, will hear from them later.  Maybe now would be a good time to look into those heavy duty front bumpers.....

Think I'll grab some leftover five-alarm chili. See everyone later.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! KY. Brian and everyone else, thanks so much for the early anniversary wishes.

Randy, glad you weren't hurt!  Will we be having any venison come into the diner?  Some venison steaks, or ground venison for chili sounds real nice.

Coffee is on, juice is made, and got plenty of hot water for tea and cocoa.  Also have some milk heating for hot chocolate.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, toast.

Larry, that new jacket will get a workout this morning, with Produce Tuesday, then at 11 a.m., I'll be going to my new Dr. for a first time visit, and hopefully, be able to get my prescriptions filled.

SO I'M GOING TO NEED ONE OF YOU TO TAKE OVER LUNCH FOR ME, PLEASE!!
I do have more chili simmering on the range(stove) top, so it'll be a little easier for whomever helps out this morning.  AND THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE!!

Gasp!  No lunch lady?  I am not sure I can survive w/o lunch.  Best call the paramedics for an IV - oh wait, Tree can do that and probably cook lunch, too!  All right.  My world is back on full tilt!

Speaking of above said Tree - I am really lousy in geography, so have made it a point o polish up at least my USA geography.  I figured out where Chicago is (Brother Carl), I know where Ohio is (Joe), Kentucky (lunch lady and her Mutt) PA - I am still a little iffy - but Sarah will straighten me out I am sure.  I know all my states but the New England ones.  I have been in every state west of the Missouri and a few east.  The southern states I know, but not the cities.  So we need some of you to give me a thumbnail of where you live (any state) and close to what large city.  For you Wisconsinites - I have been to LaCrosse, Eau Claire County and Bemidji.  Well, if they didn't move it to Wisconsin, they should.  Nice town.

I looked up Tree's place - that's a toughie for me.  I am still working on Michigan having a thumb and the great lakes which I know spell HOME, but not sure in which order yet.  And why didn't New Jersey get "the island" instead of New York?   It's closer isn't it?

Anyone want to help?

Mookie

Good morning everyone.

What Mookie needs is a large, National Geographic map of the United States, which she could tack to a bulletin board in her home. And then she could pin-point the home locations of every other member of this forum with map tacks. I have such a map that I might be willing to part with.

Currently in Sioux Falls we have a temperature of 6 degrees above 0. The wind is out of the S/E at 13 mph, leaving us with a wind chill of 9 below 0. I have to run a few errands later this morning out in the cold and I reckon I'd better dress appropriately for the conditions.
