Ugh.

Gimmie the five-alarm chili, I need something to rev me up and clear my sinuses.

Happy B-Day [bday], Jay!

We're showing signs of warming up, if you can call it that.  Currently +1.9 degrees on the weather station, and +2.3 on the SkyScan.  We had a low early this morning of -9.8 degrees.  I guess I'll have to root for the Bears tonight, since they're in the same division as the Vikes.  I'll be even more interested in the commercials, though.

I'm hoping there's some good commercials too.  I heard that a guy paid $2.5 mil for a 30 second spot to 'pop the question'.  I wonder if it's true.  I think that it'll be a good game.  I've got some garlic summer sausage, cheddar cheese, and Ritz crackers if anyone needs a pre-game snack.

Did anyone besides me get to go railfanning this weekend? I went to Dalton, Ga and saw 18 trains in 6 hours. The most memorable events of the day included a CSX train being powered by two CN locomotives (a first for me) and I also saw an NS train with 11 locomotives!

Sorry, but you should learn how to count.  Your post is a top of page post, which means that it was post 1001, not post 1000.  It was, however, reply 1000, which is not the same thing at all.  Any top of page post will be post # **01, **21, **41, **61, or **81.

Good point, df, I never thought about that, but you're right.  That means that reply #999 is the 1000th post.  Let's see, who's the lucky poster?

Railfan1!  He also had the last post on the previous page.

Brian, I suspect that his previous post was merely gratuitous - his way of ensuring that he would beat everyone else to the 1000th post.  Little did he know...Captain [4:-)]

Personally, I think Willy should have gotten the 1000th post for his excellent weather skills.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Okay, everyone, I hope you're enjoying all the food & snacks I've fixed for tonight.  It includes just about everything you could possibly want to eat tonight.  Joe, got a couple of large plates fixed for you to take to work tonight.  They're in the fridge, with your name on them.

Jay, hope your birthday has been a good one, and will continue to be a very Happy birthday through this evening!!  Many happy felicitations!!

Datafever-

Eh, I really don't care myself.  Back when the old diner thread reached 100,000, IIRC, I purposefully posted just prior to that that jhhtrainsplanes should get the honor of the next post, which everyone else apparently agreed with, since he actually did.

I guess that means I was wrong too because I also said post 1,000 rather than reply 1,000. All I know is that this is way too complicated for a weekend.

OK, enough counting for now.  My head hurts.

I imagine the Super Bowl is progressing.  Your team is either winning or losing (or is the game tied?).  I'll read about it in the morning...

The lake effect is moving south, but not letting up.  Portions of the Interstate that were closed earlier are finally mostly open.

It was a messy day - no serious accidents, but plenty of cars and trucks off the road, along with some fender benders.  Two ambulances also went off the road - one carrying a woman in labor, and one that was on its way to take her the rest of the way to the hospital.  Interestingly, in the same general area, another vehicle carrying another woman in labor gave up on the weather and pulled off the road to await an ambulance.  The same ambulance (yet another rig) ended up taking both in, from what I could tell on the scanner.

Sure was nice here at the house...

Good COLD Monday morning, everyone!  We are at 9 degrees, with a windchill of -10 to -12 out this morning.  Yuck!  Would the weather gods please bring us some warm temps, please?!?!  I know people in Wyoming, Montana, and some places in Canada are much, much colder, but hey, we all need warmth.

Coffee is ready, juice is made and hot water is ready for hot tea and hot cocoa.  Can also heat some milk for hot chocolate.

Condolences to all  the Chicago Bears fans, and congratulations to all the Indianapolis Colts fans.

On the breakfast bar, you will find:  turkey bacon, sausage patties, sausage links, scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, oatmeal, toast, grits.

Guess that's about it for right now.  Everyone have a good morning, stay dry, warm and safe.

Nope - never been to London in my life.  It actually comes from the same source that your avatar comes from - I have that pic in my collection too.

Mookie - I can't really understand you when you talk through your muffler like that.  Captain [4:-)]
