That is a nice photo--is this the loco you had pictured on the Forum some time back with the
'toasted' electrical cabinet?
At any rate that is one picture that ought to make the 'ALCOheads' in the crowd glow with envy...bigger wheels? Hope you tricked the speed also

Thanks for repairing my link, yes this was the one with the toasted electrical system. I think the GE heads will get a bigger kick out of it though.

Randy, that's a great picture of a very nice looking loco!! Great job!
The pork chop abracadbra is ready, and I made some green beans, stewed tomatoes, and mashed taters to go with the chops. Duff, thank you very much for the pasta salad. That compliments the rest of supper to the max!!
Joe, thanks for making more lemonade, glad you got your container for work tonight! I know you are very glad that this is your "Friday"!!
Temperature-wise, we made it to at least 99 degrees today, with a heat index of 104. Did not hear about the humidity level. Not too sure I even want to hear it later on tonight, either.
Everyone have a good evening, if you're in the rain, rain, rain zone, try to stay as dry as possible, and if you're like us, and in the hot, hot, hot zone, try to stay as cool as possible.
Dan
Good Friday morning to one and all! Duff, very nice pictures!! The more you take, the better you'll are get!
We currently at 80 degrees this morning, temp going up to 104 by 7 p.m. EDT tonight. Yuck!! Bring on the water, folks, cause we're going to need it today!!
I've got doughnuts of all kinds and shapes on the counter, along with muffins, bagels and bear claws. Coffee is ready, fresh juices, iced tea and lemonade freshly made and in the fridge and cooler (made enough to have some in both places, in easy reach for everyone).
Going to make sure the ac is turned down a couple of notches, to keep it cool in here. You all have a good morning!!
....73 as we start our day here in Muncie.....To get to mid. to upper 90's today again, than a day or two of relief. Monday or so, right back in the high stuff with humidity.
Any one trying their luck photographing trains {from my experience}, pay attention to background items....where the light is coming from....and lots of practice. Those few basic thoughts will allow better pictures.

When I go to Flagstaff this Christmas I can practice more. The ckisest tracks are about thistyt to fifty miles away from here, and usually if I have my camera, I take the pics if there is a train passing through. One of these days when the weather cools down i will go out and hang out by the tracks. Try to catch better pics of the CSX line here.
Flagstaff I can take videos, and pics. Any fans around Flag, I would like to get a hold of some of them so we can go fanning around town. That would be awesome!
mmmm Donuts...*drool* ......lol Homer simpson is funny, he's my conical hero. I went to see the SImpsons a couple of weeks ago, in theatres, and that movie was hilarious.
I will take some donuts,....and........we need a cappiucino machine, I have to go down the road for Starbucks I can bring one in this afternoon
Thanks for the praise on the pics. and thanks for the advice dude with the bold large print
Half inch of rain here yesterday afternoon - which we needed. More in the forecast of the next couple of days.
Night - You can't improve if you don't make (and recognize) mistakes (and we all make them - your efforts are commendable thus far). Be your own worst critic - take a look at the pictures and ask yourself what you could have done to improve them. Then do it next time.
As suggested - watch your background and lighting. The sun is a fickle light source - and it's 'never' on the right side of the train... Most of us have experienced at least one case of a tree growing out of Aunt Mabel's head, too. That comes from focusing our attention on the subject at hand and forgetting the rest of the picture. I've seen some beautiful rainbow pictures - with power lines running right through the middle of them. A few steps forward (or left, or right) can often change a photo dramatically.
I'll repeat my favorite composition "secret." Known as the "rule of thirds," it simply involves dividing your picture up into thirds horizontally and vertically. Many people tend to put the focal point of their picture dead center in the shot.
If you can print off a favorite shot on plain paper, do so, for practice purposes. Draw lines across the picture at the third points (ie, two lines in each direction).
Now - when composing your picture -
First - the horizon. Try to put the horizon on one of the two horizontal lines.
Second - major vertical factor (maybe a big tree, or a signal mast). Consider putting that on one of the two vertical lines.
Third - if there is a significant focal point (which might be a person's head, or a locomotive headlight), put it on one of the four intersections.
Take a look at some pictures you like (yours and others) and see if you don't find that they used the rule... There will be times when it simply won't work, but there are going to be many times when it can turn a snapshot into a portrait.
First and foremost - take lots of pictures!
Bearclaw and some orange-and-spice tea for me.
Here's the menu for our FRIDAY FISH FRY:
1. cod2. haddock3. hallibut4. perch5. salmon patties
Side dishes: corn on the cob, fries, onion rings, cole slaw, baked beans and hush puppies.
Got fresh lemonade and iced tea (made more about an hour ago), along with some grape Kool-Aid and fruit punch Kool-Aid.
Our temp is now at 90 degrees, but there is a very slight breeze out. Have three window fans exhausting warm (hot) air out of the house.
Wonder where Mookie is hiding. Probably "snowed" under with paperwork at her desk!) And haven't seen Joe this morning: he must have worked late last night, and is really sleeping in.

Pull the plug, see if that helps
I would if I could find it. I'll take a plate of fish now. Maybe later I'll find that drain.
Could make railfanning a challenge this weekend.

Ever the optimist.....
Son-in-law travelled to Detroit tonight - not sure if the storms that went through there caused him any problems or not. One more stadium in his quest to visit them all. I think his brother is a part of that quest, too.
We should see some of that rain tonight - it's moving pretty quickly. Figures, I was hoping I'd be in the 70% that it wouldn't rain. So I put down some driveway sealer. Not all of it, fortunately - just one section...
Too late for supper, so I'll just rummage around for a bedtime snack.

Joe, hope your all's team does well. Our local High Schools had their games either postponed,
or starting times pushed back until the fields "cooled down", a rule, or something about it has
to be less than 100 degrees on the playing field. Also looks like we maybe (?) getting some
of that moisture this evening, they (weather guessers) SAY it's Supposed to start raining.
Louisville is hosting the "Iron Man" regional competition this weekend, and the orginizers are
afraid that it will add more pollution to the already polluted Ohio River for their 2.4 mile swim.
