Last evening my bride (aka "better half") grabbed a Mickey D chicken wrap and sat at the Metra Naperville, IL station and watched the action with our Golden Retriever "Amber" and saw the Amtrak "Illinois Zephyr" come through west bound with an unusual two units and five cars. The units were a ubiquitous Genesis and number 515...very unusual.  The night before the same train had a different Genesis unit but also number 515. Number 515 is a Dash 8-P32BWH and here is a past photo of her on a different train...

Well, it's time to get our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST going.  On tonight's menu:

1.  Canadian bacon
2.  cheese
3.  Goetta
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
6.  Supreme
7.  anchovie

I've baked and put out two extra large for each kind; there are 7 more made up in the freezer, if more people come in.  All we'll have to do is put them in the oven.

Hope everyone has a great evening.  And, elofan Jim, good to see you in today!!  Hope you'll drop in more often.

Bit of an echo in here....

Must be everyone is out trying to enjoy what little summer is left.

Hawaiian for me, please.  And some sweet tea.

A nice day today. Nice change from hotter weather elsewhere.

A good day to spend a little time with the family at the last weekend of the Rennisance Festival in Sterling...

Good Sunday morning, to one and all! Joe, thanks for making the coffee, juice and lemonade!  I've got breakfast on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausages, homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and hash browns.

Since it's such a nice, beautiful day, think I'll fire up the charcoal grill around 12:30, and grill some steaks, hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and "baked" taters for our SUNDAY DINNER.  Side dishes will be:  potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, broccoli w/cheese sauce.  Desserts will be all the regular items on the menu:  chocolate cake, apple, cherry, peach and chocolate pies.

Everyone have a great day, take care, and stay safe!

What a relaxing weekend.  If it wasn't for the day/time stamp on the posts I'd have no idea what day it is.  I'm just doing whatever I feel like for a change instead of serving a schedule.

Sat by the tracks yesterday with an old HS friend I haven't seen for a while.  We probably BS'd for 3-4 hours.  Couple that with such nice, cool, fall-like weather and it doesn't get much better!

the horn sounded louder than a car horn. Man it was so loud it made me jump...Think it was a train.

Then again I seen videos of people outfitting their trucks with airhorns...why...to be obnoxious...I dunno

Good Monday morning, to one and all.  Looks like it's been kind of dead in here last night!

Coffee is on and ready to pour, fresh juices, iced tea and lemonade are made and in the cooler and fridge, and empty  Gatorade tanks are full ones put in place.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausge gravy, and home fries.

Just in case Mookie gets to leave her desk for a few this morning, I've got her coffee mug ready with coffee in it, and a couple of bagels, if she doesn't want any of the breakfast that is on the warmer bar.

Ed, and anyone else on the southeast coast of Texas, are you prepared for Huricane Dean?!?!  Sure hope so, and also hope everyone stays safe and sound!!

Yessssss....on my way to the coffee.

Did some spraying this weekend - found 2 house spiders in the bedroom.  They went to that great spider house in the sky, too!  Driver went back to long pants and bites have quit for now.

Hurricane season is in full force.  Sometime we get a smidge of rain from them.  Did get some smoke from the western fires Sat morning - sniffed the air when heading out to train watch and thought someone had burned down a house.  But smelled same thing trackside and figured out it was from western NE fires.

Tree - let's see.  You work on puters, accidently put two wires together that you shouldn't, start a small fire and put it out yourself.  Got it!

Have it on good information that Der Chicken is busy for a few days.  Practicing a cluck with a twang....

Umbrellas will be passed out later today for those that are going to get wet.  Where is Willy when you need a good forecast?

Thanx for beagle CW - blueberry with strawberry cream cheese is now spoken for....

Moo.....

Morning!  Coffee for me

I think I see water lapping up to the curb a bit down the street.  I expect that Houston Ed has put the Magnum up on blocks and has the boat ready to come up and rescue all of us.  After everybody is on board, we can go down to Rochelle and tie up at the dock, er, visitor platform.  Maybe we can tow a barge stocked up with food from the Depot.

Hmm, maybe they'll try to float an "over height" boat through there just to keep

the record intact!! Laugh [(-D]

Jay, just ONE barge of food for all of us?!Confused [%-)] I doubt that will be enough just for breakfast!! (at least make sure the BIG coffee pot is in there for certain people!!)

I could get my neighbor's 6x6 if the barge isn't full enough.  It's got the snorkel and a sealed cab so we're fine!

For lunch today, I've fixed some beef strogaunof (sp?) for lunch, along with leftovers from the cookout yesterday.  Also have burgers, cheeseburgers and fries, if nothing else suits your appetite for today.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, apple, cherry and peach cobblers w/ice cream (any flavor you wish)

I've also gone out and gotten life preservers for anyone who might need them, in the places that are getting or will be getting pouring rain.

I'm just glad we're getting the rain: we need it!  Cheer up tho, it could be snow.  Of course, that'd be fine with me.

Heard someone cut the cake.  That's odd.  Usually it is cheese.....
