We're supposed to have a high of 75 today.  That's getting better.  I'd prefer snow and 25 but some would label me as a 'loony' for that!

Dan, I don't know that I'm in any hurry to see a high of 25 (or low, for that matter), but your high of 75 for today sounds really good!!  Not too sure about snow, but a nice little hail storm would be 'nice', and I'd go out and pick up as many as I could.  Would not mind at all, holding a bunch of hail stones in my hands right now!!

Lunch today:  leftovers of Mutt's spaghetti casserole, w/garden salad and garlic Texas toast.  (Now that that's out of the oven, I'm going to find some 'cool air' to sit in front of!)

Well,

Erin missed us, sorta...

She veered off towards Mexico a little more last night, and landed just south of Corpus Christi...

Bad news is, Houston is on the dirty side of the storm...all the moisture she was dragging behind her is now coming down as thunder storms...it has been raining quite hard since 4am, lots of thunderstorms back to back, all of the Texas Gulf coast is under a flash flood warning, Houston is under a shelter in place warning...(yuh, it's a swamp, whatta ya thinks is going to happen)

The hill country around San Antonio is in the path of the rain,,,like they need more floods too...good news is Edwards Aquifer is filled up again!

Bad new is the aquifer is full...the water has to go somewhere....

Wish there was a way to post a sound bite...solid thunder for the last two hours, just boom after boom after boom...hard enough to dislodge and rattle pictures off the walls.

Ed I can lend you my waterwings if you need 'em.  Just let me know.

I'll take some s'ketti and bread.  Sounds good!

I decided to start getting ready for 'fall outdoor wildlife pursuits' (catch my drift) early so I can partake in more of them this year.  I can't wait!  Plus on the way to and from I can usually sneak some 'fanning in.

Had a brunch meeting this morning - August birthday's fed us - very well, too!

Houston Ed - I keep telling you to move up north and get away from all that nonsense.  We had a gentle rain at 4 am and it has been tinkling ever since then.  It will be in the high 80's with humidity just about there, also.  See - your kind of weather, w/o all the nastiness.

Wonder if the chicken got done cooking and got some cooler weather?  Lunch is a nap - still a little stressful but slowing down a little.  (wonder what surprises await me for next week....)

I just had to turn the air off because it was warmer in the house than out!  How nice!  Now I have two appointments and an interview to keep.  Back later.

We finally got some rain this afternoon!  Our high locally was 103, but when it started raining, our home indoor/outdoor thermometer read 100.  Now, it is 76!!  Terrific breeze out, too.

Joe, got containers made up for you and Lance for tonight.  (Also put some slices of pizza in an extra container for each of you.  Yes, tonight's THURSDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

On the menu tonight:

1.  Canadian Bacon
2.  cheese w/extra cheese
3.  Hawaiian
4.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
5.  Supreme

Since we've not been having as many people in lately, I only made two extra large pizzas of each of the five kinds on tonight's menu.

Everyone have a great evening, and take care!!

Thanx railfan.  I need a big cup of coffee this morning.  It has been a strenous morning reading how much everyone likes the diner thread.  I am so glad!  They mention it often!  What they forget is that at least we are not cluttering up the rest of the threads if we stay in here and have a good time.

Dan - you did good!  I like your reasoning and sensible postings in "that thread".....

Good Friday morning, everyone!  Little bit cooler here, this morning.  But the humidity reading is 80%, so it's very muggy and sticky this morning.

Lance, thanks for bringing in the doughnuts, and for making the coffee.  I've made fresh juices for the morning, and also have gotten fresh tea and lemonade made.

Duff, can't remember if I thanked you yesterday, for bringing in an air conditioner, so I'm thanking you right now!!  That is really helping!!

Think I'll grab a couple of cream filled, chocolate covered doughnuts, and head out to the patio and garden with my breakfast and my coffee.

Mookie, will you be around for the Friday Fish Fry lunch, or will you be on your way home by then??  Maybe I can get an 'early' start on lunch, around 11 a.m. EDT, so you can take a couple of plates home with you.

Everyone have a great morning, take care, and stay cool!!

CW - looks like I am here 'til at least 1-1:30 CDST.  So you should be ok.

Question for anyone that may know - Driver has been attacked periodically during this summer by an unseen bug.  He gets what looks like mosquito bites between his waist and knees.  Hard bumps that itch terribly.  They don't seem to get him on other parts of his body, they aren't spider bites since I have sprayed the house, haven't seen a bug one all summer inside (ok one silverfish I killed in the bathtub) we have literally no back yard - just wood chips on the side of the parking lot and we spend no time out front where the grass is.

They don't bother me - have had nothing bite me (bug-wise) at all.  He wears shorts; I don't.  We have ruled out mosquitos, spiders, bed bugs, chiggers (his lower legs aren't attacked) and I itch just thinking about them.  They are one-at-a-time and usually hit anywhere from 2-3 days apart to several weeks.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Mook, don't know if this is the answer you're looking for, but, several days ago on our local news they had a thing on something very similar to what you're talking about.

It would seem that there are some very, very small "mites" that have been "Hitching Rides" on flying insects to deliver said "bites". They don't seem to know exactly what they are, but they do bite and leave little red bumps on you. (and itch like crazy) I have some on me now on my forearms. Never felt anything bite me, just after I come back in the house, there they are. I've also had a bit of trouble keeping them from itching, using rubbing alcohol works, but not for long..I put a bit of Neosporin on them, and that's seem to have worked. (for now anyway)

FYI, all three of us wear shorts outside, and seems like I'm the only one to get bitten by these whatevers! Dead [xx(]

NO, no one said anything about it. Glad it's helping

Since I got up with little one, I may as well have some breakfast. How about a muffin and some fruit?

I have my air blasting, since it's so muggy outside. I would hate to be working outdoors this time of year. Yuck!

Okay, everyone, our FRIDAY FISH FRY AND CLAMBAKE is now underway.  All the regular kinds of fish, along with clams, are now on the warmer bar.   We also have the usual sides of fries, hushpuppies, and corn on the cob also on the warmer bar.  In the iced section of the warmer bar, you have cole slaw, melon chunks, grapes, and pineapple.

DESSERTS TODAY:  chocolate cake, apple, cherry, peach and pecan pies.

Mookie, if you wish, there are a couple of several to-go containers in the cooler for you to take home for tonight.  All you and Driver will have to do is zap the fish, fries and hushpuppies in the microwave, and you'll both be ready to eat your supper!!  And anyone else is more than welcome to fix to-go containers to take home with them for tonight, also!!

Back to the grindstone - It is getting ahead of me!

Everyone have a good weekend.

I actually get a weekend off (part of it at least) and I'm going to do some railfanning and finish some modeling projects.  I may stop in for more fish later...we had a late lunch here at work.

It supper time now (at least on the East Coast), so here's tonight's fish menu:

1.  catfish
2.  cod
3.  perch
4.  rainbow trout
5.  halibut
6.  steamed clams

They're all on the warmer bar, along with fries, hushpuppies, and corn on the cob.  On the section of the warmer bar, which has been loaded with crushed ice are cole slaw, potato salad, seafood sauce, and tarter sauce.  In the cooler are chocolate cake, apple, peach, cherry and pecan pies.

Everyone enjoy your supper, and if you wish, take your plates on out to the patio, enjoy the trains passing through, and enjoy the evening.

Wow - Don't get in for a bit and the place is just a hoppin'!

Gotta work this weekend - still programming radios.  At least I can decide how long I want to work.

Was inside this afternoon, and away from my computer, so I missed the storm that blew through.  Unfortunately the slider in the back window of the truck was open and some drops made it all the way to the front console - good thing it didn't pour, too!

The Dal is sitting here looking at me - I think he wants to be a lap dog.  But, I have some fire department business to do here first, so he'll have to wait.

I think I'll have some perch, just for the halibut...  Tongue [:P]

Goood Saturday morning, everyone!  Very nice and pleasant this morning, with a current temp of 67.  Made for some good sleeping last night.  Hope everyone had a  good night's sleep (looks like some are still visiting Sleepy Town).

Coffee is on and ready; freshly made juices, iced tea and lemonade are in the fridge and cooler; Gatorade tanks replenished.

On the breakfast/warmer bar:  pancakes, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs.

You all have a great day, be careful and stay safe, and see you all back in here later on.
