Joe and Lance, have containers ready for both you, for work tonight.  Also have two 2-gallon jugs of Gatorade for you also!!

The next round of MEXICAN FIESTA is now underway.  On the warmer bar:  tacos, burritos (regular and enchilada style), Spanish rice, shredded lettuce w/tomato cubes and onion, tortillas w/extra thick and chunky salsa and con queso dips, and chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and peach ice creams for dessert.

It's the same place, but we have to 'renew' it each year because of server reasons.  You're still welcome tho!  As is everyone!

Good Wednesday morning to one and all!  Well, we made it up to 101 yesterday, with a heat index of 110 to 115.  Looks like a repeat for the next several days.

Coffee is on, and freshly made juices, iced tea, lemonade are getting nice and cold in the fridge.  Since it's so hot all over the nation, I've set out boxes of cold cereal on the counter, and there's plenty of milk in the cooler and fridge.

Everyone stay as cool as possible,  and be careful out there!

Now taking roll call, to see who's here.

Present!

Muggy here last night - rain this AM, but temps are livable.

Let me grab my bear claw and tea and I'm off to my daily tasks.

I'm here, albeit a bit soggy & sweaty from this heat and humidity that a lot of people are having.

Larry, nice avatar!!

Brian (Ia.)  Might want to keep a can of WD-40, or other oil on hand for your armor during this high humidity time.

Present ma'am!

I think I'll keep my fire extinguisher handy today.  Just in case.  Seems there's an ember or two around here that won't go out.

If it flares up any more, we may have to get Tree and have him pull one of the pumpers by, and pull some 2, 3/4 inch hose and drown the flames.

(5 inch would be better, but that's too much overkill!)

Hard at work on the ADIX.

Unseen to my left is the author of "Where did the tracks go in the central Adirondacks," Michael Kudish, as well as the rest of our crew that day.  He's still wondering why we'd pay so much attention to him - but, gee, he wrote a book that tells about 'our' railroad!

"Where Did the Tracks Go in the Central Adirondacks"

It just came out - I doubt it's even on the book sites yet.

If you want to buy it: http://www.catskill.net/purple/railroad.htm

I stand to gain nothing by its sales, by the way.

I heard from my UP source of info (Shock [:O]) that there's been a derailment of a loaded coal train on the Clinton Mississippi River bridge.  Monitoring the local news sites here, nothing on them yet...

EDIT: Found a link with a little info and a picture...

Hey, I know one thing we can discuss and share with the diner patrons- "the best post of the day".  For instance, Noah's post in the "UP disliker's club" thread- I'd love to meet him and high-five him after that one.

Brian, liked your post on the "Humor" Thread, did they do any studies of "Tin Boots", or was it just the hats?!

Since it is so hot everywhere, supper is once again on the light side:  tomatoes stuffed with tuna salad, garden salads w/ham & turkey added, and we also have cantaloupe and watermelon chunks.  Still plenty of ice cream and ice novelties for dessert.  Anyone care for a Patriot Pop, to help cool off?!?!

Joe and Lance, got containers in the fridge, ready for you guys to take to work tonight.

Louisville area had a record high today:  102, w/heat index of 110 to 115.  How high has it been for any of the rest of you today?!?!

Good Thursday morning to all.  Hope everyone had a good night, and that you managed to stay cool (if you don't have air conditioning) overnight.

Coffee is ready; oj, oj/tangerine, iced tea, and lemonade are freshly made this morning.  Replaced the Gatorade tanks, and cooked breakfast this morning.  On the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fried taters, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and all kinds of fresh fruits, from apples to strawberries.

You all have a good day, stay as cool as possible, and if you have any requests for lunch and or dinner/supper, please let me know.

Q - I looked out the front door at 4:15 a.m. for the paper and thought we were having a fire somewhere - I couldn't see the top of the street light across the street.  Sniffed the air and decided 1: it was fog and 2: that wasn't the smartest sniffing I had ever done.....

Hey all, I'm back in and preparing lunch for today:  THURSDAY PIZZA FEST.  On today's menu:

1.  anchovie
2.  cheese w/extra cheese
3.  Goetta
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
6.  supreme

Believe I've got enough made up for lunch, and during the afternoon, I'll be preparing more to have on hand for supper tonight, and anyone who wants to take some home with them for supper tonight.
