Nice shot, Chris! And no, I don't think there is too much clutter in the backround. I do not think I could have done better myself in the same spot.Thumbs Up [tup]

And a Tip Top of the Morning to You All,

Sorry to hear that the rest of you are finally getting some winter. You'll get used to it after awhile (say 6 weekends in a row with appreciable accumulation of snow). Oh well, one has to make do with what one is given from Weatherman Willy and his Wacky Weekend Weather Machine.

Sunday morning I decided to head out and see if I could find anything to get a picture of in the new snow. I started on the Moffat Line. Saw a couple eastbounds before sunup, but after that the line was Dead [xx(]. After waiting a couple hours, I decided to call "no joy." I decided to take the scenic way back, though through Golden, and see if I could at least get a shot of the Beer Run. I found him, and got this shot:

I didn't really like this shot, though (too much background clutter, most of the train is in shadows, etc.) so I had planned to chase him back into Arvada. Alas! there was a switch job out on the line, so the Beer Run had to wait. I couldn't wait, as I have a couple pups I'm baby-sitting that were probably getting a little anxious for breakfast. Oh well, at least I didn't come back completely empty-handed, I guess.

Well, I guess I had better be on my way. I hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

We have 21 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and with the wind blowing out of the WNW at 7 mph, that leaves us with a wind chill of 13 degrees. At least we are not sitting at 13 below 0. I will be dropping into the Diner for a cup of hot chocolate pretty soon.

Good Monday morning to all!  Joe, thanks so very much for the extra blanket.  I slept nice and warm and cozy all night!  Our current temp is 15, with a wind chill of 0.  Just glad I don't have to get out this morning.

Nightrain, thanks for the offer!!

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, grits, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs.

Got plenty of coffee on, hot water for tea and cocoa, and have plenty of milk to make hot chocolate.

Guess that's about all from me this morning, except everyone have a great day, and stay warm, dry and safe.

......Strange, our temp has gone up a bit in the last few hours...Now..{well it was up to 17 something}, but just took a look and we're now at 16.5, and with a bit of wind.  Just flurries at times not making much headway on accumulation.

Well, it's a quarter after 8:00 here and we have a temp of 11 degrees above 0, and with the wind out of the south at 9 mph, that leaves us with a wind chill factor of -1 degree below 0.

I had a new furnace installed in my basement just after Christmas of 2002, and my brother-in-law who installed it is a plumbing & heating contractor. I think I remember him telling me to simply leave my thermostat set at 66 or 68 degrees and that way my furnace would run a lot more efficiantly. I don't think I need to worry about my plumbing freezing during the night.

My slowly aging body though, has it's own thermostat it seems, and I am always cold. I will be going to bed within another hour or so, and I sleep under several layers; cotton bed sheet, two knitted blankets, a cotton bed spread, a star quilt which one of my sisters made for me, a wool indian blanket, and a sleeping bag, which I have unzipped all the way, I lay it across my bed with the polyester side up and it serves as a comforter. And.........I have an extra wool blanket in my basement if I need it!!

CW if I could get you plane tickets here to Florida I would do that. It's about at least thirty five degrees, but it would probably last till tomorrow at the latest.

I could go for some pie myself. mmmm Cherry if you have it

At 6:09 p.m., we are at a current temp of 15.6, with a wind chill of minus 2!! I don't like it  this cold!!!!!!!!  Willy, PLEASE send us some heat!!

Ray, hope you have a couple of faucets dripping, so your pipes don't freeze (along with anyone else, who's having all the much below freezing temps).  And yes, lasagna is on the warmer bar for tonight, along with beef stew & cornbread.

The next round of Sunday Dinner is on the warmer bar, so everyone belly on up to the warmer bar, and fill your plates!  And I'm going to go sit next to the floor furnace, and put my feet on it!!

At the present moment we have a temperature of 10 degrees above 0 here in Sioux Falls, the wind is out of the south at 14 mph, which leaves us with a wind chill factor of 5 degrees below 0. So it has not warmed up here a whole lot in the last several hours. And tomorrow's weather conditions will not be much different.

If lasagna (lass-ag-na - I deliberately pronounce it that way) is on the menu for dinner tonight, then I'll be dropping in within another hour or so, and I'll bet it smells good!

25 degrees, it's been dropping All Day, and temp is now at 16, with a Northwest Wind

at about 20-25 mph. (gusting to between 30-35 mph)Dead [xx(]

Definitely want something Hot for Dinner this evening!!

The date on the Amtrak picture was June 26, '04 and I got the shot of the GM steam engine about one year later.  My wife's cousin and her family live on Lake Lanier just outside of Gainesville and we go there to visit for a week or so just about every year.  Nice country.

Morning/afternoon everyone.....

Left the flag outside at half-staff, had a death in the area last night.  The last Wisconsin Central SD45 possibly made it's final run last night, fittingly enough on the Fond Du Lac to Chicago mainline.  Grew up with the bass throbbing of those units just a few miles from the main in Burlington, WI.  Gonna miss those units.......

Lasagna sounds good for dinner later this afternoon.

Great, just what I need:  More cold. Oh well, truck is plugged in, and it's been tested to start at -5 degrees F, hope it doesen't get too much colder than that.
