All right. We're off to the airport and to New York City. Of course I'll have a full report of the trip on Tuesday when we get back.
See ya!
Willy
Willy's gone - Sarah is back! Now we have to wait until next week to get the whole family back!
Congrats Sarah - It is too bad more people can't accomplish their life's dream. Maybe the world would be a little happier.
Dan - I don't think I have ever seen one like that - or maybe I just didn't know what it was. I will have to start examining these cars a little closer. I always look at the placard and check the book that Houston Ed gave me to see what odd items are traveling past in the tankers. Some are pretty scary and others are just funny. (Edible Beef Tallow - makes you want to give up fries!)
More rain last nite - it was a nice rain. Weather cool - it has been a perfect May. Now we will see if June is going to be extra hot or just nice.....
Need to visit the hammock for at least a couple of hours. Will put out the Do Not Disturb sign and the ear plugs for the rest!
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Good Friday morning, everyone! Sarah, back to the Diner!! Hope we get to see you in here a little more often, when you have the chance.
Coffee is ready (I'm having my first cup of the morning right now), iced tea, lemonade are freshly made, and on the breakfast bar, you all will find all kinds of doughnuts laid out for breakfast: crullers, chocolate covered doughnuts of every kind, including the long johns, with cream and or/vanilla in them, raspberry danish, apple and cherry danish, and bear claws.
One of you may have to take over frying the fish and fries today. I've got to go pay bills, go to the library, and get some groceries this morning. Hope to be back in time, but you never know with public bus transportation.
Everyone behave yourselves this morning, and DON'T DISTURB THE KITTY IN THE HAMMOCK!!
well... I can push the cup a little closer.but matt can also push the water bucket a little closer too.today is his field day at school.might go watch them run and play.tommorow its back on the diamonds for t-ball.maybe a trip to Deshler maybe not depends on mother nature.
stay safe
Joe
Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Congrats on the new job Sarah. Willy be safe!
Mook I thought (oops sorry-I'll whisper) Mook I thought you'd find that interesting. I just didn't know what it was. I think you can see the placard in that pic. What was in that car?

Well, did a little "digging" - I do it so well....
1824 is Caustic Soda or Sodium Hydroxide.
Wonder if that is Alka-seltzer and something to bleach your fur.....
....Believe "Millie" is transportation....A vehicle.

Oh Dan - I keep forgetting you are a newbie...
Millie is a 2002 Buick Century (ergo the Millenium - Millie.....)
The Driver is just that - he drives me everywhere I want/need/don't want to go. I have a perfectly valid driver's license and will never wear it out, since he won't let me drive! We are both married - fortunately it is to each other!
Okay, I've made it back from my errands (got everything done but library; will do that tomorrow morning), and I've got lunch on the warmer bar:
Our Friday Fish Fry includes: cod, perch, haddock, hallibut, fries, cole slaw, corn on the cob, apple, cherry pecan and chocolate pies for dessert.
Chad, good to see you in this morning. Hope you drop in more often!!
Aha! Love the creative naming process. My sister had a Buick Skyhawk that wasn't much of a car. She called it the 'Air Chicken'. I had an S10 once that rusted so bad I called an S7!
Love these short 3 hour workdays on a Friday! I think I'll go chase the WSOR today...
and I am off to make sure the BNSF stock keeps moving!
C U Monday -

If Houston Ed or Sir Chicken travel through here, they will tell you, for sure.
Ms Mook - Hope you read back this far on Monday - and anyone else who is interested - the "book" is available on-line at http://hazmat.dot.gov/pubs/erg/gydebook.htm.
In hazmat classes we sometimes refer to "methyl ethyl awful", or if it's really nasty, "methyl ethyl death..."

Juice and coffee and away we go. Hey Duff, are you getting wet? Brian (IA), did you see pics of tornadoes going through Muscatine IA?
Goooood Saturday morning, everyone!! Sorry about getting in so late, but we saw Sarah off to work this morning, then had a good phone conversation with Mutt's sister, in Northern Ky. So I'm just now getting into the Diner.
Lance, thank you for putting the coffee on, making the juice, and bringing in the danish. Think I'll take an apple danish and a raspberry danish, along with my coffee,
This is our annual WHAS Crusade for Children weekend around Ky and Ind. The fire departments are all out collecting money for children born with Cerebral Palsy, and other birth defects, and whatever a child is suffering from.
Bob, I'm also wondering how Ia Brian is fareing this morning. From the national weather map I saw this morning, looks like maybe Duff is getting some much needed rain!! We've got a fairly good chance of seeing rain later on this evening, and tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.
Guess that's about all the "news" I have this morning. I'll see you all back in here, around 6:30 EDT for our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

Oh, yeah... local news media was down there last night pronto. Live feeds from Grandview and Muscatine.
Nothing but rain up in my neck of the woods.
Gotta run- playing nurse here. Joanie's doing well, though. should be back to work later next week.

Congatulations Sarah !! We're lookin' for a few good train men, (oops) trainpeople up here on the Great Lakes Div. !! Love to hear when a plan comes together !! Been a long road for you but so glad you've come this far !!
Thanks, John
Afternoon all........
Back at home for a bit to take care of some odds and ends before heading back to the Germantown-Richfield-Menominee Falls area for more of my CDL training. All I'll say is that I can at least shift and back up a semi, and we will leave it at that. Seriously, I've had a good time so far, and I should be okay for the rest of the gig. The hotel does have internet, and my current roommate does let me use his laptop, so I have been looking in from time to time......
Dan--LawDog omlettes? I'll have one or two, with cheese, bacon, and sausage. I call them LawDog omlettes because his receipe was the first one like that I have seen. Speaking of the LawDog, try The LawDog Files for interesting insight, comedy, and good food and drink receipes.
Back later for something..........

Looks like I need to get of 'puter, as we are about to/are having
a severe thunder storm!! Hope we GET some rain, we've not had
anything really measurable since May the 4th.

Rain, rain, rain, rain...you get the idea. But we need it, so it's ok!
csxt30 to the DD&CS! Not sure if I've seen you in here before. Either way this is a nice place to hang out and shoot the breeze.
Sir Mutt, I do keep in shape for Lifeguarding (12 years and going strong!) and I welcome a challenge! I saw one of my Personal Training clients for probably one of the last times today. He's dropped 114 pounds and is off of diabetic, blood pressure, and cholesterol medicine. The thank you note from his wife was one of the nicest things I've ever been written.
well if sarah wants she can come up to the garrett division and work.of course her phone would be ringing off the hook.John welcome back to the forums.Brian glad to hear Joanie is doing better.matt had 2 hits in t-ball and picked a couple shots at 3rd base today. we have had some off and on rain this afternoon with some grumbles but nothing too serious.will put in our order for mushroom and pepperoni pizza now please.
