Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
No need to worry, Joe: that's why I made a full sheet cake! I've also made some chocolate cupcakes, with red, white and blue icing on them, with decorations befitting Memorial Day.
There are several plates made up and in the fridge, for you Joe and Lance. And as for everyone else, the next go around of gooooood food is on the warmer bar. I'll let the grills cool down, and in about two hours, I'll be starting grilling again, for our friends on the West Coast. The roasts are done, and they are also on the warmer bar, along with replenished warm and cold side dishes.
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, EVERYONE!!
Latest report from Iowa- we now have bright sunshine, and the humidity and temp are on the rise as a result. Currently 81.5 degrees.

About mid day I went out to niece's farm to draw 15 gallons of drinking water from her well. Well, a sudden downpour got me good when I was out in the open. I did not look as good as Ashley Judd did yesterday at Indy.
Great lunch CW. Thanks
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!!!!!!!!
Hope it is a Great One!!

I was just driving by and thought I would drop in and snag some lefto-overs from the long wekend. (Takes several pieces of Brian's cake, leaving many more for the cat.)
With travel over two weeks, followed by a wedding and a week's vist from son Russ and his family, haven't had much time for chit-chat. Memorial Day weekend is the time of the annual club soccer tourney hear in town. I think it is something like 120 teams-all ages- participating. Matt's back home for the summer buddies got together to participate. In spite of the fact that they had not played since a year ago last fall they did very well against organized club teams. After that game the Delavan High School Girls team won their game in the second round of the state championship series. They have an outstanding season record of 23-0, but now face formidable competition from the big city schools.
After sending our Saturday's rain down to Indianapolis, Sunday came on bright and clear. Went down to Naperville, IL to spend some time with my son Greg and his girlfriend. The girls went shopping while we took a stroll along the river walk. Linda said the shops were great. Sounds like a pretty good set-up. Next time she can shop and I'll go down the road a bit and hang out at Eola Yard.
Got about a three week backlog on chores and projects around here. I'll stop again when I come up for air.

Out polishing the markers on my parent's graves, and paying my respects to a few lost friends, when Taps sounded at the National Cemetery...
Day is done, so I though I might just mention that the folks we remember on this day gave their all, so you could have a bed to go to, and a place to call home tonight.
Rest easy, good friends....

Very well said, Ed. You really have a good way with words.

Yep, he sure does. Now that the day is over, it's time to take down our flag.
Staying dry, Ed?
Good Tuesday morning, all. Man, yesterday was such a good day. In between everything Iwas fixing for our cookout, I did a lot of reflecting, remembering and praying for our current military personnel, and all the ones who have gone before.
Looks like with all the chocolate yesterday, no one got too out of control in here last night. Everything is "neat as a pin" as the old saying goes.
Brian, I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday!!
Coffee is on, fresh juices made, and there's a light breakfast of cold cereal on the breakfast bar. Now it's time for me to get ready for the greedy ones at Tuesday Produce. Some of those people are worse than two and three year old children, trying to get what they can, before someone else beats them to it.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all later.

Got a couple of branches dragging this morning.
Six trips on the Railroad - 20 miles each trip, most of it standing. Talk about "getting your sea legs..." Then there's that two hour commute to get there and home, not to mention cleaning the train at the end of the day.
But I wouldn't miss it for anything. We finally got the PA working properly on Monday, which saved a lot of 'on the spot' narration. Once we get the tickets collected I usually just stand in a vestibule with the mike (so I can tell where we are) and do my talk from there.
Bearclaw and some tea and time to move my office back to its usual location, now that the new furniture is in place.

We had 64 people come for Produce today. And all we had was individual Idaho baking potatoes, large bags of salad mix and orange juice. Heard people saying they'd like to see them bring in some good tomatoes, along with the 5# bags of presliced onions.
Larry, glad to hear you had a great time on the railroad over the weekend. Know you enjoyed every minute of it, didn't you?
On the lunch menu today: BLTs w/fries and tossed salad. Or, you can have some grilled burgers w/lettuce, tomato and mayo (or Kraft Miracle Whip Salad Dressing).
I'm gonna go and see if I can find something to knock this sinus headache. It's about to give me fits.

How's tin-feet's bedside manners class coming?
(Boss Hen can start driving again, as of today - no more getting whacked with the white stick!)
ps - Mooks, got the job between Alliance and Ravenna....your side trips not taking you out to the great Nebrasky panhandle I hope!? (some of that work FM can't see for fear that it would jeopardize his slant on things)
.....A little different question: Has anyone noted "old Timer" poster on here or know if he is still on the Forum..? Just wondered as I haven't seen any posts from him for months upon months.....
Quentin
Quentin, I thought someone had been missing! Wonder what's happened to Old Timer. Maybe if he's lurking around, he'll read this, and say "Hello" to everyone.
Supper tonight: sub sandwiches with turkey, lettuce, onion, cheese and tomatoes; and subs with roast, lettuce, tomatoes, onion. There are bags of chips on the counter to have along with your subs.
Joe and Lance, there are subs made up for you two to take to work tonight.
