....Thanks Willy: You seem to be about right where our forecasters are regarding this weekend. This morning we have partly cloudy skies and looks like we will see some sunshine....Temps. a bit above 70 here right now....It's still a bit early.
And Joe.....I really don't follow the open wheel racing types..{Indy}, but Peripherally, as I'm an old Nascar fan but with the three gals in this years 500, I think it would be wild if Danaca would end up the winner. She is a rather skillful driver and this is her 2nd Indy race so she has some experience in this one, plus...with Andretti Green, she really is in good equipment now and it's not out of the question that she could actually be in place to win it if any of the real front runners falter a bit....That would set the Indy racing world on it's ear....!
Actually, I think it would be good for that race, with all the attention it would bring.

Greetings from Chocolate City USA!!!
A little damp here right now, but not too bad. Spent about an hour changing out the water pump on my truck yesterday (the hardest part was snaking it out between the fan shroud and the alternator bracket) and I'm now set for another six years, give or take. Gave it a good shakedown run the past two days, truck is in good shape.
Watched the fireworks celebration last night at Chocolatefest, our annual celebration honoring the Nestle' plant in town, was a good show, have yet to make it down to the festival grounds yet. Parents went last night, said it was a good time.
I'll have some of that ice cream, and I've got some Nestle's chocolate topping for it as well. have a great rest of the night, all.....

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Lance, thanks for the putting the coffee on, making juice, and then going and bringing in doughnuts! That was very nice and thoughtful of you!
We're at a pleasant 65 degrees this morning, with still just a small chance of rain later on tonight. We could actually use a little rain.
Does anyone have any requests for Sunday Dinner today? I'm working on a COOKOUT menu for tomorrow, but I'm stuck for ideas for today.

spokyone wrote:CW. Because you asked, I would love fried chicken, mashed 'taters and gravy, corn with ice tea. And for desert, rhubarb pie. Whatcha think? Hope y'all are having a fine weekend.
Add in chicken fried steak and I'm all in!
Lance and Bob, we have BOTH your suggestions. On today's SUNDAY DINNER menu:
1. Meat loaf2. Fried chicken
Side dishes: mashed taters, gravy, corn, peas, apple sauce, and desserts will be: rhubarb, cherry and peach and apple pies. And vanilla , neopolitan and chocolate ice cream to go with the pies.
Drinks: iced tea, lemonade, grape Kool Aid.
Everything is ready, and on the warmer bar, except for the pies and ice cream. Pies are in the cooler, and the ice creams are in the freezer.
....The last 5 min. or so I've been watching the goings on {live}, at the Indianapolis 500 track, here on the computer. It's blacked out here in our area on TV....And of course it's stopped, red flagged now for some time on account of rain....We now have a dozen or more vehicles running around the track to try to encourage the drying of the track.....I wonder why they aren't prepared with jet blowers {like Nascar has}, to drive around the track to speed up the drying.
Word is they might be able to restart the race about 6 pm or so....
.....Must update my comment on track "driers"......I just saw 2 of the units being pulled by trucks with them on their own trailers. Had not seen them before as I was watching the "action" of rain....
Again witnessed this action here on the computer as our Indy TV coverage is "blacked out".
I'd catch some supper here, but I ate across the street from our station (on the RRs dime) and I'm full...
Aside from some minor "opening day" problems, things are going great so far - we've had good crowds, so it's been worth our while. Only real problem is that the PA isn't working, which makes it hard to narrate - and people like the narration. Turns a ride through woods into something much more interesting.
Back on the rails tomorrow.

Gorgeous day here today. Got the lawn all spiffed up for the holiday tomorrow.
Hey Larry, did you see the PM I sent you?

joe
ps hey brian the cnw unit i think was roaming in iowa today if i heard them right in deshler did you see it?
Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Spokyone: Yes, we've been under the threat of rain as {just a possibility in some areas} for several days now and tomorrow and even beyond. So glad they eventually got it to an official finish.
On the girl drivers....Would have liked to see all three of them finish. I understood that Danaca had the best equipment and a car even good enough to actually win...But the pit stops and rain situation there right before they called it finished, got her shufled back a bit. She was sitting in 2nd position for a while right before all that happened.
I would really liked to see her win....That would have really set the whole event on it's "ear" so to speak....Probably would have been good for the franchise. But it was not to be. Although, her 7th place finish is nothing to be ashamed of.
I've had a busy day with racing.....That race, I {had to get info from radio}, and during rain delay was in here on this thing and got some more info, as I mentioned earlier, even direct video {live}, here on the computer, as it was raining.
Then I had to get into the World 600....and....then another sport event: The Cleveland Cav's against the Detroit Pistons....{NBA}....Hardly had time to do anything else this afternoon and evening....I did take a time out to get a bit of exercise and rode my bike through our addition a bit for a break....Then right back at the TV....ha.....
Good late evening everyone.
(Hauls in large-size Big Green Egg barbecue grill)
Can we use this grill to make steaks, chops, burgers and fries for the Memorial Day cookout? It's probably the best grilling unit in the world, no contest.
good morning
look at this big green thing over here! thats a big grill! juice coffee and rolls are ready.I have made some hamburger patties for lunch today.time to get cleaned up and go to our local paprade.
Good Monday morning, everyone! How is everyone this morning? All right, I hope!
Bob, thank you for bringing in the big grill! Yes, it can be used today, along with the other grill we have. We'll get those babies fired up around 10:30, and start cooking/grilling.
Joe, thank you for getting the coffee going, making fresh juice, and for the rolls! Also, thank you for making some hamburger patties for lunch. You did a great job!!
I see the Indy 500 had a "Ky. connection" winner yesterday, with Ashley Judd's husband winning. She might have been soaked from all the rain there, but she sure looked very proud of her hubby.
While you all eat your breakfast, think I'll "hide out" in the kitchen, preparing the rest of the side dishes for today's cookout. Thankfully, I took out steaks, chops, hot dogs, and even a roast or two, from the freezer to the fridge, to thaw for today. Need to get started getting everything prepared, all the veggies washed, etc.
See ya later!
Good morning everyone.
Don't forget to use the Big Green Egg to make the roasts--it comes out really delicious.
Well, I'm back from the kitchen. Been working all morning long, especially on a SPECIAL PROJECT for today. Just want to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRIAN HANEL!!!!
The special project is a full sheet cake which says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRIAN!!!", instead of the regular quarter sheet cakes we normally have in the Diner.
The first round of our Memorial Day Cookout is now on the warmer bar: brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, pork chops, T-bones, rib eyes, round steaks, baked beans, corn on the cob, green, red and yellow peppers, grilled onions. On the cool section of the warmer bar: cole slaw, potato salad, Watergate salad, sliced red, pink and yellow tomatoes, Cherry Delight cheesecake, and strawberry cheesecake.
On the chocolate birthday cake, there is a candle shaped like the American Flag, that we'll light and have Brian make a wish and blow it out, after we are all finsihed eating, and are ready for dessert.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRIAN, and may it be the BEST birthday so far, for you!!!!
Happy Birthday, Brian!!

WOW, what a spread. I don't know what to load up on first!
Thanks, guys!
I would've suggested the proper number of candles, but since Larry isn't around with his fire extinguisher, the single candle is just fine by me...
