Another beautiful day in Northern New York, and that's a good thing.  We have a contractor erecting a 180' tower in our 'back yard' here at work, and they need this nice stuff to stack it all up!

Bearclaw & tea - I'm headed out to watch the excitement of three guys working 100+ feet off the ground....

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Hope everyone is having a good day, so far!

Mutt and I just finished talking on the phone, with Jim (JHH), and he asked us to share some news with everyone:  He has gotten a promotion, and soon will be starting a machinist helper position with the UP there in North Little Rock.

CONGRATULATIIONS, JIM, ON THE PROMOTION!!Thumbs Up [tup] Bow [bow] Bow [bow]

I know you've been working very hard on all the work to get the promotion.

To celebrate, we'll have a cookout in Jim's honor today.  On the grills, you will find steak, pork chops, chicken, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, and we'll also have potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and Jim's favorite dessert:  white cake w/white icing.

First of all, congratulations to Jim. Hopefully he will decide to pop in and say hello.

Just another boring day today, except for the fact that we have our first named storm of 2007 in the Atlantic. Subtropical Storm Andrea has formed off the coast of Florida. Fortunately, landfall is not expected and the system is forecast to gradually weaken over the next few days. Hurricane season in the Atlantic doesn't start until June 1st, so we're off to an early start.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day. The weekend is just 2.5 days away!

Willy - our weather has been so odd over the whole US, do you have any really, really general outlook on what we may expect?  Maybe an early hurricane season; snow in Houston; volcanos in Nebraska?

I do think this hurricane season will be active, but I'm not sure about early. This rare May subtropical storm we have right now might be the only thing until late July. That's the norm. However, the weather has been a bit crazy lately, so it's hard to say what will happen.

You never know... Ed could be shovelling a foot of snow in July knowing the way things are going.

I think that here in the central plains we'll have a fairly average year in terms of rain and temperatures. Just because we got dumped on over this past weekend doesn't mean that it's going to stay extremely wet for weeks on end. The National Weather Service is giving us equal chances of above or below normal precip and equal chances of above or below normal temperatures this summer, and I really can't argue with that forecast.

Joe, you're welcome.

In the cooler, you all will find tuna salad sandwiches, BLTs, ham & cheese sandwiches, salami sandwiches, and on the counter you will find chips, pretzels, and snack crackers.

I thought everyone would enjoy having sandwiches, etc., and sitting out on the patio, or up on the deck, enjoying the beautiful weather!!

I am sure you all have heard of the fires here around my area. Please pray that we get lots of rain from that tropical depression that is coming around. We really need it now.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Duff, keeping you all in my thoughts and praying that you all will get some rain!!  I know how much you need it down there!

Looks like things are mighty slow in here this morning.  Fresh coffee is on, freshly squeezed orange juice in the cooler.  There's also fresh fruits and cold cereal on the breakfast bar.

If anyone has any meal requests for today, please let me know.  Everyone take care, and have a great morning.

Hot turkey and hot beef sandwiches, choice of mashed spuds or fries, choice of veggie (hey - it's a virtual diner).  Some good old fashioned pie for dessert.

Another nice day, with the possibility of thunderbumpers.  The guys building our tower didn't get done a moment too soon.  It's one heck of a lightning rod, now...

Duff - hopefully you're getting wet, but not too wet.

Not sure I buy some of the findings (like no agreement in place for over 100 years), but the decision still makes interesting reading. STB Docket FD-34527_0.

Larry, thanks for your meal suggestion.

On the warmer bar is:  hot beef and hot turkey sandwiches w/mashed spuds & gravy, fries, and various veggie choices.

Desserts:  apple, cherry and peach pies w/vanilla ice cream, or Neopolitan ice cream.

NOTE:  Has anyone heard from the Mookster this morning?!?!  Sure is too quiet without her in here.  Too quiet, quite frankly.  Also, we seem to be missing, Joe, Dan and Brian!!

Brian and Mookie, so glad to hear you all ARE here, and not MIA!!  (Now, all we have to do is find Joe and Dan!!)

Changing the supper menu for tonight, and also have turned on the AC in the kitchen:  I'm getting ready to start making up pizzas for tonight's supper.  The list of pizzas for tonight are:

1.  Canadian bacon
2.  Goetta
3.  Pepperoni/Sausage/mushroom
4.  Hawaiian
5.  Supreme
6.  Anchovie (in case Jay comes in for supper tonight)

They will be ready by 6 p.m. EDT, but I'll have one ready at 3 p.m. CDT for Mookie to take home with her for her and Driver's supper tonight.  I'll also make sure that a couple of large pizzas are in the fridge for Joe and Lance to take to work tonight, for their supper.

Well, that was painful.........

Just got off the phone with the repair shop, found out I need to put in a new injection pump into my truck.  Kiss $1,900 goodbye, that little Bosch VP44 pump is expensive.  Blame it on the new fuels and additives the refiners are shipping to us(or lack thereof.....).  Will have to start using lots of fuel additive from now on.

In other news, it's 80 degrees here in Burlington, and my dad and I spent the better part of this mornig installing new signs at the county fairgrounds in Union Grove.  They look pretty sharp for a few hunks of PVC pipe and fittings, and new wood signs with routed-in letters painted to stand out.

See everyone later for dinner.......

Good afternoon.

This week I decided to put up some advertising for my website in the hallways at school to get more visitors to the site. I kind of figured that with the web address available to the whole school there would be some craziness going on in my guestbook and in the shoutbox (where people can ask questions about the weather, etc). As expected, that is happening so I've had to ask on my homepage that everyone keep the craziness out and stay on the topic of weather. I can delete comments from the guestbook, but not from the shoutbox. I would hate to have to delete the entire shoutbox, but I'll see what happens over the next few days. It's a pity that a couple of trouble-makers can ruin things for everyone else.

Anyway though... it's nice outside and there are just 8 days of school left. Life is good.

And it's nothing too bad, but just craziness that I'd rather not have on a website that I want to look as professional as possible. You're right, a person has got to learn something new everyday!

Willy - when I first stood up the website for the ambulance service I run with I included a page for comments.  I didn't check it often - after all, it would just be a place for people to say "nice job, thanks for taking care of me."  Right?  Wrong.  I took that part down when it turned into a chatroom for who knows who.
